Too lazy to search, but the Samsung SSD was a cinch to backup and install. Damn, this thing is fast.

Thanks!
 Take a look at the programs that launch in your startup file. Get rid of some of those that are unnecessary and it boots that much faster. It can really boost the performance an older PC.
Zero experience with this stuff. Is it easy to install and switch to a these? How do you go about copying your current hard drives? My lap top has two 750gb drives in it currently

Easy to install and clone your current drives. Instructions for everything come with the SSD. Two 750GB drives in your laptop? That is a lot of storage for a laptop.

I have an inground pool and use the Intellichlor salt water chlorine generator. Low maintenance through the summer and water is clear and soft. You do have to shock and add salt in the spring when you open the pool.. and sometimes a few other things in the spring to get the proper levels. But usually nothing more until winter. Good product.

I bought this several years ago and was thinking about upgrading it. Should I bother? When you say "clone" does that move over the OS as well?

Yes, it essentially clones/copies your existing hard drive, including the OS. I would go through and get rid of stuff you don't want/need anymore before throwing it onto a new drive. You don't want a lot of unnecessary clutter on your new drive.

That is a gaming laptop.. 16GB RAM and huge storage. I would think upgrading to SSD would make that thing fly again.

Ok great. Since it has two hard drives do I need two SSD drives? Could you either send me a message or post here what I would need to do all of this. Thanks!! I owe you a beer.

Not necessarily. Is the OS on one of the current internal drives and the other one storage (like a C and D drive)? If that is the case, I would lean towards just replacing the drive with the OS installed with the SSD and use the other drive as a storage drive (eg D drive).

Now, if you have games installed on the other drive then it might be better to swap that to SSD as well. Just depends on what you want to do. I don't game so I don't know those kinds of setups. But if you game online, the SSD will boost performance for that as well.

One drive is a storage drive. I record and edit all the Eagles games and make little films of the players. I do not game that much any more.

In that case I'd just install one and either clone the OS drive or do a clean install of your OS onto the SSD. Full instructions will ship with the drive, but several posts up we pasted a pdf with instructions. To clone you could leave your OS drive in your laptop and remove the storage drive and put the SSD into that bay until the move is complete. Then remove the old OS drive and replace with the current storage drive (in that bay). Or put your SSD into that bay and put your storage drive where it was before.

Or, you can get a cable like the one Tiger Fan posted above and use that to clone.

Great thanks! I was worried about the OS since I have no idea where the disc is and I have no interest in Windows 8.

Are you PC or Mac? Been looking at this Samsung and this other drive.
PC - went with this one per another suggestion in this thread. Also bought this to connect them - http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00HJZJI84?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00

The Samsung drive came with the software and it was super simple.
That was probably me pushing the samsungs. I've been chatting with Memphis Foundry a good bit on the facebooks about it and, yeah, Samsung EVO series was head and shoulders above other SSD's with regards to durability in a 3rd part torture test. It got to the point after all the other drives failed they gave up trying to kill the EVO... it never succumbed to the barrage of read/write cycles.

I went with crucial in my MacbookPro before I knew this, and I'm happy, but i'll be upgrading to a 500GB or 1TB Samsung EVO before the year is out.

Yes, I would turn your old OS drive into an external storage drive. Format it and you have a 750GB external storage drive for your videos, etc.

Back to dishwashers. Im in the market and was leaning Bosch because of the reviews but the basket tines especially on the bottom rack suck. Anyone have KitchenAid? This model was the number one rated model by consumer reports last year. They do note that the KitchenAid brand has a lot of repair history though.

http://dishwashers.reviewed.com/content/kitchenaid-architect-series-ii-kdtm354dss-dishwasher-review

$989 at Sears but i have a $50 coupon.
I see you already went KitchenAid, but yeah.... the bottom rack sucks on the Bosch. Our landlord got one on mega-sale at Best Buy and we're glad to have it (it's quiet as hell) but the bottom rack leaves a lot to be desired in terms of handling bowls. If you're using nothing but plates and cups this thing would rock. But fitting cereal and "kids snack" bowls can get squirrely.
I don't get this at all. I can line up 8 bowls without issue on the bottom and kids snack bowl fit better on the top rack where they probably belong.
I'm happy for you. You realize different models may have different types of racks?

I just picked up the Shark Rocket vac based on reviews here. Wanted a hand held option to do upholstery for...wait for it..

6 year old just came home with lice. Uggh. First for us to deal with. Luckily her 10 year old sister and the wife and I are clear so far. Did the Nix treatment yesterday. Lots of laundry and now vacuuming on tap. Lots if tea tree oil going on too. Any lice elimination tips you believe in?
My son brought home lice a few years ago. He was working at a haunted house around Halloween. Probably got them from sharing a mask/wig. And he gave them to his younger brother.

We tried the Nix stuff and it didn't work. I found this treatment somewhere on the net. It worked perfectly on both kids. A couple of coworkers also used my method on their kids successfully.

HOMEMADE, CHEAPO SOLUTION TO GETTING RID OF LICE.

First stop is the dollar store.

