It's a great show with a smart viewing audience that doesn't feel the need to over-analyze ever detail or try to guess what's going to happen next like every other mother ####ing TV thread in this forum.

 
Awesome episode.  Great tease with the ream of  Hammermill paper and glue stick.  I know where this is going but won't ruin it for you guys. 

 
Maybe I'm missing something, but Mike didn't exactly come through on his deal with Salamanca, did he?

"The gun was yours" isn't close to the same thing as "I don't think the gun was Tuco's, I'm not saying it was or wasn't mine, maybe he found it on the sidewalk while punching me in the face :shrug: "

Couldn't the DA still have a good shot of making the gun charge stick to Salamanca? I mean the gun only had Tuco's prints, and there simply isn't any rationale other scenario regarding the gun without Mike saying it was his.

I wonder whose decision it was to change the story? It would seem like Jimmy convinced Mike but judging by what looks like a new plan for Mike, he might not have even told Jimmy what he agreed to with Salamanca.

Similar to when Kim went on for a while making phone calls a few weeks ago, I thought the montage of Jimmy and the colorful suits went on just a little long too.

I'm disappointed that little Jimmy stole the money from his father. I thought Chuck was making it up to make Jimmy look bad.

Didn't Jimmy tell the DA he'd have Mike take the stand for the defense if the DA pushed on the gun charge?

I had thought Chuck was telling the truth, so that scene didn't bother me.

:goodposting:   Going to be hard to make a gun possession charge stick when the person who originally said it was Tuco's recants who is the Prosecutors star witness and threatens to become the Defense's star witness.

Right, but I think I'd take my chances if I were prosecuting. Gun charge is the only one that matters. Do you really need Mike's testimony to make it stick? They've got fingerprints and the cops' testimony.I'd try to get it anyway.

Maybe they don't get it to stick, but I'd make Mike get up on the stand and take the gun charge if he's going say it wasn't Tuco's.

Mike's testimony would be enough "reasonable doubt" for a juror, I would think.

 
Plus, the DAs seem to know who they're messing with wrt Tuco....they flat out asked if Mike was threatened, so I'm assuming this is pretty common place and their (DAs) hands are tied.

The cops came after the gun was already dropped so they didn't see it in Tuco's hands.

 
I took that meeting as Mike saying "the gun was mine, but I know if I admit it, I open myself to some gun charges."  He can't plead the fifth in an informal setting, so he's giving them a heads up that his testimony will be that is wasn't Tuco's, and if asked on the stand he will take the fifth (which every juror will take to mean "it's mine but I can't say that").

That's one of the things I like about this show.  The writers make all characters act rationally.  The DAs asking Mike if he was paid off or threatened and Cliff telling Jimmy that he knew that Jimmy was doing the things he was doing to get fired.  So many other shows wouldn't go that route.  

 
I'm going to go back and watch this episode high.  The whole series showing Jimmy and dancing blowup guy was some great tv.

That was good. I figured they were going somewhere with it when they had that lingering initial shot of Jimmy looking at that thing, but how they worked it into the ensuing montage was really entertaining. I'm sure there's some deeper, philosophical message underpinning that which I'm not grasping too. Something about moral flexibility or going with prevailing winds or something like that. But I enjoyed it simply for the presentation quality and creativity.

I saw it not as a turning point or an epiphany, but rather as a sign post along a road already well traveled.  I mean young Jimmy was already laying around on the job viewing porn and was instantly aware a scam was being run, having clearly seen and contemplated it many times, enough to realize his father was being taken advantage of, yet again.

Still, maybe he went from general malaise and cynicism to active participant at that moment.  No way to really know.

I know, pretty much the same way I grew up.  Really hit home.  Except I NEVER in a million years would steal from my Father.

Doesn't seem so to me. Two guys are fighting. A gun is on the ground. It has to belong to one of them. And it's got one guy's prints on it.

Anything Mike would say would sound like total bull#### to a jury.

Also liked that he left with an awkward attempt at closure and with Cliff calling him an #######. It was a realistic conclusion to his time at the firm.
