To pass the time I think I am going to start ranking the deaths of the characters based on a who went out like a ##### scale. 10 being not a ##### dying like a boss and 0 being total ##### going out like a #####.

##### death rating:

9 Merle - Pretty Boss did not get a 10 due to his ineffectiveness on Govners crew

7 T Dog - went down fighting

6 Lori - went down with a voluntary surgery with no anesthesia

6 Otis - That Farmer was killing it and had beat the zombie hoard till Shane screwed him

5 Herschel - was punked as a prisoner but not a ##### for crying

3 Govner - he had a tank and got beat up by Rick = weak

2 Dale - idiot got eaten by one zombie in a open field

2 Idiot Doctor at the CDC - who offed himself, gets a two for taking that loser Black chick with him

2 Milton - way to not kill the govner a hundred times over ####

2 Martinez - clubbed and drug a 100 yards to a zombie pit, only gets a 2 because he was drunk

1 Carols Husband- , hilarious went out like a #####

1 Harry Potter kid - died in a shower from the flu

1 Lesbian chick - got popped in the head by a 12 year old

1 Loser black chick - who offed herself at the CDC

1 The army guys that got whacked by like 3 guys one who only had one arm, just terrible.

1 The guy Rick killed on the crapper- bowling trophy? way to be a #####

0 Andrea - went out like a ##### essentially got herself killed and a some of her people stupid #####

0 The 20 armed people on the Govners crew - a one eyed guy guns ALL of you down, #####es.

Maybe these guys were from this sanctuary place.
:goodposting: now THAT would be interesting... good call
That was one of the things that I thought might bring them back into play. They would have no idea who Rick/Michonne/Carl are, but I could see Rick remembering something.

Here is my call, they get back to the Sanctuary, think everything is hunky dory and then Rick sees tennis ball guy come back there and be real chummy with the leader of the Sanctuary and then of course he realizes things aren't going to be wonderful after all.

By the way, I don't read the comics, but as with every single place our crew will hit, there is going to be something that drives them somewhere else. My thought is the Sanctuary won't be all bliss after awhile. Something about the name being a safe place that pretty much means it isn't.
I don't read the comics and neither does my son, but somewhere he read that the people at Sanctuary might engage in cannibalism. Maybe someone who reads the comics can comment on this.
That was actually a side group they ran into before ending up at the sanctuary I believe. SO much is different between the comic and the show now though. Those people were the ones that killed Dale from what I remember and ate his leg
Phew, I was worried about reading those, but nothing bad. Sounds interesting depending on how they do it. Still have no clue what will happen though.

Carl is a horrible actor...I know we rag on them but dude stood out as especially awful during that breakfast table discussion...while trying to act like he said the baby's name on accident and then was saddened...it was so bad and went over like a lead balloon. How the director didn't say, "Cut...hold on...let's shoot that one about 200 more times..." is beyond me...just terrible actor.

And then when he's trying to get more info out of Michonne...I just didn't buy any of it...no genuine interest at all...just parroting lines.

I wouldn't put Michonne much higher.

So a couple things that I'm sure have pointed out to death...

The comic-bookish casting/looks of the three new characters: chick with the daisy-dukes and tied up, cut-off buttondown shirt for advanced zombie warfare, cap'n crunch straight out of 1990s video game and mulleted "scientist"/rain-man.

Speaking of the latter...

I know the secret of the universe

what is it?

despite there being no government in sight and the probability of my imminent death pretty high- it's classified.

classified? why?

why? the writers are telling me- #### you, that's why. I don't want to chance losing my super-secret def-con 4 level clearance with the "government" or risk getting sued by leaking this game-changing info. I just got my credit rating back into a good place and I don't want to #### things up with the only job I've ever pretended to have.

Good chance that was the 201st shot and the director finally said #### this #### just print it.
Biggest plot hole was the dude Rick killed was taking a dump with his pants on
And with the lid down.

:goodposting: he wasn't "taking a dump".. He was either rummaging through the items he found, taking some of the items he found, or possibly changing.. who really knows, but pretty obvious to those that were actually paying attention "taking a dump" wasn't it.

Not sure if this has been brought up or not, but I was trying to calculate where they were when the "smart guy" killed the truck. Tara said they've been on the road for about 3 hours, so I will say they traveled anywhere from 150 to 165 miles. Knowing they stayed off the major highway, but still going to Washington through South Carolina, I calculate they were either just short of Greenville, SC, or just past Greenville, SC on US highway 123 / 23 N
No way they went that far. First of all, they have to stop to clear cars (they showed that earlier when Tara saw him smile) and second of all, that was a back road with an army truck. They won't average 50-55 mph even when they are moving. If there is a herd or cars across the road, you can't stop quick enough. That said, in 3 hours in a truck, they aren't anywhere close to Maggie/the bus.
They've gotta be 100 to 150 miles away though...
So, it's probably safe to say they averaged at least 40 mph for 3 hours, occasionally stopping to remove debris, putting them somewhere between Toccoa, SC (95 mi from Atlanta) and Westminister, SC (113 miles from Atlanta), or Seneca, SC (122.5 miles from Atlanta), or best case scenario Clemson, SC (130 miles from Atlanta) on US Highway 23 N. I'm assuming that road because we know they stayed off the interstate and 23 N is the best direction to Washington DC if you're not taking the interstate.
hwy 23 doesn't go through Clemson SC. Hwy 123 goes through Clemson and on to Greenville SC. Hwy 23 goes west and up to Asheville NC and would eventually take you to Columbus Ohio. Greenville is approx 145 miles from ATL up I-85. If they didn't use the interstate I would guess they were near Westminister.
starts out as highway 23, then turns into 123 at some point?
Yes, it splits right around Toccoa. 123 goes NE and 23 continues NW.

