As you posted...Eugene has done this before.. Be someone he is not in order to fit in and be safe..95% sure D and Eugene team up as "Insiders" to help Rick .. Everything about the episode and the ending points that way..I liked the episode a lot and Dwight is easily one of my least favorite characters. I am growing tired of the "Will he turn on Negan or won't he?" hoo ha. It's been 3 episodes now so hopefully that's done although I'm guessing it's not based on how Dwight knows he gave up the Doc to save himself. But I really liked the Eugene stuff. Gut says he hasn't flipped but is doing what he does best - parlaying a lot of BS about himself in such a way it keeps him safe. It's exactly what he did when he found Abe and he's doing it now with Negan. Sound smart and make it seem like you're vital to the cause and the power in charge will protect you.
The smirk on his face after he whimpered in front of Negan was great. It's possible Rick now has someone on the inside with access to stuff that could prove helpful down the road - assuming Eugene has the stones to deliver.
I thought this was a damn good episode. Great character work for Eugene.
Overall though, the 1 hour and 10 minutes could have EASILY just been a 15 to 30 minute part of an episode, with other groups intertwined and I wouldn't have been nearly as bored as I was watching last night. Oh well, there is always next week
