Ah yes, meant to include that in my list of zombie behavior and forgot. Yes, they showed they were capable of using tools essentially. Also, when the scouting group is trapped in the department store, one of the zombies picks up a big stone to break the glass. That is a lot more intelligence then they have been showing in seasons 2-5.Re-watched the first 2 episodes of the series, first time I've done so.
I had forgot how much different zombies acted back then. Children zombies stop to pick up stuffed animals to carry around. Zombies immediately know to try turning a door handle to get through a door. Zombies climbed chain link fences to get over them rather than just trying to push through mindlessly.
They also moved a lot faster back then, able to pretty much keep up with healthy Rick and Glenn as they ran. If we took any of this as being meaningful (as opposed to inconsistent writing), then you might suppose zombies are getting dumber and less physically able as they decompose. Once the muscles are decayed away they won't be able to move, so you could envision a day would come when all the zombies from the initial outbreak would stop being any kind of factor, and you'd just have to deal with the zombies of survivors who died more recently.
Pretty sure this was covered a long time ago in the old thread. I thought there were quotes from people in the show that the zombies did more than they were supposed to do in the first few shows, i.e. they shouldn't have been picking up stones and breaking glass and they shouldn't have been jumping and climbing. I can see where newly turned zombies could be faster because their bodies are healthier so to speak, but the stuff they were doing was a mistake IIRC.Also, when the scouting group is trapped in the department store, one of the zombies picks up a big stone to break the glass. That is a lot more intelligence then they have been showing in seasons 2-5.Re-watched the first 2 episodes of the series, first time I've done so.

I was thinking the same thing. Also when Rick's group entered the compound and the camera focused on the gate closing. Felt very much like they were being imprisoned.Wall supports on outside...to keep people in.
No question that's the imagery they were going for there.I was thinking the same thing. Also when Rick's group entered the compound and the camera focused on the gate closing. Felt very much like they were being imprisoned.Wall supports on outside...to keep people in.
Yeah it was really prominently displayed too. They clearly wanted the viewers to see it. Has to be a connection with what happened to Noah's family and that community. I recall Nicotero saying that episode was providing the groundwork for stuff to come later.Good catch on the wolf comic title connection.
Agreed, I definitely think that, although maybe she has been left behind. I need to re-watch it, but someone posted earlier that she had been there almost 8 months. Seems like a long time to to reconnaissance on a place that appears to be easy to take over. Shoot the couple people on patrol and you are basically done. Heck, the girl knows how to get in and out without being noticed, a group of 5-10 people could overrun that place easy. Kill almost everyone in their sleep.I don't think Alexandria are the wolves. I think the wolves are going to be the ones attacking Alexandria. The people of Alexandria are showing that they are too inexperienced to have pulled off an attack on Noah's community. Plus, as someone else said, with Enid having the Comic book that said "Wolf fight" on the back, I think it is very likely that she is a spy for the wolves and left the compound to update the Wolves on what is going on in the community. If these are the wolves that took out Noah's family, I hope he gets his redemption on every one of them.
Makes sense that the girl is a spy for the group too. No reason why she would just run around out there alone.Yeah it was really prominently displayed too. They clearly wanted the viewers to see it. She seemed like she went out with a purpose. Maybe she does just have a little safe place to hang out alone though.Agreed, I definitely think that, although maybe she has been left behind. If it has been 8 months, I am starting to think that maybe she isn't with a nefarious group doing recon. I can see her being left alone and being scared/not easily integrated (like Rick's group) and maybe she is going over the wall because she is looking for someone or just feels more comfortable out there.

They have definitely written this in a way that they can go multiple directions. It's The Walking Dead so we know there's going to be a "regularly scheduled s**tstorm" as Abraham would say. The show has done the evil community thing twice now. They could go down that road again but something tells me Alexandria is what it seems to be and the inevitable threat to come will either be from the outside (i.e. "the wolves") or from Rick himself. Maybe both.
given the 8 months, maybe she got to know the 3 people who got exiled... and is helping them. She seemed like she went out with a purpose. Maybe she does just have a little safe place to hang out alone though.Agreed, I definitely think that, although maybe she has been left behind. Because that's where Rosita slept. Why did they all have to huddle up in the living room? I definitely would have been snoozing in one of the bedrooms.
They're used to having someone stand guard/lookout.
Those were my thoughts. Place is highly insecure and would be no trouble to take over.Agreed, I definitely think that, although maybe she has been left behind. When Michonne walked into the living room and asked "How long was I in there?" the scene should've included Rosita quietly walking in behind her with a smile on her face.Because that's where Rosita slept. Why did they all have to huddle up in the living room? I definitely would have been snoozing in one of the bedrooms.

