***OFFICIAL 'The Walking Dead' TV Series Thread*** (14 Viewers)

Nothing worse than people who don't like a show and instead of turning it off, they make a ton of posts trying to ruin everyone else's enjoyment of the show. We get it. You don't like it. How many more times do you have to restate the same friggan opinion?
:goodposting: Serious waste of everyones time, theirs included.
:goodposting: This thread has already died. I think it took Lost at least 3 seasons before the real complainers showed their stuff. Complaint about why zombies don't all act the same highlights some of the silly thoughts. Of course they don't all react exactly the same. Complain about acting, don't complain about a zombie wandering in an open door and then hearing her drop a gun or complain about a zombie looking under a car after seeing a girl crawl out from under the car. I wouldn't expect a zombie to search under cars, but I can't be surprised about one looking under it after seeing a living human squirm back under it.All the complaining is annoying enough to make me stay out of the thread. It sucked the life out of the last couple Lost threads.
Lost sucked itself dry.My posts in here have been my opinion about the show - many times they are meant to be funny (at least for this season).
Eh, it may have in your opinion, but I am pretty sure there is a big difference between Dentist and The Dude in the Lost threads and folks like you. Similar to the difference between you and Malloy. One tries to make funny comments, like the hand grenade, and one tries to make himself look smart and make people mad by acting like comics are toilet paper. I will let you decide which you think the "super fans" finds annoying.

I keep wondering if zombies ever die (again) without being killed? Since they are perpetually in search of food, would they eventually starve (die again) if they go too long without it?
Thats something that you would think they would touch on or build the series around. You would think the survivors would just find somewhere to hole up for a few months and wait things out. Also why dont they have any automatic weapons? They shouldnt be that hard to find.

I was really disappointed in this show last season. Started off strong, then just got stale.

The season premier was just like that--first 50 mins were awesome, but it just flat out died. Going to give it another episode or two, but this is mediocre TV imo.

These comments are not inspiring me to watch. Looks like more of the same annoying details that ruin a great concept.
Why dont you watch the show and decide for yourself? seems most people on this thread are zombie experts and care more about criticizing every little thing instead of enjoying a pretty entertaining show...World War Z was awesome.
The problem being it's NOT a pretty entertaining show. The premise is unbelievably entertaining. The start of the series was pretty entertaining. Between the premise and the debut, it hooked a lot of us. As Scooby mentioned, it would be fine if it wanted to be a fun and mindless zombie action show. It would also be fine if it wanted to be a serious character driven drama. It seems it doesn't know which it wants to be. And it does a crappy job jumping between both. It's not a matter of being zombie experts (though I'm sure every fbg is). It's a matter of recognizing massive inconsistencies. I don't need to be able to throw a 95 mph fastball to recognize a good pitcher. I don't need to be the next Jerry Rice to recognize the next great receiver. I don't need to write a great tv show to recognize a quality plot. Hell, most of us stuck around because we were willing to give the writers time to work out the bumps. Even Seinfeld got off to a rocky start. But I'm not seeing much improvement. It's the same flaws. And that's maddening. If you like it rock on. But I'm incredibly frustrated because I've given this show much of my time. It's shown tremendous potential. And it's rarely come close to hitting its potential.
Once again Dr. Awesome lives up to his name.

What's interesting about threads like this is you see that many of the people watching have very linear thinking. They have a view and can't understand the show or writing because it doesn't fit their concept of what they think the show should look like.

Where would you go first to find them? Without the Internet to lookup gun store locations, where would you go? Seems to me that after bailing on Atlanta (which was a decent idea) after bailing on their safe location, they are heading to Fort Benning. Seems like they are doing what I would expect, so what would you do different and would you be dead right now because of your search? Also, pretty sure they were holed up in a spot for a few months and that got overrun, for a reason we don't know yet. They went to the CDC and thought they had found a place to hole up and learn. Seems to me that they are now in search of a new spot to hole up.

