Priority #1 of the dynasty offseason (1 Viewer)

I was on the "What were they possibly thinking!?" bandwagon as much as anyone following the draft and preseason but it's time to admit I was wrong. It's been quite awhile since I've seen such an explosive rookie doing more that isn't showing up in the boxscore (thank God - I'd be perfectly happy if his value stayed right where it's at). I know he's had a KO return this year called back to penalty and at LEAST one TD negated to penalty. Seems like every week I'm scanning the boxscore he has a 35-40+ yd. reception NOT resulting in a TD. All if this is happening at the bottom of his bell curve and without a QB mind you.

What's on your dynasty to-do list when offseason trading opens?

#1 - get Matt Schaub (already given the injury prone label & I saw enough to believe he'll be a Top 10 NFL QB in the future).

A lot of people, myself included, have some crow to eat. Not only do they look good because IMO Schaub is > VY or Leinart, but Mario over Bush is looking like the correct move.

Load-up on some rock bottom ballers like Mark Clayton, Matt Schaub, Laurence Maroney and Jamarcus Russell.

You may even get the opportunity to land guys like Calvin Johnson, Ronnnie Brown, Larry Johnson, Jason Campbell and Vince Young for lower values than just a few months back.

I grabbed Schaub off the free agent list 2 weeks ago. I have him paired with Cutler and I am set at QB for the forseeable future in my dynasty league. My WR's are Randy Moss, Andre Johnson, Joey Galloway and Jerrico Cothery. RB is my weakness though. I do have a ton of depth, but no big 1 or 2 to start. I have Shaun Alexander, Rudi johnson, Justin fargas, maurice Morris, Fred taylor and Andre hall.I had high hopes for this season, but Rudi and Shaun really killed me.

We really don't care.

sure you do, both posts add so muchI am curious as to why Schaub is on waivers in a dynasty league

I've already put out some feelers to the FWP owner to see what his current value is. He's a guy I'm going to make a push for this offseason. He's currently averaging 686 yards gained per TD scored, which is one of the more colossal flukes that we're going to see this year. NOBODY averages 700 yards per TD over a long timeline without being vultured. Parker's value is artificially low right now.

Never been that impressed with his talent really. I know he had a good game today and has had some good seasons in the past, but I view him more as a guy who could be threatened by a high draft pick than a guy that I'd be targeting in my dynasties.

I'm curious about Marshawn Lynch's value. I'd love to try to acquire him this offseason, not because I think he'd be cheap or his value is low, but because I think this might be the cheapest you'll ever be able to get him. To me, he's got the makings of a back that should be good for a long time...especially once Buffalo finds a long term answer at QB and gets some stability on offense.

I can't reveal those plans with all of my leaguemates prowling these boards. :lmao:However, I'm fairly excited about these guys who are already on my roster:Trent Edwards - Buffalo is a QB wasteland and I think the system there will precent Edwards from achieving significant FF value for at least another 1-2 years, but I've been impressed with his on-field performance this year and I love his demeanor off the field. Kid is smart with lots of confidence and lots of ability. He has a chance to be very good. Aaron Rodgers - You have to think he's going to be starting somewhere withing the next year or two. I had him rated as the top QB in his class coming out of college and have been encouraged by his performance this year. Mark Clayton - He's had a pitiful season, but I'm still a believer. People forget that he had 900+ yards last season and is a former first round pick. He has talent. Sooner or later it's going to show in the box score. I see Clayton eventually becoming a Laveranues Coles or Derrick Mason type. Reggie Williams - Reggie is starting to make some plays and get the inside track on the WR1 spot in Jacksonville. I don't see him ever breaking the top 15, but I could see him cracking 1,000 yards next year if he continues to work hard. It seems like the team is starting to make a bigger effort to get him involved and it's paying off. People forget that Reggie Williams is still only 24 years old. He's just now entering his prime.I think all four of these guys represent solid investments at their current cost.

:whoosh:

To address two of the players already mentioned in this thread...

1) Ted Ginn Jr. - Not many owners drafted him in dynasty expecting any startable production from him year 1. Outside of the few dreamers who fit that miopic rookie production category I doubt anybody else is selling him cheap. He's shown enough playmaking ability to be intriging moving forward and the Dolphins offense can't get any worse. I agree that Ginn is a great buy low if you can get an impatient owner...I just don't see any smart owners who would be sellers.

2) Matt Schaub - I'm in the camp that feels he was a sell high a few weeks agao when Andre Johnson returned to action or sometime this offseason. The Texans have been playing from behind a lot this season and their running game hasn't been spectacular. Schaub's stats have been high enough during those games with Andre Johnson that some owner will bite with visions of Schaub to Johnson dancing in their head. Too bad Matt Schaub is an injury waiting to happen. Sure he'll have a few big games throwing the ball to Andre in 2008 but I'm not going to pin my long-term hopes on his health.

Edit because my spelling suxor.

I think he's good enough that Pitt wouldn't feel any need to bring in a high draft pick. I consider him a better version of Willis McGahee, minus the hype, and have him in my top-10 for Dynasty backs. While he's never going to be anything too special, not everyone has the luxury of special players at every starter spot. He's a guy I'd be very happy to have manning the position for the next 3 years, assuming I had a good developmental prospect or two on the bench behind him.

David Garrard-There's another thread about him and they are absolutely right. I picked him up in middle of the season and was able to get a first round bye. The guy is very consistant.

Getting Rivers in a start 2qb league. He isn't as bad as his value currently is.
yes he is.
He's 26. Had a monster first year as a starting QB. Still has a 60% comp %, 6.9 ypa, 79 passer rating and is on pace for 20+ TDs and 3300 yards. Most importantly, there are people like you that think he is awful.
Rivers' 2007 season has been far from spectacular.- There have only been 4 games in which Rivers has thrown more TDs than INTs. Unless you are getting 6 pts per passing TD or -1 or less for INTs that is a problem IMO.- Over 50% of his fantasy points come in 4 games = he lacks consistency.- In a WCOFF scoring format he scored 11 or less points in 6 games. I only reference WCOFF to use a standard scoring systemMaybe SD should consider getting him a better supporting cast at RB or TE to improve performance?

:lmao: Sweet. Thanks for keeping me updated. Make sure to post random updates to your team in other threads that are unrelated. We appreciate it.

So...maybe I'm confused but I think it's more likely that you are. Aren't you profiling the PERFECT potential dynasty buy-low candidate? Inconsistent but at least CAPABLE of big performances? By sheer default, you're going to be able to look at stats and make a case against any player you find here - otherwise I would have started the buy-high thread. What an opening line - "Rivers' 2007 season has been far from spectacular" in your reasoning for not buying-low. Let's file that one with look both ways before crossing the street and lock your doors at night.

i drafted schaub late 3 years ago in a dynasty. held on ever since. gonna ride brees and schaub in a 2qb set for the next couple of years. despite this year.
