Peterson charged with reckless or negligent injury to a child? (3 Viewers)

Remember, Ray Rice went to "trial" and agreed to a plea, basically. A pre-trial intervention program. That was his punishment, his agreement, etc. Therefore he had already gone through due process when the NFL suspended him. AP has not had that opportunity yet - only been indicted.
Correct, it is too early to act on this. Let's be honest, if the Ray Rice situation didn't exist, everyone would be saying they need to wait out the legal process. But now he should be immediately suspended indefinitely?
No idea why anyone believes this. The court of public opinion moves too quickly for that to be true.

Someone brought up Big Ben, which is a great example of the NFL moving further and faster than the courts. He was suspended 4 games (originally announced as 6) despite never being charged with a crime.
Not exactly...the legal process had played out. The prosecutors decided not to charge Roethlisberger, and he was suspended shortly after that. It is an example of a suspension without criminal charges, however.

And here are the allegations. To be honest, if this is true, I think the dude needs some serious psychological counseling.
This just in...he needed it even without this and likely many other instances of child abuse.

The Vikings have gone completely insane.
No, you're right. It would actually be quite rare for this to be an isolated incident. Damn, MIN is in for a #### storm.

7 kids? That is Shawn Kemp/Travis henry territory.
I didn't draft AP this year, but I did have him ranked preseason as the #1 RB. I also drafted Henry the year he busted in Denver.

Found out soon after that he had 9 kids by 9 baby mommas. I need to start checking that stat each preseason before I pick players.

Hmmm, awkward... that's not what I was saying at all. I was referencing to the common trivial practice on message boards of resorting to pointing out spelling errors or semantic fallacies in the absence of a legitimate argument. Anyways, feel free to get the last word in if you'd like, though I'd prefer reasonable debate.
Reasonable is fine. So we are back to justice then?I'd love to hear your reasons for cold-cocking a woman in that case. Let's debate that reasonably, sans equivocation.
I will ask the same question I posed to Kitrick. How many times, and how hard, CAN a woman strike a man before he can reasonably retaliate physically?

I first started out in the corner of he probably crossed the line but it is a very blurry line to begin with. Over the past day I've migrated to the camp of, he's just flat out wrong and probably a warped individual.

1. This is a 4yr old, not 8,10,12....a kid that is a little bit older than a toddler. Never-mind the fact that is Adrian Peterson, whom would frighten adults in the same scenario.

2. I'm not buying the not intentional nonsense. One mark fine, multiple marks that's bull####. The text messages and references to multiple whoopings, whooping rooms and belts, etc this comes across as something that Adrian relishes.

3. What is the child being disciplined for. Stealing? Shooting another kid with a BB gun? No, for squabbling over a effing x box game.

I'm looking for an out, but its all effing wrong.

Its never ok for a woman to strike a man, just as its never ok for a man to strike a woman.

Oh boy. Five, OK? Five times. Someone gave you a number, OK? Can you make whatever point it is you want to make if someone gives you a number?

Do it quickly, tho, before Rice or Peterson or Hardy throw another much smaller person than them down a flight of stairs.

ouch....

CBS 11 Houston reports Adrian Peterson is being investigated for another child abuse accusation involving one of his other sons.
According to the news station, one of Peterson's four-year-old son's was disciplined by Peterson for cursing at one of his siblings. The boy sustained a scar over his right eye. Peterson has at least five children with multiple different women, and is believed to have as many as seven kids out of wedlock. If more information comes to light, the Vikings could discipline Peterson yet again.

I suppose that's going to vary from man to man. If that woman isn't armed with a blunt instrument, I'd give her a few attempts to blow her steam off before I wrapped her up to stop the blows. That's if I was trapped in an elevator*. If I was in the open, I'd just walk away (run if necessary) or call attention to her erratic behavior to shame her.* I wouldn't have entered that elevator in the first place, given the circumstances

How many licks to get to the center of your tootsie roll, tootsie pop?

someone gets AP's mama because that boy needs a serious "whoopin" of his own... one that sends him to the hospital.

I hope he does make it back to the field just so someone cripples him

Many in the South use to think slavery was ok too...... sad to see there are parts of society that think things like this is ok.

I believe this is the picture everyone is referring to.
Ok, I'm about to ####### lose it. Seriously, not less than a few hours after Peterson is reinstated we find out that he abused another 4 year old child and left a SCAR ON HIS FACE?????Did the Vikings investigate anything before reinstating Peterson? Or was it enough just to see them get their asses kicked on Sunday?

The NFL is a hopelessly flawed organization right now. Shut it the #### down!

With stuff like these new reports coming out, I wouldn't be surprised if we see a lot more stuff dredged up about NFL players across the board. The media incentive to sniff out every allegation and turn it into a story is too great until the NFL gets its act together

I tried to access the vikings message boards and was promptly met by...

