Moving on to week 7 with 162 pts. I've been averaging about 155 pts per week. While I like my chances to make a deep run my team never scores a ton of pts.

I wish I had a $1 Slaton on my roster like last year. :lmao:Jamaal Charles for $7 this year... :lmao:
If that is your only bad pick, then you are lucky. I have many misfires. J. Galloway and J. Charles are my highest priced duds. Hopefully J. Charles willl get an opportunity.

Wasn't able to watch any football yesterday (saved me from a massive Eagles ball of rage), but knew I'd blown up this week as I started seeing key stat lines.

I think 245 might be my all-time high water mark for this contest. Unfortunately, past years have indicated a rapid fall from the game after the season's high score. Here's hoping THAT doesn't happen again!

Someone is already at 278 this week. If I had Brady I would be over 290. I have to see what Rivers does for me tonight, but I doubt he puts up 40 plus points. Yeah, I am worried about a let down next week. Last week I made the cut by three points. Rice and Mason off next week, but that is probably like most teams who are missing even more.

The only other outright duds (so far) for me are Chris Henry and Chris Baker.Sanchez now has me more than a little :unsure:Leon Washington, while not a dud, hasn't been the solid pick I had hoped... yet.Leniart was a calculated risk pick, so not a dud - just still a potential card in the hole.Any player can come back to life or cool off... several guys that looked great the 1st 3 weeks and I was wishing I had picked have now cooled off quite a bit.Galloway or Charles might well prove to be a great players to have in the 2nd half or last quarter of the season.

40% chance the Turk ends the fun for me. (though I'm guessing it's alot higher than that since I have no players going tonight)Adios
Maybe the final score will be 16-7. 40% chance is better than nothing.
My chances of making it are actually 60% according to the sim.... but they were also 95% or so going into the week... so, I'll probably be watching from the sidelines the rest of the year.

The only thing worse than being eliminated is missing the cut by a point and then watching your guys blowup the next few weeks.

Anyone else think the 20 player roster guys made hay this week v. the 24 player roster guys? Me neither.

My duds have been Slaton (Although better of late) along with Galloway and Bennett.My biggest worry is my lack of TE depth. I'll be movin on this week with huge weeks from Big Ben/Slaton/Rice/Welker even Nicks.QB - Ben Roethlisberger - 19QB - Matt Hasselbeck - 17RB - Steve Slaton - 37RB - Ray Rice - 21RB - Felix Jones - 11RB - Ahmad Bradshaw - 8RB - LeSean McCoy - 7WR - Wes Welker - 33WR - Greg Jennings - 32WR - Eddie Royal - 26WR - Joey Galloway - 5WR - Hakeem Nicks - 4WR - Devery Henderson - 3WR - Robert Meachem - 3WR - Darrius Heyward-Bey - 2WR - Josh Cribbs - 1TE - Brent Celek - 7TE - Martellus Bennett - 4PK - Josh Brown - 1PK - Dan Carpenter - 1PK - Shaun Suisham - 1TD - Baltimore Ravens - 6TD - Cincinnati Bengals - 1

The scary thing is that my 245 only put me in 20th for this week. And that's Pre-MNF, so I'm quite sure I'll end up much lower. What a wild week ...

Hey guys...sorry, I'm jumping in late on this thread.

Is there a link so we can check our team scoring for the current week? I'm still alive, but, don't feel like manually calculating my score.

Thanks

No, we pretty much all do it manually.GL! :goodposting:
Rats! Thanks anyway. I'm hoping with Ryan/Rodgers, R. Moss, Ray Rice and Leon Washington, I'll be OK. Eh, we shall see.
You can head over to thefantasystar.com if you feel like being lazy....

Good point about Charles, I believe there is hope with that guy. Galloway looks like he has no chance. He hasn't played in weeks. I also own Leon Washington, unfortuneatly T. Jones isnt going away. I agree with Leinart, he could be money at anytime, Warner is an injury waiting to happen. Sanchez has regressed, Romo has to get some consistency to his game. My other duds are E. James, L. Betts, S. Hurd, J. Davis, C. Brown, but I dont count them since they were only a buck, unfortuneatly they are wasted space. My one big money RB Kevin Smith has been a disappointment. For my team to have a chance he has to produce. I have big time scorers in R. Moss, L. Fitzgerald, D. Clark, but Romo, K. Smith, N. Burelson and either Bradshaw or L. Washington have to produce for my team to be a threat.

