GDB this game.  I was up until 1:30 playing it.  When the alarm clock went off at 6:15 I was really hurting.

Forced myself to turn the computer off at 1145 after playing for about 3 hours. As a side note, anyone know where to find some ghosts? I need to gather some ectoplasm

I can tell you if you really want to know.

I've already stumbled on some just doing random dungeons near where you start. Killed them with my awesome level 2 character. I assume they are fairly common in crypts!?! Oh, I should add, my character has advanced to level 3 since then.

Go South East of the Imperial City. There is a Fort Magika with a ghost in it.

Currently level 4 and advancing pretty well. Started the main quest sort of (got tired of the amulet in my inventory) and am in Chorrol doing the investigation. The variety of quests in this game is amazing.

HOLY ####!!!! No I didn't get the game. As some of the people know who have been in this thread I gave up spending any money on anything except essentials (which of course includes ) for Lent. So I can't buy Oblivion yet. Well, the other problem is that my rig only has a 128 MB video card. And since I'm getting married in 6 months and buying a house in the next couple of months, buying a new pimp card wasn't a good idea. I actually resolved myself to not read this thread anymore because it was likely that I would not be getting this game till October.

Weeelllllllll.......Just found out that the company just ponied up for new laptops for the Network Engineers which I happen to be one of. What sort of laptop could possibly play Oblivion? How about an SPX with a 17 inch widescreen monitor, 2 GB of RAM and a 7800 256 MB video card!!!! I'm set up!!! I can buy the game in 3 weeks when Lent is over and got a sweet portable rig to play it on. I can plug an SVideo cable into my Widescreen TV and I'm good to go!!!!

Ghosting? If you mean burn in that is not an issue with LCD.

even though it's 8ms, I never have any problems with ghosting.

I think if you're going to buy a new mon, buy widescreen.

No, he means ghosting in that the refresh rate cannot keep up with the game, causing there to be a ghosting of the image. However, to be honest, you will not notice anything that has at least a 16ms response time.I have the 19" Sceptre Gamer from Newegg and it is freaking awesome.

It is due back in stock in 2 days, but for the price it is amazing. The brightness realyl stands out. It looks just like those Sony's that cost $600-700. It has DVI and even comes with a DVI cable that is high quality, which is like a $60 value right there. The contrast, response and brightness make this one a no-brainer.

lolI have been doing a lot of the quests that have investigations and crap. My skills aren't going up very fast because of it, but it is fun. I am halfway to getting my entrance in the Arcane University, as well.

Here is my stand on this issue - Bethesda created a game WITHOUT any copyright protection to make it easier on the gamer. No malware, whatever. You have to support the companies that do this. I paid my $60 proudly knowing that fact.

Yeah....I'm gonna wait....I would love play it now and even if I were to download it right now I would still buy it after Lent. I always pay for my games.

I always pay for games that keep my interest for more than a few days. I use newsgroups to get copies of games. I have downloaded a hundred games over the past few years. I have ended up paying for several dozen that ended up being worth buying.I know it's probably a vicious cycle/catch 22 type thing, but given PC game return policies, I am NOT paying $50 for something that I MIGHT enjoy playing.

When it comes to downloading movies and music, I only download old stuff that is hard to find in most stores.

For example, I just downloaded Battle Beyond the Stars, which is an awesome movie if you recall from your childhood (early 80s).

Even though I'm a programmer (of sorts), I can sleep at night with this set of scruples.

I know it's probably a vicious cycle/catch 22 type thing, but given PC game return policies, I am NOT paying $50 for something that I MIGHT enjoy playing.

Magazine and Online reviews down? Seriously, you may be honest in what you say. But I hear this "argument" all the time from folks that pirate software and raise the price of gaming for everyone. There are enough reviews out there that go in to detail that I find it hard to believe you can't find out exactly what you're buying beforehand.

I wish I could find some decent weapons. I'm using a fine iron longsword and an iron shield. The 1 extra point of damage from fine iron to regular steel wasn't worth the encumberance difference. I've found a grand total of one silver arrow. Everything else has been steel or iron.

Get out and adventure. I have found about 10 different silver weapons in various dungeons. Of course, I had to sell them all. because my pansy wood elf is a wussy and cannot carry very much, but that is besides the point. It is out there, as well as good armor. I have armor valued at over 3000 for the 2 pieces (helmet and cuirass) and steel bow with steel arrows. Hoping for elven armor someday.

I know it's probably a vicious cycle/catch 22 type thing, but given PC game return policies, I am NOT paying $50 for something that I MIGHT enjoy playing.

Magazine and Online reviews down? Seriously, you may be honest in what you say. But I hear this "argument" all the time from folks that pirate software and raise the price of gaming for everyone. There are enough reviews out there that go in to detail that I find it hard to believe you can't find out exactly what you're buying beforehand.

I have 2 subscriptions that stay in my crapper - Computer Gaming World and Computer Games. By the time a game comes out, you have a good idea if you want it or not. And even still, I have wasted money.

Another good alternative is try the gametz.com - Game trading zone. I have gotten a lot of games by trading my older PC games that I would not have gotten otherwise. Some are great, others I am glad I traded for. I have a stack of games I have traded for that who knows if I will ever play - Chronicles of Riddick, Bros in Arms: Earned in Blood, Nexus Project, KOTOR 2: Sith Lords, etc.

I wish I could find some decent weapons.  I'm using a fine iron longsword and an iron shield.  The 1 extra point of damage from fine iron to regular steel wasn't worth the encumberance difference.  I've found a grand total of one silver arrow.  Everything else has been steel or iron.

Not being able to pillage in the arena is bull####. 

Get out and adventure. I have found about 10 different silver weapons in various dungeons. Of course, I had to sell them all. because my pansy wood elf is a wussy and cannot carry very much, but that is besides the point. It is out there, as well as good armor. I have armor valued at over 3000 for the 2 pieces (helmet and cuirass) and steel bow with steel arrows. Hoping for elven armor someday.

I've been out and about, but I didn't realize you didn't level until you slept in a bed. So I went from level 1 to level 5 so I have a feeling I'm going to get pVVnd as soon as I go into the next dungeon.

Don't feel bad, same here. I kept trying to rest in a dungeon. Finally figured out I needed a bed. Finally stumbled on a small hamlet only to find I couldn't rest there until I figured out why everyone was invisible!

That also explains your crappy equipment. Monsters and loot spawn according to your level. My complaint is that I've found tons of great heavy armor (magic shields, dwarven equipment) and I'm light armor. I've also found a few magic swords but I'm a blunt/axe guy.

You can use a blue stone to recharge, as well. Can't remember the name. There are a bunch in the dungeon across the lake from the sewers.

Crap. I now have a magic sword with no charge and I already did that dungeon and didn't pick up any stones. I have the ones that recharge your mana but that's it. I think I finally got a soul trap scroll though. I need to effectively kill something. I got one shot at it.

GDB this game.  I was up until 1:30 playing it.  When the alarm clock went off at 6:15 I was really hurting.

Forced myself to turn the computer off at 1145 after playing for about 3 hours. As a side note, anyone know where to find some ghosts? I need to gather some ectoplasm