Shut downVikings Message Board has been shut down permanently. It will not return. There are two primary reasons.
1. The Vikings cowardly decision to reinstate a child abuser and think that an apology will make this blow over. We will not stand for this arrogance and we will no longer be the home of any support of the Vikings. We stand for those who cannot defend themselves.
2. We will not give a voice to thugs who think child abuse is "cultural" or worse, openly advocate child abuse as a reasonable method of punishment. This ends here. Yes, a few board members have ruined it for everyone. Congratulations, #######s.

HOUSTON -- Photos and text messages obtained by the I-Team reveal another incident in which Adrian Peterson is accused of injuring another son while disciplining the boy.

The four-year-old is by a different mother than the alleged victim in the Montgomery County case, in which Peterson is charged with felony injury to a child. In that case, Peterson admits to repeatedly striking the boy with a tree branch or "switch," but has maintained he did not intend to harm the child, and was using his judgment as a parent to discipline his son.

The latest incident allegedly occurred last June, while the boy, who lives out of state, was visiting Peterson at his gated home in The Woodlands. A photo, allegedly texted by Peterson to the boy's mother, shows a head wound to the boy covered by two bandages. Other photos, allegedly taken weeks later, reveal a scar over his right eye.

The text messages also describe an exchange about what happened. They contain numerous misspellings and shorthand:

Mother: "What happened to his head?"

Peterson: "Hit his head on the Carseat."

Mother: "How does that happen, he got a whoopin in the car."

Peterson: "Yep."

Mother: "Why?"

Peterson: "I felt so bad. But he did it his self."

The text messages go on to show Peterson saying he was disciplining his son for cussing to a sibling.

"It's absolutely criminal," said Randy Burton, a former chief prosecutor of family crimes in Harris County, and founder of the advocacy group Justice for Children.

"You break the skin, you have bleeding, much less permanent scars, that is a crime," Burton said.

But no charges were ever filed. Sources confirm the mother filed a report with Child Protective Services, but the outcome of any CPS investigation is unclear.

So is the method of the delivering the wound, according to the text messages.

Mother: "What did you hit him with?"

Peter never directly answered, but later replied: "Be still n take ya whooping he would have saved the scare (scar). He aight (all right)"

"This is very damaging information," Burton said.

Damaging, Burton said, because prosecutors in Montgomery County can use it as evidence in the felony case against Peterson.

"To prove intent, that it was not an accident, and to show that it was a course of conduct," Burton said.

"It wasn't a one-off," he said.

A spokesperson for Peterson's attorney said the law office of Rusty Hardin and Associates had no comment.

Wow. Someone actually listened to my last post.

So Adrian's track record seems to be

--if he's your father and you meet him, you get abused

--if he's your father and you don't meet him, you get murdered

Remember when Petersons kid died last year, and he did not meet the kid until the day he died according to reports. This is a bad person.

Just because he's not great with kids doesn't make him a bad person.
Your right, 2 kids abused, one dead.. Father of the Year.

The guy is a POS!!
How's that glass house, Penn Stater?
Yeah cause I was for Sandusky? He is a big POIS. I have said that many times. Doesn't make the school bad.

Probably going to take it out on their kids, well done.

I will ask the same question I posed to Kitrick. How many times, and how hard, CAN a woman strike a man before he can reasonably retaliate physically?
I suppose that's going to vary from man to man. If that woman isn't armed with a blunt instrument, I'd give her a few attempts to blow her steam off before I wrapped her up to stop the blows. That's if I was trapped in an elevator*. If I was in the open, I'd just walk away (run if necessary) or call attention to her erratic behavior to shame her.
I suppose there is no "right" answer is there? In your hypothetical you feel compelled to allow the woman "a few" whacks while maintaining that it's never ok to strike a woman. However, as "justified" as it may be to allow the woman "several attempts" due to difference in average physical prowess... your opinion is still based on old-fashioned ideas of chivalry and gender roles, not dissimilar to old-fashioned ideas about physically disciplining children.

Still they are your opinions and not universal truths. But you still fail to answer the actual question posed - Quid pro quo? If I may subsitute the word "fair" for justice for a second... How many punches by a woman does it take before it's "fair" for a man to punch back? A quantitative number is obviously insufficient as an answer, and thus in the absence of an absolute paradigm we only have our legal system to lean on. As such, according to our legal system, a man CAN successful maintain a case of self-defense case against a woman given the right circumstances.

I can perhaps invent an answer to your question of when it's "ok" to hit a woman, but I imagine there are plenty of real life cases you can find on the internet where it's been "justified" by our legal system.