:lmao: You must love the Internet, allowing yourself to look better in your own opinion.
How does this work? I'm posting anonymously. Do you think I print out my posts to show people in real life? And stop lashing out at me just because you have really questionable taste in TV shows. It's not going to help you get better.

:goodposting: See my post above. I think I answered the concerns pretty easily. Maybe that is why some folks can enjoy the show because we can see how not all zombies are different and how it isn't in the interest of safety to just try and find an automatic weapon, which may sound cool, but may not be that effective. It is kind of funny that people complaining about the show would mention an automatic weapon, like the M-16 which is probably the most common one in the US. It is ironic as some of the same people mentioned World War Z as a great thing and the author of that actually doesn't recommend the M-16 in his Zombie Survival Guide. Some people just like to complain.

-sigh-Why can there only be SUPER FANS and PEOPLE WHO HATE THE SHOW. There's no middle ground? If somebody is critical of something it doesn't necessarily mean they don't like the show overall or want to ruin your enjoyment. Those who are frustrated about certain aspects want to express themselves as much as those who have no complaints. There is plenty to discuss about this show and it's not all going to be raving about it. Someone could turn around and say "We get it. You like it. How many more times do you have to restate the same friggin opinion". No? This show isn't perfect. The thread should be about what people like and don't like about it IMO. All of one or the other wouldn't be that interesting to me.
:goodposting: We are complaining because we did like the show. We liked the premise. We liked the first couple episodes that drew us in and then we saw where it was veering off course. Its a shame that a potentially great show is now just a step above B movie status in terms of story and acting.

As much as I complain about the show, I still like it. I just wish I could like it more.

Unless they have Rick motorcycle jumping a pool of zombies this season, I will watch every episode until the end.

Yikes. Lots of people trying to take this show way too seriously. For whatever reason.....
Walking Dead entertains me for the time it is on and therefore gets a
Me too. I enjoyed the first episode. I thought the search for the girl went on a little too long but overall I enjoyed it and I'm fired up about the second season.

You are relatively new, so let me explain why the people who enjoy the show (not super fans) get annoyed by people who complain so much. First, you say "how many more times do you have to restate the same friggin opinion" about people liking it. Take a look at most of those posts and they tend to be replies where they are stating that they actually enjoyed the episode. None of us who like the show want to read a thread about how much people love the show. This isn't a Michael Jackson fan club site. Second, most of the restating has been "the acting is meh", "I hate Rick's monologues", "zombies wouldn't act like that" and "the writing is lazy."You know what I would like to see in this thread, actual discussion about what is happening in the show and what I might have missed. That was the best part of the Lost threads. There were tons of things people missed and lots of discussion about what we thought would happen next. That may be a little harder in here because of the "source" material, i.e. graphic novels or new age literature with pictures. The Lost threads dove into the abyss when the same set of people complained every week and added nothing to the discussion.
:goodposting: I liked the post about 2 types of zombies

Agreed, I didn't know that because I haven't read the comics. It didn't bother me that zombies weren't the same, but goonsquad's post about the comics was interesting. I hadn't thought about how we have seen both types already.

Those of us wanting to watch a TV show about zombies aren't exactly blessed with a plethora of choices.

Sorry if I touched a nerve. Really. I know there are a lot of people that need to use television as an escape mechanism. I get it. Sometimes life in general can be a huge drag. Your job is terrible, your wife is horrid, things didn't turn out the way they wanted to. I know that happens to some people and they turn to things like TV and movies to escape. I'm not judging you, bro. Keep enjoying TWD. You deserve it.

One reason they tend to not want to actually use firearms to kill the zombies is that wandering zombies may hear the shot and head in that direction. While you can move away from the location you may be drawing zombies to you from the direction you wish to travel. Now that we know zombies flock, you may just be building a larger and larger herd, until you are overrun by a wave of zombies. I think we will see them getting farther away from firearms and more toward melee weapons. Or maybe not. We will have to see how they handle it.

My favorite mellee weapon to use on Zombies is the Wakizashi with the Deathstalker Mod.A cheap weapon to use early is Cane knife.

how bad must your life suck if you keep watching a show you hate, and then spend your days complaining about it afterwards?