2 Tds already for the $1 D Broncos... cut will be going up a bit after tonight I figure...
Looks like only 315 still alive teams have the Broncos D, so probably not that big of an impact to the cut line. The way Denver's D is playing this year, I would have liked to have had them.Although NO is doing well for a $1 team too.

Interesting thing I was able to check today. Reviewing the rosters for bye week allocations here's how the current 6101 teams have their byes spread out (and % of total players on bye):

Week 4: 13603 Byes (10.1%)

Week 5: 24486 byes (18.2%)

Week 6: 15446 byes (11.5%)

Week 7: 25606 byes (19.0%)

Week 8: 20623 byes (15.3%)

Week 9: 24436 byes (18.2%)

Week 10: 10233 byes (7.6%)

Basically, this week is higher scoring in part because a relatively low percentage of players are off. Next week should have much lower scoring with nearly 2x the players on bye. Week 9 should have similarly reduced scoring compared to what would be expected (although the cut % is pretty high my then). I'll look at things again after each week to see how things look with the survivors.

How do you check this? Meaning, what percentage of the alive teams have certain players?

Halftime scoring is up to 137ish. I also updated TFS scoring to reflect point adjustments (neg yards, corrected Def scoring), so if you haven't been there lately you may want to see if that affected you.

Very interesting stats on the bye week allocations in the contest.

Congrats to everyone still alive. You've beat out over half the field!

Very thankful to have weathered the storm with a rough start from Brady, Parker and Royal. Now comes my biggest test to survive weeks 7 and 8. Only 3 players haven't contributed through 5 weeks. Wells, Edge and Feely.

8 Tom Brady - 37

7 Matthew Stafford - 11

Major dice roll here. It worked out so far as Leftwich would have been the 3rd man here, but having the same bye as Brady edged me towards going with 2. Wanted to be different from most teams and I like Stafford's matchup vs. the Rams in Week 8. The fact that Brady had a slow start and Stafford's injury has really helped keep weed out the other owners here. I just hope Stafford comes back strong in week 8.

x - DeAngelo Williams - 37

8 - Willie Parker - 16

x - Chris Wells - 15

10 - Ahmad Bradshaw - 8

x - Glen Coffee - 2

7 - Edgerrin James - 1

RB is looking rough, but things change FAST in the NFL. I'm the first to admit that was wrong about Mendenhall. Credit goes to Tomlin for finding a way to motivate the kid. Wells looked like a man among boys in the preseason, patiently waiting for him to step up. Bradshaw was a must have in every version of my lineup. Coffee being a popular guy to own was a surprise to me, but he has already been worth the $2.

x - Anquan Boldin - 31

7 - Eddie Royal - 26

8 - Chris Henry - 12

7 - Derrick Mason - 9

7 - Nate Burleson - 5

9 - Percy Harvin - 5

Can't explain exactly what I was thinking here with 3 guys off week 7 and only rostering 6 WR. I shifted more toward RB to get Wells in the last few days, but failed to compensate for week 7 byes. OUCH! Mason and Burleson screamed value along with Boldin and Royal in this format. All the Boldin injury scuttlebut made him especially attractive projecting a low ownership % and a healthy season. Royal could be key down the stretch if the team can squeak by the next two weeks. Chris Henry's disappearance in the regular season fooled many of us. :missing:

x - Dallas Clark - 18

x - Jermichael Finley - 3

8 - Chris Baker - 1

Planned to get two higher priced TE, but at least one of Finley or Baker seemed primed for a big season. No brainer taking Clark who was my #1 ranked TE. Flex has come from this position 3 of the first 5 weeks.

7 - Olindo Mare - 1

9 - Jay Feely - 1

x - Dan Carpenter - 1

7 - Steve Hauschka - 1

Didn't plan on 4 k, but the way the roster shook out, I didn't like any other $1 RB or WR. The next best roster for me was to drop Stafford for Sanchez and add another WR, but keeping Stafford vs. the Rams week 8 just felt right. The diminished return of the 4th kicker still held more value than anyone else I could roster including an extra $ for a $2 kicker and a 23 man roster.

x - Chicago Bears - 5

x - Green Bay Packers - 3

9 - Cleveland Browns - 1

Took two great Ds and the Browns for their under-rated return game. The other $1 D combos didn't feel right.