did you notice Carl is aging faster then Little ### Kicker?cstu said:I'm not the only one who noticed the walls are braced on the outside, am I?
I briefly had this reaction too. But I would think the wall would be much stronger having the supports on the inside where the ground would help oppose any effort to push the wall in. Supports on the outside would be fighting getting tipped up out of the ground, losing that extra strength from the ground helping.I think if you're trying to keep PEOPLE out, wall supports on the outside is a terrible idea. However, if you're trying to keep Zombies out, then it doesn't really matter and the aesthetic inside would be far nicer without the supports visible.
Either way it makes no sense to have braces on the outside because the braces are to keep the wall from being pushed over (i.e. what a horde of zombies would do). They tried to do this to the prison fence but did it too late.I think if you're trying to keep PEOPLE out, wall supports on the outside is a terrible idea. The greatest thing about this new story line is that we're all trying to ***** away the armor on Alexandria and we're waiting for the other shoe to drop and reveal this place for the evil we expect it to be. In all honesty, I think they have been fortunate to build something somewhat nice in an area that wasn't nearly as hard hit as Georgia (due to an extensive evacuation) and the other shoe might just be Rick.
Not a mistake in Darabont's vision.Pretty sure this was covered a long time ago in the old thread. So that patrol of five or six have cleared a radius of 53 miles...and on foot?
She said they are for "Full transparency" so yea, it is to show to all people that are already there ..Did they explain why she wanted to tape them?
Casting couch maybe? "For you to stay, I am going to need to see that you can follow instructions, so what I need for you to do now is ................."
He's nothing but a pu#sy shi#bird now.I hope the Priest gets eaten just because I hate seeing Sergeant Carver turned into something so pathetic.
Not if you had significant cement anchors that the braces were tied to. Pushing on the wall would be trying to pull the anchors out which is tough versus trying to bury those anchors with houses around. I mean, sure, they probably did it for the sake of filming in an active community, but I don't think it's terrible design. I think it's still worth noting that you would rethink fortifications when dealing with Zombies versus people.I briefly had this reaction too. But I would think the wall would be much stronger having the supports on the inside where the ground would help oppose any effort to push the wall in. In the case of the prison, the braces would bend or dig into the earth without sufficient anchors. With the braces on the outside, if secured the braces sufficiently to the wall, you'd be trying to pull the brace instead of bend/snap the brace. I'm no engineer, but I think that with sufficient anchors in place, that might be a stronger system if your goal is simply to prevent the wall from collapsing.Either way it makes no sense to have braces on the outside because the braces are to keep the wall from being pushed over (i.e. what a horde of zombies would do). The braces are on the outside because the show is being filmed in a real PUD.
If the braces are welded to the wall and have deep enough footings it may work. I just think it's a poor design in reality. In the case of the prison, the braces would bend or dig into the earth without sufficient anchors. compression is going to work better than tension... supports are on the wrong side of the wall.If the braces are welded to the wall and have deep enough footings it may work. they have an rv and cars with bad gas.So that patrol of five or six have cleared a radius of 53 miles...and on foot?![]()
first one in a while that you haven't seen, I'm guessing. What a great episode. Pretty much flawless. This show just keeps getting better and better.

He said what he wasn't.Did Eugene say what he really was? I may have missed it.
I thought it was rather strange for the sequester of weapons. You'd think they would allow you to at least retain a revolver for emergencies. This would be useful if a group of non-zombie folk came a'callin. Right now, if the girl is an accomplis, she could throw a different lock around the gun locker and when they group came over the walls (if she didn't open the gates), they would go straight for the gun locker. They would then be able to take their time in going house to house killing the current homeowners.Just as a overall annoyance. What is with the checking of weapons. In a real #### storm it is going wild west and there is no avoiding it.
I guess no one is real concerned about one of the old folks having a heart attack and eating everyone at night. Just reminds me of the unlocked prison doors.
Oh hey we are being invaded who has the key to the guns?
Also this video "audition" is not over. I would bet at some point they try to vote out Daryll because he doesn't fit in and they can't find a job for him, causing some friction. That is the only reason I can see to video taping the meet and greet to pass it around for voting or something.
On another note.
It was a really great tv moment when Carl walked into the bedroom with the kids who had know idea what was going on outside.

good stuff.Really enjoyed the ep this week. Seems like the group is mostly a mix of "we need this," such as Michonne and Glenn, and "this place will make us weak," such as Carl, Carol and Rick. Though, I'm sure they all have a mix of both of those mindsets.
So, what are the congresswoman's real intentions behind bringing Rick's family into the community? Manpower, muscle, zombie experience; all are obvious needs. But based on the congresswoman's response to her son being knocked down, it seems as though she may know her group is too soft. And I almost wonder if there is a power struggle or conflict already taking place in the community; thus, she is bringing on some muscle and a new constable to possibly keep that at bay.
