LOL...yeah, my wife was pulling out all the Christmas stuff a couple weeks ago and when she grabbed the redskins ornaments I just shot her a glare and told her your not putting that #### on my tree. Bastards aren't going to ruin my Christmas too.

7) Front office spent money in FA and only one pick up (DJax) has produced as a starter. Rest appear to be either a waste of $$$ or overpriced for what they produce.

8) Front Office and Owner are meddling and inept at providing him with true support to coach this team.

Look there are plenty more to add and I'm not saying Gruden is crispy clean, but I think many being a bit to harsh on him considering what he inherited and what he's had to deal with in his FIRST year as a Head Coach. I think a little perspective is needed, opposed to an emotional blasting response. He is going to have to fix the blasting players publicly, unless he starts to blast himself and his coaches equally. If not, keep the specifics in house will have to be big lesson to take into next year.

What you're describing is a helpless bystander, victimized by all around him, not describing a head coach.

Gruden chose to keep Haslett knowing his record. That's on Gruden.

Head coaches absolutely have influence, all the influence in the world, on their assistant coaches. The defensive and special teams coordinators are coaching units that are way below average and getting worse. The head coach says nothing about it and does nothing about it. We've heard not one word from beat reporters about any pressure on either of them to pick up their unit's performance. Gruden treats them like equals, like it's not his job to do anything about it. That's on him. He's supposed to be a head coach.

The O-line was quite good 2 years ago, despite mediocre talent. Last year they regressed. This year, with basically the same people, they've gotten noticeably worse again. The running game was excellent 2 years ago and pretty good last year. Gruden came in, installed his offense which involved making them do what they were worst at --- pass protecting and power run blocking --- and their performance has gone downhill noticeably. Morris is an all-pro back and he's treated like an annoyance who gets in the way of the passing game.

All 3 quarterbacks have regressed as Gruden plays them. He's a destroyer of QB confidence.

Really, if a coach came in here and was secretly being paid $50 million/year by North Korea to sabotage the Redskins, he'd do exactly what Gruden has done to the offense.

The roster is bad, but how good was it in 2012? Who were our receivers then? A good coach can get a lot better performance out of a bad roster than Gruden has.

I am struggling, absolutely struggling to find a way to fill in this blank: "But after saying all that, Gruden has improved _________________________." And I've got nothing to put there besides "how refreshing the press thinks his press conferences are."

Keep him around, build up a roster around him, and the best he'll ever do is 7-9. He wants to be a micromanaging OC and QB coach, nothing else, and isn't good at either of those 2 roles.

I was at TJ Max last week. They had Redskin Jerseys for Robert Griffin and Alfred Morris. I had to check the prices. Morris was full price. Griffin was $10 off.

Check out this article from before Gruden was hired. Seems to address all the concerns we have now. Why didn't we all see this coming?

If Allen and owner Dan Snyder want a quarterback-friendly coach to build a team around Griffin, then hire Pederson or Gase. Follow that up by appointing Wade Phillips as defensive coordinator.

Opting for Gruden is too easy and smacks of lazy thinking. Just because his older brother proved to be a success, it doesn't automatically follow he will be the same.

But more important than the family ties, Jay Gruden's work in Cincinnati doesn't stand up to close inspection. He is the wrong man to revive the Redskins.

I went back and read a couple more of that guy's articles. I swear, people covering the Redskins must read this thread because a week or 2 after we start saying things, we start seeing Skins writers saying them. For example, this article from Monday:

Gruden has rarely afforded him that chance. In fact, he often seems awfully eager to go away from Morris altogether. How long will it be before Gruden gets behind a microphone and publicly verbally eviscerates Morris the way he did Griffin?

It shouldn't be possible for a team possessing Morris, Roy Helu Jr. and fullback Darrel Young to rank 22nd in rushing. Then again, it shouldn't be possible for a coach hired for his offensive expertise to call plays for a unit that's 27th in scoring.

But it's not just one side of the ball being undermined by Gruden's decisions. He agreed to leaving Jim Haslett in charge of the defense, the same group that ranks 25th in points.

So is McCoy really starting tomorrow? I just don't want to believe it. Maybe Gruden is ####### with the Giants? 15% of me believes that. I am really not looking forward to finding something to do during the Skins game. FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK!!!!!!!!!!!

 
I was a Redskins fan my entire life, well at least as long as I've been watching the NFL (36 years). That is until about 3 days ago. I made the decision to stop being a fan of the orginization.

The reasons are obvious and I frankly don't have the time to list all my justifications, Suffice to say it's a liberating feeling.

 
I tried to quit them and can't. I have emotionally detached myself for now but I'm still a Redskin fan. I watch the first 5-6 games and then ignore them until the next season

I was really hoping Griffin would start. I need Morris to have a big game and Gruden appears to be more willing to run the ball with Griffin at QB.

You don't need any justification to stop being a fan of the Redskins. In fact, the rest of us may need to justify why we are still fans. It could be pretty hard to explain.

 
I love watching the Packers every weekend (and always do) and wish I could say they are my favorite team but I just can't seem to stop cheering for the Redskins. I honestly wish I could. But the love I have for Riggins, Monk, Charlie Brown, Darrel Green, Mann, Manley, Clark, Gibbs....it's just too long and deep I guess. And yes, that's what she said. ;)

 
If they changed the name I could probably quit them. For now, whenever I see the colors and the logo I can't help but get a feeling of nostalgia. It would be easier for me to quit the nfl all together rather than just the redskins, and I'm not too far from doing that.