Be gentle next week Turk!!!

If the fantasy stars scoring cut line is accurate, im alive! Wont believe it till I see it tomorrow though.

I have 141.8

Cutoff projected at 140

Wow

Awfully close actually. Looks like my stats land on 141.45, but it may be as high as 141.5. I'll give it a range of 141.4-141.5 as my error range. You are safe though if your scoring is correct. Even if you used Orton (he scored -.1 on the final kneels that didn't roll in), you should be OK.

Thanks. I didn't check out bye weeks, but it was fun to look back and build the perfect team with 20/20 hindsight. Here's what I got:QBs: 3, $50

Schaub

Big Ben

Flacco

RBs: 6, $87

Ronnie Brown

Rice

Benson

Bradshaw

Choice

Buckhalter

WRs: 7, $78

VJax

Driver

Smith NYG

MSW

Austin

Burleson

S.Rice

TEs: 3, $19

Shockey

Celek

Finley

Defense 2x$3 = $6

Kickers 3x$1 +$3

Total 24 players, $243

Man I wish I got more into the contest this year. I submitted a line-up on the last day with only about 30 minutes to look at it. Still alive tho. Looking forward to breaking this down all next summer.

Its going to take a near perfect week 7, with the following on bye for me (# of weeks they have scored points for my team):

Matt Hasselbeck (2)

Matthew Stafford (1)

Kevin Smith (6)

Julius Jones (5)

LenDale White (0)

Nate Burleson (4)

Brandon Stokley (3)

Alge Crumpler (4)

Jason Hanson (3)

Denver Broncos (3)

My RBs (only W. Parker and Betts) are especially challenging. It's going to be hard to pull out another week, but anything can happen.

Assuming I have the proper teams advancing right now (no guarantees, but its awfully close right now), here's the bye week breakdown by number of teams with number of players off...32 0210 1561 2980 31167 4940 5632 6306 7121 839 910 102 11+Looks like about 160 teams are fairly hosed out of the gate, with another 900+ pretty crippled. May make the cut fairly low next week.

I think you have a nice team here. Your team looks somewhat similar to mine. Of note- you and I are one of only five teams with both Mike Sims-Walker and NYG Steve Smith.
Code:
QB - Matt Schaub - 20QB - David Garrard - 18QB - Matt Leinart - 4RB - Ronnie Brown - 35RB - Ray Rice - 21RB - Leon Washington - 12RB - Felix Jones - 11RB - Ladell Betts - 2RB - James Davis - 2WR - Greg Jennings - 32WR - Vincent Jackson - 21WR - Josh Morgan - 15WR - Steve Smith - 12WR - Mike Sims-Walker - 9WR - Nate Washington - 6WR - Chansi Stuckey - 4WR - Robert Meachem - 3TE - Zach Miller - 12TE - Jermichael Finley - 3TE - Delanie Walker - 1PK - Robbie Gould - 2PK - Olindo Mare - 1TD - Miami Dolphins - 3TD - Cincinnati Bengals - 1

not quite sure what to make of that. i have ray rice and several middling WRs. i may take a 0 or two. especially if boldin can't go. if i get past next week i'll have my top QB and top 2 RBs and 2 WRs ready to go the rest of the way (boldin's health cooperating). i really don't see how 20-man rosters can do better than 24 in the long run to change the subject. just having 4 more potential scorers every week and to overcome injuries and byes has be worth spreading around the final $10.

It all depends on WHO's on bye...I'm one of those 632 owners with 6 on bye.

No QBs on BYE (Rodgers & McNabb)

No RBs on BYE (D-Will, Grant, Bradshaw, Felix J & Leon W)

2 WR on BYE (Mason as my WR#3 who's only counted 3 times & D.Butler who's been dead weight)

1 TE on BYE (Heap as my TE#2 with 2 others playing)

2 PK on BYE (this is where I'm hurting... Need Dawson to play next week to avoid a goose egg @ PK)

1 DEF on BYE (SEA as my DEF#3, only counted once with 2 others playing)

My biggest weakness is at WR... 4 playing, but with DJax & VJax at the top, I think I'll be OK here. This week is my biggest concern, though.

I guess the point is, I don't feel like burnt toast, just a little warm.
