I don't think the second hole digging guy gave a time estimate, but it was clear he was talking a lot longer than the 7 months the first guy came up with.

I blame Kim. She was supposed to be a 2-3 episode arc and the writing crew fell in love with her and knocked the whole thing off course. They had the Gus/Mike arc set but kept stretching the Kimmy/Jimmy/Chuck triangle and boom. Oh well, that's what women are for, to interrupt men's best-laid plans

Who's to say Gus goes into production immediately after getting the lab set up? Who's to say he didn't try a few other cooks prior to Gale?

One of the most interesting tension points left in this show is the method by which Kim exits Jimmy/Saul's life completely by the time we see him in the BB era. She's pretty much the only thing keeping him anywhere near the straight world - we figure her break with Jimmy, however it happens, is the thing that completely untethers him, whether he pushes her away himself or she becomes collateral damage from his meandering to the dark side. Tangente -  the difference between hair up Kim and hair down Kim is huge.

Also, it appears we haven't seen the last of Howard either - he's in rough shape.

Could be.  Seems unlikely to me that in an industrial area that one would build vertically when horizontally is cheaper, particularly for a use involving heavy equipment and water, which seeps, but who knows.  I did not see any indication of a room, or stairs.  I just hope for some incite into how it comes to be.  It is an unusually ambitious undertaking.

a decade ago, a roomful of writers conceived of a superlab under a laundry. writers room cleared its collective mouth of snack food long enough to say "coo-ul". Now the prequel show originally built upon Chuck & Kim being disposed of in S1 but decided they liked those guys so have kep em around for several seasons is scrambling to include BB throwbacks they didnt even think of til 3 wks ago. nufced

The cold opening of Box Cutter in Breaking Bad showed the lab being finished and Gale basically talking Gus into hiring this other cook who was making the purest meth ever.  Plus, when Gus first showed Walt the lab in Season 3 of BB, some of the equipment still had wrapping around it, indicating it had never been used before.

Ive been rewatching BB. Just watched the "Better Call Saul" episode. What a phenomenal episode. Odenkirk was just as good as portraying him then as he is now.

 
Is Kim doing this side work because she plans on quitting the bank gig and getting back in business with Jimmy once he's able to again?

She is doing the side work exactly because of what the judge called her out on it for. 

 
Jimmy was more affected by the news of Mrs. Strauss death than he was when Chuck died.

It looks like we are finally seeing the beginning of the end of Kim and Jimmy.

 
Here is a (dark) thought about Howard--  HHM continues to fall, and Howard kills himself..  Kim blames Jimmy (because of his prior comment to Howard about Chuck)..

Maybe she finds out that Jimmy went to the insurance company but let Howard think that Chuck's suicide was his fault.

 
Name of one of the movies mentioned in the opening clip when Jimmy is collecting Oscar pool sheets: "Howards End".

Another case where he went soft - reallyreallyreally no pun intended - on one of his li'l ol' ladies. After nudging one of em to close the Sandpiper case, Slippin' Jimmy backed off when her mallwalking pals ostracized her, costing himself life-changing dough in the process. As a fellow sociopath with a heart of gold, i totally understand the level upon which he feels nothing but relief over his only relative's death but can be moved to tears or altruism by a virtual stranger.

 
I admit it - I called phone salesman Saul's number.  Twice, even.  Got a busy signal the first time, but heard his outgoing voicemail message the second.   :)

That kind of thing just makes me happy.

I love these as well.  They tell a story in a short period of time and seem to give the directors free range on getting creative with various shots, angles, cuts, etc.  The most recent one brought back memories of Requiem for a Dream

 
One measure of how good a show is how much it makes you want to see the next episode.  GOT does that with dragons and dramatic war scenes.  BCS can do it with a shopping cart full of pens and highlighters.

This episode did a really good job of making you feal like Kim and Jimmy are moving apart and then reminding you just how well they know each other.  And she does know him so I'm not sure which way they will go with her eventual disappearance.  Mesa Verde vs. McGill Wexler will play a big role.

Huell getting charged for assaulting a cop was an accident, but, it plays so well getting Jimmy and Kim working a case together again it's as if Saul couldn't have planned it better.

Both the Mike and the Gus story lines taking a back seat to McGill Wexler right now.

Jimmy will continue to sabotage the relationship and/or end up getting her disbarred.  Maybe it's something similar to what he got, a year suspension.  Whatever it is it will destroy Jimmy.  As he wants.

In the end during the cinnabon storyline I expect Jimmy to go to Kim.  Maybe Jimmy needs a lawyer.  He will go to her with his legal trouble as a pretense then spill his past regrets and ask for forgiveness.  

She will say I cannot be your friend Jimmy.  What you did was unforgivable.  

"No one has called me Jimmy in a long time."

As Jimmy walks away, Kim says, "I won't be your friend but I will be your lawyer."  Jimmys' eyes glimmer with just a bit of hope.  End of series.
