sure am glad I went with a 3rd QB:Matt Schaub $20 7.90 David Garrard $18 7.50 Byron Leftwich $4 20.10 Qualified by 3 points...
If you're going to have a "bad" week, week 1 is when to do it. People who barely made it would get cut in basically every remaining week. I think week 3 is the 2nd easiest cut, and they get progressively tougher from there. One other way to look at things too is that if you trust your projections to work out and everyone stayed healthy, your underachieving players should have some "makeup" weeks coming to them...

My RBs would have killed me this week had my WR and TE not done as well. Very happy with almost all my players. Slaton was brutal, but I don't see this as a trend.QB - Donovan McNabb - 24QB - David Garrard - 18QB - Byron Leftwich - 4RB - Steve Slaton - 37RB - Willie Parker - 16RB - Leon Washington - 12RB - Michael Bush - 6RB - Sammy Morris - 4RB - James Davis - 2WR - Roddy White - 33WR - Chad Ochocinco - 27WR - Chris Henry - 12WR - Derrick Mason - 9WR - Nate Burleson - 5WR - Percy Harvin - 5WR - Patrick Crayton - 4TE - John Carlson - 11TE - Brent Celek - 7TE - Jermichael Finley - 3PK - Josh Scobee - 2PK - Shayne Graham - 2PK - Josh Brown - 1TD - Green Bay Packers - 3TD - Washington Redskins - 3
I wonder how you are gonna do next week with Mcnabb probably not playing? That's what killed me last year, Romo getting hurt.

Well, all I can say after Week 1 is, I will be lucky to be around past week 5. No real Home Runs and a few disappointments.

Philip Rivers $25 17.50 - Rivers will be good, just not Brees good.

Shaun Hill $11 16.45 - He starts...will have his weeks

Matt Leinart $4 0.00 - Looks like a good $4 investment with Warner taking his hits

DeAngelo Williams $37 15.90 - Overpaid if Steward continues to get 1/2 carries

Ryan Grant $24 13.20 - Packers are not the offensive team yet that everyone expected. Still solid though

Ray Rice $21 13.00 - Should be consistent points here.

Ladell Betts $2 2.70 - Not counting on much unless Portis goes down

James Davis $2 2.40 - A disappointing start, but he is more for later in the season

Edgerrin James $1 3.00 - Worth the $1 rooster spot

Randy Moss $42 26.10 - Money well spent

Marques Colston $28 12.00 - Hope to see more targets in coming weeks. Will score, but might be inconsistent

Chris Henry $12 2.80 - I smell disappointment here

Derrick Mason $9 8.70 - Best days are behind, but will score some

Hakeem Nicks $4 3.80 - Kind of wish I went Manningham instead

Robert Meachem $3 13.10 - Nice $3 player

Visanthe Shiancoe $10 7.10 - Hoping Farve throws for more than 100 yards a game

Jermichael Finley $3 2.10 - Disappointing start, still hopeful

Chris Baker $1 2.20 - Damn, Watson looks to be the man

Ryan Longwell $3 11.00 - kickers...who cares

Dan Carpenter $1 1.00

Steve Hauschka $1 10.00

Green Bay Packers $3 10.00 - Green Bay looked good so far, but the Bears offensive looked bad

Dallas Cowboys $3 0.00 - ?? Might have spent money better elsewhere.

I went with 3 QB's also and am glad. I have Rodgers, Flacco, and Gerrard. Who knew Flacco would outscore Rodgers?

1

------------------------------------

Aaron Rodgers $27 15.90 - Not what I expected on week 1 but it was the Bears Defense. I think he is an elite QB and will play better.

David Garrard $18 7.50 - Dodds Pick.

Byron Leftwich $4 20.10 - Surprise for week 1- I when choosing him I picked him because of the price not expectations.

DeAngelo Williams $37 15.90 - Not liking seeing Stewart with almost 1/2 the carries but I think the future is good.

Felix Jones $11 2.20 - Still scratching my head on the week1 stats, but the talent is there.

Fred Taylor $11 8.50 - Looks like patriots are a RBBC team but Fred got the TD. I got what I paid for.

