***Official Texas Rangers 2015 Thread*** - Congrats Banister! (1 Viewer)

So Prince's contract is through 2020 at $24MM per, correct?
Yes, with Det picking up $6 million a year for years 2016-2020.

Small sample size. I'm not worried yet. He made a nice diving play yesterday (or Sat? I was drunk). Something as simple as that can get someone going.

- Darvish: 1-0 \ 0.00 \ 0.67 \ 15 IP \ 08 H \ 15 SO \ 2 BB
- RobbieR: 1-0 \ 1.00 \ 1.22 \ 18 IP \ 14 H \ 13 SO \ 8 BB
- MartinP: 2-0 \ 2.70 \ 1.30 \ 20 IP \ 10 H \ 12 SO \ 6 BB

Need to get Scheppers back to the bullpen ASAP and hope he isn't broken. This isn't working. #obvioustalk
The good part is that with all of the big innings he's allowed...none have been the first inning. So he's still good for an inning....right? :crossfingers:

I just can't hang with the late finishes. There, I said it. I watch the 27 out recaps in the morning. Takes about 15 minutes.

Online? I didn't make it last night. Went to bed after the sixth.

This team sure is pulling out some unlikely wins.

Yeah Id like to know where 27 out recaps are as well. mlb usually has good recap videos but doesn't sound like the format you are talking about.

Martin Perez is a beast.

Will miss kittenface. I wonder what Grubes thinks.
Grubes most likely on suicide watch.

Not sure you can pull anything over on Beane but I like the trade for Texas. Another area of surplus where you go and get something you don't have.
Gentry had a 3.4 WAR over a mere 106 games. He has the best UZR of any CF since UZR started in 2002.

Choice could be good if he fixes his swing, but he's a power hitter who hasn't hit for much power since the Cali league.

If Beane's willing to trade within the division, you're probably better off just running the other way.
Was kinda cool that both of these guys were batting leadoff today.

Strong night for the metro area all around. amirite?
My sports panties were going crazy. GB having a wife who doesn't complain too much about the extra 40" tv sitting next to the main tv. Definitely needed that again last night.

BTW how do the Ticket guys not have a setup like that? They talk about flipping between games, which seems ridiculous considering what they do for a living.

hell, half of them are too busy practicing/playing in their weekend bands to watch sports like a even regular Joe. Bob, Norm and Jake are the only ones I am convinced actually like and watch sports pretty much everyday.

I'm not sure where you begin to try and fix this thing. In the situation where profar comes back and struggles then you have a giant mess.

I do think Wash is gone, and maybe soon.

In two days you bat Wilson and Robertson 2nd after removing Elvis from that spot.

In those two days they have come to bat with 8 men on base and gone a combined 0-10 in that timespan.

I just don't think Washington really understands how to set a lineup card for NL parks, or even handle the NL game.

The Rangers have a too top heavy roster. pretty much a player earns a ton of money or nothing. The best teams we have had were when guys like Moreland and Murphy were hitting like 8th. There is no roster depth. Unless the top 4 or 5 players are all hitting at once, this offense is not much better than that Astros spit I follow also.

So are we back to Elvis' contract setting us up for failure? Just curious.

Just to the above point the batters make 87 million. 5 players make up 64 of that. 64 is what the Rays pay their entire offense.

I not a Wash fan, but I can't see him getting fired for a number of reasons.

1. Injuries- not his fault

2. Check out the names of guys on the roster and in the bullpen. Daniel Robertson, Josh Wilson, a guy named Tolleson, Poreda, Joe Saunders. That's a pretty rough looking group.

3. JD can't afford to part Wash after losing Nolan. It would be a media PR nightmare.

I just can't see it happening this year unless Wash loses control of the team and they finish below 500.

This really sucks....

In the last hour, the Rangers announced that Martin Perez has a partial tear in the UCL in his throwing elbow, and among his options is to undergo Tommy John surgery, which would end his 2014 season and likely make him a non-factor for most, if not all, of 2015.

Added to that was the news that Matt Harrison has a displaced verterba and significant nerve irritation in his back, and that spinal fusion surgery could be a consideration, which would not only wipe out his 2014 but possibly threaten his career.

The Harrison thing was predictable.

The Perez situation effectively kills this team as any sort of contender for multiple years.

I get the sense they will just pay Cruz what he wants for lack of better options and do a deadline deal for an expiring arm.

Harrison will never pitch more than 100 innings a year. Mark it down.
:coffee:

And Cruz would not have been the worst thing ever

Think I know where Scherzer will end up next year.

:kicksrock:

Looking like my summer evenings are going to be free. Maybe I'll start True Detective or something. Ranger games relegated to second tv for the foreseeable future.

My wife might not "let" me go to a game this year out of fear that whatever injury bug the Rangers have going on will start jumping on random fans. Absolutely silly at this point.

How does a herniated disk get by the pre-trade physical? This would seem to be something that could be caught in one of those.

I assume he's done for the year as well.

JD said on the radio that physicals aren't usually done on trades... teams usually trade medical notes and if there's something suspicious they will investigate it. Also said that a typical physical probably wouldn't have found this as it would have required an MRI.

Lovely JD presser:

Fielder under the knife Tuesday, out for the season

Profar re-injured, most likely sleeping

Robertson broke his face today.

Good ####### times....
