***Official Texas Rangers 2011 Thread*** (1 Viewer)

Cruz locked in so very hard.

Hamilton with some good swings tonight. Even Young with a hit. Murphy still chipping in.

They all need to be on tomorrow against Verlander.

Will Deet even have anyone available to pitch in relief tomorrow?sportsI'm all bloody
I can't imagine they have anyone good, especially if they need someone to go more than one inning. Texas has to get to Verlander early.I can't find my pants.

I imagine Leyland wouldn't have a problem calling on Perry/Penny/Scherleth, assuming they have an eight run lead to work with. :mellow:Meanwhile, Scott Feldman is up to eight and a third scoreless innings in the playoffs. 3 hits, 0 walks, 9 Ks. :excited:

We are suppose to have a practice for my son's baseball team today, right in the middle of the game.

I'm the coach, I can cancel right??

:firstworldproblem:

Game 5 lineup:

1 Kinsler 2B

2 Andrus SS

3 Hamilton CF

4 Young DH

5 Beltre 3B

6 Napoli C

7 Cruz RF

8 Murphy LF

9 Moreland 1B

Game 5 lineup: 1 Kinsler 2B2 Andrus SS3 Hamilton CF4 Young DH5 Beltre 3B6 Napoli C7 Cruz RF8 Murphy LF9 Moreland 1B
I don't know why, but I like Moreland back in the lineup today. I could see him turning on a Verlander fastball and getting some redemption.

it's gonna rain out. don't sweat it.
Doesn't look like weather improves until Monday. They need to try and get this in today.
The X-Factor freaks will spazz if they don't start it on time.

I'm not sure I like Beltre playing today. Let him get two days of rest on the leg. Dude looks awful at the plate.

He is one of the few to have any success against Verlander though. Hopefully he's feeling better.

Best reason ever to root for a rain delay.

Bad luck on that bounce off 3rd base. But that's baseball. I figured after loading the bases with a 4 pitch walk Ian would lay off the first pitch and make Verlander throw a strike. Bailed him out there and kept him in the game. Huge momentum shift. Let's win game 6. I think we take it Max "Cy Young" Scherzer Saturday.

I'd like to say I'm not concerned. Trying to get my scene control in order to go to game 6.
Momentum shift. I have much more confidence in the 2 Detroit starters vs the 2 Texas starters.Tigers get a day off, Young looking healthy, Raburn is hot. Love Young and Raburn against Holland.Texas has the better relief pitchers for sure. Why does Cruz bat 7th?

Doctor Detroit, is this considered trolling?? Just curious. TIA. Will answer yours.

This is basically the same situation in the ALCS last year.I got my scene control worked out and will be there Saturday. Anyone else?

I'm coaching Saturday afternoon, will be able to get to a TV in time for first pitch, but would not be able to get to the park in time.Tell me what you are wearing so I can look for you on my TV that is smaller than CJ's.

As long as Scherzer isn't getting that called strike a foot off the plate we will win. The good Holland will show up tomorrow.

That was a great call. That ump was on his game that day!I'll believe Holland is good when I see it.
"Good Holland" could give the bullpen the night off. "Bad Holland" could be replaced by Feldman in the first inning. No idea which one will show up, but I have a pretty good feeling...The Dutch Oven is pretty resilient when it comes to bouncing back from bad outings. July 2nd he couldn't make it out of the first. Five days later he threw a shutout.

It was both. Oakland on July 7, Seattle on July 14.I see a bunch of bad outings that followed bad, or average, outings in the first half of the season. He was much better over the 2nd half but the bulk of the batting orders he faced in the 2nd half were of the light hitting variety.

That's baseball. After removing his own team from consideration, how many "heavy hitting" lineups are there in the AL? Two? Can't be more than four. Hell the Royals were sixth in runs scored. THE ROYALS!!11!

Well, with 15 postseason HR's, to 11 by Texas, 10 by Milwaukee, and 7 by St. Louis, I think it's safe to say Detroit is one of the more heavy hitting lineups.

Regular season OPS:Red Sux .810

Yankees .800

Rangers .788

Tigers .773

Cardinals .766

Brewers .750

Royals .744

And the Royals can flat out hit, they just can't pitch at all.

Does tOSB tinker with things going into the WS?

I don't think that the lineup changes much. In the NL park games, Napoli will catch with Young playing first. Moreland won't get 6 ABs during this series.

I think your rotation goes:

Wilson

Lewis

Holland

Harrison

Letting Lewis pitch on the road and Holland at home. That does put Holland up for a potential game seven, but we will cross that bridge when we get there.

there are worse things than having to have torry and mitch on the bench to bat for pitchersJust like last year the NL may as well exist on Mars to me. Anyone got anything on these two teams? I'd rather play STL because the Mil park isn't as good to see on TV  That's all I got.

I didn't remember the series going 9 days last year. thought it was 10. Yeah, you gotta have Lewis set up for a game 7.

Not a big fan of the whole homefield based on All-Star game thing right now. 96 wins, ties us with Milwaukee for third most overall. Not sure how that tie would normally be broken for the #3 seed. St Louis and their 90 wins gets them #8, and homefield in the WS.

At least we had some control this time with Wash managing, but his hands were tied when it came to pitching in that game. Verlander, Sabathia, Felix, Lester, Beckett, Price and Mariano all unavailable.

CJ got the loss, so I guess we can't complain too much. The rule is still dumb, but at least it wasn't completely out of our hands.

CJ just knew he was starting game one, and he wanted to hit. He had it planned all along.

Like I've been telling myself all post-season: If you split one of the first two, the tables turn and it is a 5-game series with the first 3 at your place.

2-3-2 is a just tremendous advantage for the road team if they find a way to split one of the first 2.

Did some light reading. Looking at matchups. Keep in mind I have next to no knowledge of the NL.

Game 1

CJ v Carpenter: Dicey one here. CJ looks gassed, mentally and physically. Carpenter at least has one QS in the PS.

Game 2

Lewis v Garcia: On any metric I can see this looks to be a huge advantage to Rangers here. Garcia is not in the same class as the 2-4 starters for the Tigers or Rays.

Game 3

Holland v Jackson: This also looks to be a nice matchup. the Home/Road split for Jackson are bad and Holland on the first day at home after a road trip gets run support that is otherworldly. I think slight SP edge to Rangers.

Game 4

Harrison v Lohse: Lohse is a guy that who had his best stuff years ago. Road ERA split isn't that great. Tossup.

I still like the vets on the road and kids at home. Much better than the flipside IMO.

STL won the first series because Philly had 0 offense. They won the next series because the Brewers had no pitching. They haven't played a complete team yet. They were 10 games out of their division in August. They had to burn some matches just to get this far. Rangers aren't 100% healthy, but they were wearing down this point last year all over.

I can see why it's a -150 ML on the series. The paper on this reads right.

I need a break too. These games are just grueling to watch in person or on TV.

We'll still do this to everyone on Saturday night from section 207. :hey:

Good point. Hoping to hear