James Davis $2 2.40 - The price is cheap and I like the upside.

Edgerrin James $1 3.00 - I will buy that for a dollar.

Reggie Wayne $36 32.20 - Solid game and what I expected when drafting him.

Greg Jennings $32 22.60 - Could have been better but still good - and again this was the Bears defense.

Chad Ochocinco $27 14.70 - Disappointed.

Vincent Jackson $21 16.60 - See above.

Laurent Robinson $2 13.70 - #1 WR for the RAMS for $2 is a bargain if I ever heard of one. They are bad but not destitute.

Brent Celek $7 18.70 - Drafted three TE's and two paid off.

Todd Heap $5 20.90 - The value was there for only $5, if he can stay healthy.

Chris Baker $1 2.20 - "Elementary my dear." NO IT WAS NOT.

Phil Dawson $1 9.00 - Look two $1 kickers.

Jason Hanson $1 11.00 - Look two $1 kickers.

San Diego Chargers $5 7.00 - I like these guys a lot with the Chiefs and the Raiders in the same division.

Cleveland Browns $1 10.00 - Special teams and a defensive minded coach.

QB - Drew Brees - 35

QB - Mark Sanchez - 9

I went back and forth with QBs, and just kept coming back to Brees. All of those weapons, and a coach who likes to sling it around, I think he'll be the best scoring QB of the year. 6 TDs a week is obviously not going to happen, but I loved what I saw W1. And Sanchez...wow. Way more than I could've asked for.

RB - Kevin Smith - 30

RB - Ryan Grant - 24

RB - Leon Washington - 12

RB - Felix Jones - 11

RB - Ahmad Bradshaw - 8

RB - Glen Coffee - 2

This group is going to be my downfall. I just could not find a way to get a roster I wanted with a high priced RB. I spent and re-spent Kevin Smith's $30 a hundred different ways. I have no surprises in this group. Lots of upside, but no consistency. Consistency is going to have to come from the QB/WRs.

WR - Greg Jennings - 32

WR - Vincent Jackson - 21

WR - Earl Bennett - 11

WR - Michael Jenkins - 8

WR - Percy Harvin - 5

WR - James Jones - 4

WR - Devery Henderson - 3

WR - Robert Meachem - 3

I love this group. No Moss/LFitz in the group, but a couple of solid producers and a lot of explosive depth. I wanted anyone I could find in Saints uni that could catch the ball at a reasonable price. I love getting Meachem/Henderson for $6. Only JJ was a bust W1.

TE - Visanthe Shiancoe - 10

TE - Brent Celek - 7

Seeing some other teams now, I'd like to have another couple of cheap TEs. Nothing special here, and I'm going to throw up some goose eggs with only a couple of them on the roster.

PK - Josh Scobee - 2

PK - Jeff Reed - 2

Kickers. Who cares. I'd love to see next year's contest just get rid of this completely.

TD - Pittsburgh Steelers - 7

TD - New York Jets - 4

Again, in retrospect, I probably should have rostered 3 Ds. Love the Jets at $4, but the Steelers at $7 doesn't feel as good now without Troy at safety.

Overall, I think I'll give it a good run.

This entry is still alive.

------------------------------------

Jay Cutler $22 17.45 - Couldn't break $25. Liked him the best in the $20-$25 window.

Joe Flacco $14 34.15 - Good value I thought. I'd take him over at least 5 QBs priced higher.

Derek Anderson $4 0.00 - :goodposting: Mangini never announced the starter and I think Leftwich is a hump.

Frank Gore $43 18.30 - Love him, think he's in for a big year.

Ryan Grant $24 13.20 - (see above)

Willie Parker $16 2.90 - Meh, another starter I thought. Hating this pick now.

Leon Washington $12 10.40 - Wanted some energy on this squad. Always capable of some decent #s.

Ahmad Bradshaw $8 8.60 - Gonna turn in some big games this year. Wanted to cash in.

Glen Coffee $2 -0.30 - Looked good in preseason. Wanted this team to keep going if Gore went down.

Marques Colston $28 12.00 - Brees! Take him over at least 4 priced higher.