The toilet scene---the guy was taking his boots off, right?
When Rick and the toilet guy were fighting, you could see his boots were off to the side of the toilet along with the toilet lid closed.

If I were him, I'd take a massive dump in that toilet, since I've been pooping in the woods for the last year or so.

Long Island Man Shoots Girlfriend over The Walking Dead, Post-Apocalyptic Style

It's a scene that wouldn't be out of place on AMC's hit zombie drama. But this shooting was instead caused by the TV show.

It’s a violent scene that wouldn’t be out of place in AMC’s zombie drama The Walking Dead: a man grabs a .22-caliber semiautomatic rifle and casually fires a bullet into his girlfriend’s back. But this shooting wasn’t on The Walking Dead — it was because of it. Long Island man Jared Gurman has been charged with second-degree attempted murder after shooting Jessica Gelderman, 27, during a heated argument over the hit TV series. Gelderman remains in the hospital with her rib shattered and lung and diaphragm pierced. She is in stable condition.

The argument started when the 26-year-old Gurman was out with his longtime girlfriend on Sunday night. Their discussion turned to the TV show, and Gurman expressed his conviction that a “military mishap” would soon occur in the drama, which is about human survival in the face of a zombie invasion, according to a Long Island detective. “He felt very adamant that there could be some type of military mishap that would result in some sort of virus or something being released that could cause terrible things to happen,” Detective Lt. Raymond Cote said at a Tuesday news conference, reported by Newsday.

(Q&A: Frank Darabont on His New TV Show The Walking Dead)

But Gelderman, who has been in a relationship with Gurman for 3 1/2 years, found his assertion “ridiculous,” Cote said. As the boiling spat continued to escalate, she decided to leave and spend the night at her parents’ house. But the argument didn’t end with her exit, progressing into a text message argument instead. Disturbed by the “bitter and angry” exchange, police said, she headed back to his apartment in Williston Park to check up on him around 2:30 a.m., Newsday reports.

There, she found Gruman sitting on the stairs, armed with a rifle. “She tried to defuse the situation, to calm him down,” Cote explained, according to NBC. “She was walking up the stairs when Mr. Gurman raised the rifle, pointed it at her and fired one round into her back. He drove Gelderman to a nearby hospital after the shooting. He was promptly arrested but when police questioned Gurman about his girlfriend’s gun wounds, he lied at first, saying the shooting was an accident, NBC reports. But he later admitted to firing the bullet: “Jess walked into the room and I fired the gun once and hit her,” Gurman later said in a police statement, according to Newsday. “She said, ‘Oh my God. What did you do?’”

Police described Gurman as “passionate” about weapons and had seized three long guns in his home, NBC reports. He was ordered jailed without bail — he should probably hope it doesn’t mirror the one that serves as a centerpiece in the show.

(this happened in 2012 ...but still thought it was crazy)
I guess viewership will decline by one for the next 15-20 years (less for good behaviour).

Have any of you "regulars" in this thread read the comics? I've heard that there have been considerable differences between the comics and the show, but I'm curious if any of you has an idea of how this turns the next few weeks regarding the 3 newbies or the house crashers last week. Anyone? Bueller? Spoilers please -- TIA.

I have not read the comic books, however there have been several major plot changes from the comics but it generally follows it. The consensus here is that the thugs in the house are part of the Sanctuary crew and will have a conflict with Rick at some point in the future.

Have not read past the Prison yet in the Comics but ...

Read a few articles where they mentioned the "scientist" is not who he appears to be and, once it is revealed who he is, it will become obvious that the shooting of the gas tanks on the truck was not by accident.. Again, no idea what it is, just know that was placed in numerous places.

The 3 newcomers are all a major part of the show now. In the comics they become part of Alexandria before the come across Sanctuary. Alexandria is a walled town similar to Woodbury without a maniacal leader. The guys in the house are most likely from Sanctuary, which probably won't be a nice place.

The way they met the newbies is different than how they met them in the comic (Herschel's farm), but I assume everyone will meet up in the new few episodes. In the comic they go Alexandria Safe Zone before Sanctuary.

One thing going for Abraham is that if he finds himself in a walker attack without a weapon he can always use his trusty Brogue Kick.

I still think Judith is gonna die sometime in the near future. Once Lizzie finds out where and why Carol was gone she's gonna get some revenge. Whenever Carol's group and Rick's group reunite Rick and Carl are gonna see Judith alive and well but before Rick can get her in his arms Lizzie is gonna strike. I'm thinking rabbit style with her knife. Carol has created a monster.

Is it just me or do people care more about seeing Maggie, Tara and Rosita than where the story is going?
Not me but I'm definitely appreciative that there's been a serious increase in the Babe factor.

That said, Rosita bending over was one of the few things about the last episode that I thought was all that memorable.

Feel free to ##### about the writing all you want, folks. That's great work right there.

We will absolutely see them again...that's why the guy saw Rick and then was choked out...the writers wanted this group to hunt Rick and crew down...we won't be rid of them for a while.
It may have simply been done to create more tension for the scene... Is he going to say something before he gets choked out? Will he wake up before Rick can get out?

"Rick hiding under the bed" sounds boring, but it was pretty tense. My wife was definitely on edge.

My two cents is that we're done with those guys.

She needs to "drop" something in every episode.
