Where's the best place to go to get some lockpicks?  Seems like I can find most anything in chests and barrels, but I can't find any lockpicks.

I used to get them from Armand Christophe, but now he's stopped selling them.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Slash n' Smash in the Imperial Market has them
<{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Much appreciated.

I think thats only if you're in the thieves guild. I didn't see them there last time I looked (prior to joining the TG). Check with SHADY SAM! Outside the Imperial City at the stables, go behind the stables and walk along the outside of the city wall....go about 10 wall "sections" and keep your eye out for a guy in black. He'll have 30 lockpicks everytime his inventory refreshes, every day or two.

Dang this game is more addicting than crack cocaine :P

The dungeons / caves / sewers are fricken HUGE!

Level 4 and hope to hit level 5 tonight.

Finally have lock picking figured out.... I went through a ton of lock picks :bag:

Anybody do the "Go Fish" quest in village Werre just across the bridge from the stables of Imperial City?

Some nasty fish in the lake

Nice little gift for completing the quest though.

What do you do with a filled soul gem?

I found some empty soul gems and bought a soul trap scroll and now have a soul gem with a mud crab soul (I know its a very small soul and won't do much)

I click on the filled soul gem and the soul gem screen comes up but I can't figure out how to use it

You have to find the shrine, it's out in the woods. It's just off the road down to Llewyan South of the road to Cheydinal.

You have to progress in the Mages guild Quests. Once you gain access to the university (you have a fair amount of work to do first), you go to the chirroseum (sp?) in the univesity and there you can enchant armour and weapons and jewelry with soul gems. Enchanting allows you to add specific attributes to your stuff (more damage, better protection, increase you magic. etc)

I just meant you had the choice of those things. I have not figured this out yet either (don't know if its possible.) I have waepons I've gotten on quests that have multiple attributes, but for the life of me can't create them myself. I was hoping the sigil stones would work this way, but they don't.

Can I sell the filled soul gem for some $$ or should I hang onto it until I get into the mages guild??

honestly, if all it is is a petty gem with a mud crab soul....feh. I wouldn't bother with it. Sell it. By the time you progress enough to get to where you need to be in the university, you will be fighting mountain lions and bears and #### like that, and will have gathered much better soul gems by then. It's not really worth it to waste the only enchantment you can put on an item with a lowly gem soul IMO.

Disagree. Even a petty soul will charge for 400, and that is 400 gold you can save recharging your items.

Feel free to make fun of me. I have been without the video card in my gaming rig (X1900XT) for almost a week, and the replacement (X1800XT) will be in tomorrow. I have been forced to game without HDR between my X850XT at work and my 6800 Go on my laptop.

Well, if we're all confessing, I'm at level 14 and haven't trapped my first soul yet. I still panic every time I get into combat and forget about it. :bag:

I'm on my 4th character and I have yet to trap a soul either. I've been planning to make one of my bows a soul trapper, but I'd like to put some other powers with it. Since I haven't been able to figure that out I have yet to make an enchanted item or done a soul trap.

The best is to have a high damage bow - sneak attack and get them down to next to zero health. At this point, get a dagger or short sword that you have enchanted to steal souls out and finish it. You get more mileage that way.I created a bow I call Storm Bringer that goes ridiculous lightening damage in an area for like 5 seconds. By the time I hit once and rearm with Soul Sucker, it is a done deal.

Huh. I've only seen the spell - didn't know you could enchant an item to do it. I'm usually too busy trying to avoid an ***whipping to think about a positive aspect of survival other than, well, survival.

I have a nice Bow of Blizzard that does area effect cold damage. Then I have an Akavari Sunderblade with 100 point disinegrate armor and 100 point disinegrate weapon. A couple whacks with my sword and they are fighting H2H.

I am still relatively low level (23) so I don't have such awesome stuff. The downside of that blade, of course, if that you cannot salvage their lewt.

You can still get their loot, you just have to fix it if you want to use it. Also, as long as you're an apprentice of mercantile the quality of the item has no bearing on the price you get for it.

OK, here's where we really nerd out. List the names of what you've called your favorite weapons you've enchanted. I'll start:

3. Wig Splitta (daedric longsword with drain health 50 pts for 3 sec)

I lewted a black soul gem off some necromancer, not that I know what to do with it. Took me forever to kill that guy.

Still got 4 more MG quests to go. Hope that Oblivion gate in Kvatch can wait...

I also created Water Logger - a ring with water breathing.

Oh and my bow also had 20% weakness to shock for the same duration. :headbang: :pickle:

That's all, huh? I have several full grands, so I will have to go creating again.