What was the kid going to do with/to the deer, anyway? Walk up to it and hack it with his mini scythe? The thing was either going to run away or trample him as soon as he took a swing at it.

 Did you miss the pistol in his hand?
Guess so. Last I recall, he was carrying one of the weapons from the stash he got off the dead guy in the car. But if he had a pistol, why didn't he just shoot it instead of risking it running away by invading its personal space? And why would they want him to shoot it, didn't they tell someone else not to shoot because it could attract another herd?

Seeing "Food" got all 3 :excited: and the "rules of the road" seemed to disappear.. Shane was about to shoot it when Dad pointed out the Kid grabbing his pistol and tapped Shane on the Shoulder to wait.

I finally saw the season 2 premiere last night. I had serious technical issues with it. The lipsync was off pretty bad and the second recording I had of it had almost all the sound coming out of the front left speaker. Plus it was an extremely poor HD signal with a lot of grain everywhere. I was able to make some adjustment to get the lipsync close, but it still threw me off.

I thought it started out pretty silly, kept up the silliness and ended silly. Still, some potential in there for some good TV watching. I wish I hadn't read about the Governor and the Mayor or whatever other characters have been brought up, but that's on me. Still, colonies are pretty much armageddon staples so I knew they were coming sooner or later. Hoping it was later, the group needs to disintegrate a little more first. Actually disintegrate, not all of a sudden have tension that's out of the blue and has to be explained by a character because no one else saw it.

As to the topic of believability in a zombie story, scooby nailed it. It has to be believable within the "laws" that it set for itself. Otherwise it feels off.

Bah, the lipsync ruined it for me so maybe it was better than I thought. We'll see next week.

Uh, no. I'm saying I was bugged by the technical issues and that annoyance stopped me from enjoying it.

Well, the first two or three seasons were really good.
I thought it kind of stunk from the beginning.
I watched the first season on DVD - thought it was interesting. Then they found the underground stuff at the start of season 2 -that was when I quit watching because I found it too far fetched.

:lmao: WTF? The kid didnt have a pistol
My Bad.. When watching it on T.V. In this clip, he seemed to reach into his pocket for something and I assumed it was a gun.. re-watching it now, it looks like he was just moving his jacket out of the way to get to his knife. So I guess Dad & Shane thought he could just walk up and stab it.. Imagine the :argue: in this thread had they let it play out that way. ;)

:lmao:

...why on earth would you think the kid was trying to kill the deer with a pistol? Why would he have a pistol in the first place? What show were you guys watching?

He was just getting closer because it was a cool situation for the kid to experience, considering that their lives were turned upside down and there were freakin' zombies around, I imagine it's a pretty cool sight to see a deer walking by so close.

gotta love the FFA.. Where even when people admit a mistake someone feels a need to pile on.. If it makes you feel better about yourself go for it.. As for my reasoning ... He pulled his hand out of his pocket and they purposely blocked whatever was in his hand.. figured his Dad or Shane gave him a pistol just in case. Here in Wisconsin it is not a shock as kids at 12 can hunt when accompanied by a parent or guardian.

What's interesting about threads like this is you see that many of the people watching have very linear thinking. They have a view and can't understand the show or writing because it doesn't fit their concept of what they think the show should look like.

People can talk about different weapons all they want but the most important consideration is the availability of ammo - and in that case a .22 is a must have since the ammo is everywhere. Laugh at the .22LR but it will kill a zombie just the same and you can carry a ridiculous amount of ammo compared to other weapons.

No wonder you like the show so much, you just make up what's going on in your head.

I think it took Lost at least 3 seasons before the real complainers showed their stuff.
Well, the first two or three seasons were really good.
I thought it kind of stunk from the beginning.
I watched the first season on DVD - thought it was interesting. Then they found the underground stuff at the start of season 2 -that was when I quit watching because I found it too far fetched.
I feel like I missed an episode or two. You talking about the CDC? That was the end of season 1, wasn't it?