  • 1 or 2 bottles of blue or green mouthwash. Make sure it contains 20% alcohol.
  • 1 or 2 bottles of white vinegar.
  • At least 2 shower caps. Probably disposable.
  • If you can find them, but a pair of cheap swim goggles (optional).
  • A bottle of hair conditioner (optional)
  • I'd pick up some dish towels too
Then go to the drug store and buy a lice comb (you might already have one since you tried Nix). It's been a while so I don't remember the brand I bought but I remember that the all plastic kind suck. Shoot the lock off your wallet and by the kind with the metal teef.

Also make sure you have something to occupy the kid. A favorite movie, video game, whatever. You'll see why later. And buy her her favorite treat...ice cream, cookies, candy, beer, whatever. When all this is said and done she's going to deserve a reward.

This whole process could take up to 2 hours depending upon how much hair we're talking about. Seems like a lot of work but the results are worth it.

STEP 1: You're going to SOAK the hair with the mouthwash. This is the part that will kill the actual adult lice (and nits, I think). The alcohol content of the mouthwash is what snuffs the little SOBs.

You're probably going to want to do with the kid leaning over the bathtub.

Find a bath/beach towel that you're not going to mind tossing out and have the kid put it around their shoulders.

If you bought the swim goggles your kid should hold them over their eyes (using the strap will probably make it hard to completely soak the hair).

If you don't have the goggles have the kid hold a washcloth over their eyes to avoid stinging.

Once the kid has their head hanging over the tub pour the mouthwash on to their hair. You're really going to want to soak it. Every strand of hair needs to be saturated with the mouthwash. Don't be shy about it. Be sure to muss up the hair while you do this so the mouthwash can get everywhere.

Once you're sure the hair is totally soaked let most of the excess drip into the tub BUT DO NOT RINSE.

Then gather up ALL of the hair and gather it in the shower cap. Make sure the kid keeps the towel around their shoulders since there will be dripping. And give them a dry wash/dish cloth so they can keep it from dripping down their face.

STEP 2: Now you have to let the hair soak for at least 30 minutes. If the hair is long I'd go for about 45. This is the part where you're going to want the kid to sit (probably on the floor on another towel) and watch a movie or something.

STEP 3: After 30-45 minutes go back to the tub. Take off the shower cap and throw it away. Now rinse all of the mouthwash out of the hair with warm water. Make sure you get all of it. You might actually see dead lice (they look like really small spider thingies) washing away into the tub.

STEP 3.5 (optional). If your kid's hair is really long or tangles easily you can apply a bunch of condition after the mouthwash is rinsed away. I didn't do this with my kids because it seemed like just one more mess. Do not rinse out the conditioner.

STEP 4: Now you have to use the comb to remove the dead lice and nits that didn't wash away. Follow the instructions that came with the comb. This part is a huge PITA for both the kid and the delouser. I did it with my kids sitting on a bar stool leaning over the kitchen sink. This way I could use the faucet to clean out the comb every minute or so...it gets pretty nasty.

STEP 5: Once you're sure you have combed out all of the bugs you now have to get rid of the eggs. Apparently the eggs stick to the follicles thanks to some sort of gorilla glue the lice make on their own. This is where the vinegar comes into play. The vinegar dissolves the egg glue so that you can comb them out.

Go back to the tub and do exactly what you did before with the mouthwash but this time use the vinegar. Be sure to let it soak all the way down to the scalp since that where the eggs are going to be.

Repeat the process where you let the hair drip-dry for a minute or two and then get it all under a new shower cap.

Movie/video game yadda yadda for 30 minutes so the vinegar can do its magic.

STEP 6: Back to the tub to rinse all the vinegar out. Apply conditioner here if you want.

STEP 7: Another PITA round of combing to get the eggs.

STEP 8: Let your kid take a shower or bath and wash their hair with the best shampoo you have. Let her use mom's $$$ conditioner too. Her hair is going to be stripped to hell.

If you follow all of these steps your kid should be lice-free.

Oh, and be sure to put any towels and shower caps you used in a garbage bag and take them out to your outside can/dumpster.

Be sure to hang on to the little combs though just in case. I'd soak them in a cup of mouthwash if you have any left over.

Good luck.
Can you just shave their heads?

The Samsung drive came with the software and it was super simple.
did you need a special cable to connect the drive to the motherboard or does it come with that? or did it use the same cable as the old HDD?

Too lazy to search, but the Samsung SSD was a cinch to backup and install. Damn, this thing is fast.

Thanks!
 Take a look at the programs that launch in your startup file. Get rid of some of those that are unnecessary and it boots that much faster. It can really boost the performance an older PC.
I see this posted, but how do I know what is unnecessary?

Google what it is, determine if it needs to happen at boot. On windows, it is called something like selective startup. Not sure how it works on Mac.

CCCleaner is some free software that helps speed too.

Let me try to get help this thread get it's groove back.

I'm loving this for casting streaming (Netflix or Dish Network DVR/Live TV) or downloaded video to my hotel room TV while traveling.

Tommy John people - Cool Cotton or Second Skin?
Answer me damnit.
Try a pair of each. Can't go wrong with either but it comes down to personal preference.
Which do you prefer I get?
When wearing pants I go with boxer briefs

When wearing shorts I go with trunks

I only have one pair of the cotton. While very nice, I prefer the silkier feel of the second skin. :bag:

Didn't apply to your link cuz it was already discounted as a bundle. I called customer service to talk it through.