I've followed the Redskins since the days of Billy Kilmer, and as much as they break my heart, I will never switch teams.

I honestly don't get how any one can "change favorite teams." If your loyalty to a team is that transient, you will NEVER appreciate the victories as well as you would otherwise. Folks who are leaving the Redskins now, if the Redskins do ever win another championship -- lets say 10 years from now -- even if they come back as bandwagoners they will not enjoy it as much as you and I if we stick with the team all these years...

I want to give Gruden a chance. I'm not really the type of person who wants a coach gone after one year, and I still don't. But his refusal to even evaluate Griffin further quite honestly is baffling. I'm starting to borderline wonder if something personal happened between the two of them..

I do understand those that might change. Ive made the conscious decision not to buy any more redskins paraphernalia or go to games. I could never stop rooting for them. But the main problem is a really hate snyder and everything he stands for. But at the end of the day........ ive been through this disaster so long, no sense in turning away now. Its more of a puzzle at this point trying to figure out what can solve these problems. until then :popcorn:

OH, I'm with you. I don't put ANY money into the team at all. No merchandise, no tickets. I just watch what I can on TV. While I root for the team, I don't want to give Snyder my money. Maybe that's a bit of a contradiction, but I guess it is what it is.

seems over at extremeskins people are starting to do this as well. I think if enough people do this then maybe snyder gets the message.

 
This will be my first time in forever not watching a full game. I will be watching most of the Colts game, some of the Browns and flipping some to the Skins

 
Is ANYONE starting Garcon today with DeSean active?? I have a few leagues with Julio out, need to find someone...so sad that he's not hardly worth starting after last year being such a great and weekly reliable player.

 
I'm a Griffin supporter, but I'm getting really annoyed that he apparently feels so much pain every time he's hit.

I think Griffin can still be successful in the NFL just not here. Although to be fair I don't think any QB has a chance to be successful with Gruden as a HC.

That doesn't bother me, it's just "style". Santana Moss getting 2 personal fouls, putting his team in a hole to begin the (disastrous) second half, and getting thrown out of the game --- now that bothers me, and it's "substance". It had to do with winning or losing the game.

 
Asked about who's starting at QB next week, first thing Gruden mentioned was McCoy's neck. Man does he ever hate playing Griffin.

I felt sorry for McCoy in the presser. He was in obvious pain, winced noticeably. Thankfully he said his doctor told him several weeks off would be the best thing for his neck. There's no sense in him getting hurt any more this year for this team.

7 sacks today. 7 last week. 36 in the last 6 games. The offensive line at the end of the game was Polumbus at RT, Long at RG, Chester at C, Lauvao at LG, and Compton at RT. Maybe they should just start Cousins. He gets the ball out quickly (though we don't know where it'll go). Or start Darrell Young. Gruden and the O-line are killing QB's.

 
No one commented on the game today. It had a much different feel to it, but they still ended up with a loss.

Griffin looked good in the first half, right up to his rushing TD that was ruled a fumble and touchback. I don't think the Redskins offense did anything in the 2nd half.

What is with all the personal foul penalties? Moss, who I like but still makes no sense that he is on the team, got two personal fouls, thrown out of the game, and allowed the Giants to do an onside kick from the Redskin 35 yard line. Not good.

On the on-side kick, if the ball is in the air, the guy catching it has to call for a fair catch. It was a jump ball and he got hit as a Giant was trying to catch the ball.

Breeland with 4 penalties and 70 yards. Ouch.

The team just looked out of control much of the time.

Finally, the Redskins gave up 7 sacks. 6th game in a row giving up 5 or more sacks. I guess the Redskins are consistent about one thing.

 
47 yards lost on 7 sacks.

135 yards lost on 10 penalties. That's the length of 2 pretty decent drives.

I noticed that, and what looked like helplessness. Like they didn't know what they could do. Not that they didn't care, but that they couldn't get enough done to win, there was no help arriving.

 
One more thought: With publicly showing how much he dislikes Griffin, Gruden has managed himself into a no-win situation with Griffin plays. If he plays well, it shows how wrong he was. If he plays poorly, he looks like a bad coach. Lose-lose for Gruden.

He got a mixed bag today from Griffin. But Gruden still looks bad.

 
One of the postgame shows had the ticker running at the bottom and it showed Tress Way with 1 run for 69 yards. I had in intermittent connection to the game via computer (it was blacked out here on TV) but I didn't see Way fake a punt and run 69 yards.

Head coaching loss. Jay Gruden had a bad day. It began with the decision to activate just 2 QBs when his starter was far from a lock to make it through the game physically. Even before McCoy reinjured his neck, his throws were inaccurate and lacked any zip whatsoever including the first play of the game where the ball was lobbed out to Jackson. Gruden's team lacked discipline from the start where Breeland got the first of his 5 penalties on the first snap of the game. The Skins committed a total of 10 penalties for 135 yards including 30 of those on the end-of-half debacle where Gruden's team came unglued on what turned out to be a correct call. His play-calling on the final two drives of the game where he asked RG3 to throw from the pocket exclusively was recipe for failure. He knows it, the team knows it, and Griffin knows it too. Not one screen was called with the Giants pinning their ears back and coming hard. And then, the final drive. Wow! Can't remember the last time I saw a team down 11 pts with 1:30+ in the game quit. Gruden threw in the towel. I thought it was disgraceful. He said he thought Griffin may have been banged up so he decided to run the clock out. As it turned out, Griffin was fine.