DeSean Jackson $24 6.20 - Most upside in this price range.

Chris Henry $12 2.80 - Bought the hype.

Derrick Mason $9 8.70 - Pretty consistent. Always a few big games in him.

Percy Harvin $5 14.80 - Great value!

Dallas Clark $18 9.90 - Couldn't break $20. Not feeling so good about his injury history and I like Cooley too but Peyton swayed me.

Chris Baker $1 2.20 - Hoping for a bye week surprise.

*Really wished I took another TE. Oh well, next year.

Jeff Reed $2 9.00 - Kicker

Jason Hanson $1 11.00 - Dome Kicker

New York Jets $4 6.00 - Total homer pick.

Cincinnati Bengals $1 3.00 - Meh.

Didn't have anybody explode, but solid numbers all around. Vjax is looking like a steal at $21. Was glad to see Harvin crack the lineup as well. My QB play may come back to hunt me but I liked what I got out of both of my guys. My team performed very well considering Slaton put up a complete egg. Lastly, think Buckhalter may turn out to be one of the best 2 dollar investments in this years contest.

Just for the record, the standings now look slightly different than when I first released them this morning. The reason is that Matt Waldman's team wasn't originally labeled as a staff team. It now is. Fortunately, because there was a multi-way tie at the cut line, this didn't cause a move in the cut line. The upshot is that each of the live remaining teams' chances of winning just went up from about 1-in-12003 to 1-in-12002.

After week 1, the #1 team has 7 tight ends rostered. Interesting strategy.

I went the 24 player route, with best ball, I though I would maximize my opportunities, I made sure to keep the bye weeks in check and went with more value and swing for the fences type players.

QB - Matt Schaub - 20 Went with the QBBC approach and Byron as a cheap extra (worked for me this week)

QB - David Garrard - 18

QB - Byron Leftwich - 4

RB - DeAngelo Williams - 37 Good value for potential production

RB - Ray Rice - 21 - If he can get some of the TD's...

RB - Willie Parker - 16 - I thought this was great value, we'll see

RB - Felix Jones - 11 - perfect value for best ball IMO

RB - Edgerrin James - 1 Might as well

WR - Anquan Boldin - 31- When he is healthy, a beast

WR - Marques Colston - 28 - Probable stud

WR - Chris Henry - 12 - Best Ball great value IMO

WR - Derrick Mason - 9 Best Ball great value IMO

WR - Percy Harvin - 5 Best Ball great value IMO

WR - Davone Bess - 3 Best Ball great value IMO

WR - Laurent Robinson - 2 Great value as we saw week 1

TE - Vernon Davis - 9 - I had Olsen in here and swapped him out since I figured he would be on a lot of rosters

TE - Todd Heap - 5 - nice value

TE - Jermichael Finley - 3 - Preseason hype

TE - Chris Baker - 1 - Good value, though he was the starter

PK - Jason Elam - 3

PK - Rob Bironas - 3

TD - Arizona Cardinals - 3 I went with the DBC approach with the Bills ruffeled in to round out my 250$

TD - Green Bay Packers - 3

TD - Buffalo Bills - 2

I like this team, only scored 140~ this week, but barring any major injuries, I hope to make some noise.

Sweet...No one else alive has the combination of Slaton, Westbrook, Jennings, Ocho, and Vjax.
There's only 2 of us that have Jacobs, Braylon, & Owen Daniels. See you in the finals brother! Of course I have McNabb, so I probably won't sniff week 3. But still.
Does still stuff matter more later? I'm throwing in some combos and it's returning very low numbers also.

Spent about 5 minutes on this - at least I made it a week...

This entry is still alive.

where's the tool that allows you to put in different combinations of players to see how many teams have that combo? That was pretty sweet.
I just re-opened that thing. Here it is. I guess I'll need to add some options to allow a search by roster size.
Interesting... all teams that contain QB Brady, RB Lynch, WR Andre Johnson....ONE ... Just lil ol' me!!

i don't get this. i thought i read the rules. what are these teams with 1 QB or 2 RBs going to do on bye weeks? they are taking zeroes, right?
