Products you believe in - Let's hear 'em (2 Viewers)

I don't know if they are really considered "products"--but I absolutely believe that if you are in your 30's-40's--and are in a position to make some long term investments--purchase some sterling silver and gold for an investment.   I'm not saying "bet the house" on them or anything--but reasonable incremental investments are something that I believe in.  I purchase one ounce of silver per week--and one ounce of gold every 4-6 months and keep them in a safety deposit box.   As governments keep printing money--people will lose faith in the value of currency which will be bullish for the price of precious metals.  Also--I do believe that even with this currency issue--that the US dollar will remain the currency of choice around the world--and precious metals are priced in US Dollars.  This should make precious metals very attractive for foreign investors that want exposure to US Dollars indirecetly.  Lastly--sterling silver is a great conductive material that is present in a lot of mobile devices. As the large populations of India, china become more and more westernized--and demand mobile devices--I can see a push for silver in the long term.  I'm not a financial advisor  nor a dealer for these investments--these are just products that I "believe" in specifically for long term security.   

 
If any of you change the oil in your vehicles yourself, then I'd say this 3 jaw oil filter wrench would be awesome to have around. It's $15, fits any size filter, is really convenient for tight spaces and will save your ### if you ever get a filter really, really stuck (obviously not something likely to happen unless you are an idiot like me). 

I just got a filter stuck so bad that I crushed the body of the filter with a standard strap wrench, then bent the wrench itself. Then, I got the bright idea to drill a hole through the filter, shove a screw driver all the way through, and then turn. That step is supposed to be the last resort and work if one is really stuck. Mine was so stuck that all that method did was bend the screwdriver instead of turning the filter. I asked every mechanic I know, they were out of ideas past that (other than a big ### pair of pliers, which I tried and didn't work). I ordered the 3-jaw wrench. It was a ##### getting a grip on my crushed, greasy filter but I was able to get just enough bite to spin it right off with a breaker bar. 

Even in a non-emergency situation, I'd say you'd be glad to have this around. It'll fit any filter, and with the right combination of socket wrenches and extensions, will get to any filter in a tight spot with ease.

Nice but I think that's one of those "I'll buy it when I need it" items.  I'm sure I've seen them in the local auto parts stores...

Wirecutter's top choice, I've had it for a year (tomorrow).  I'm 99% happy with it.  The 1% deduction is because when the temperature in my garage is below 0, I have to warm up the USB power port's metal (just put it under my leg for a minute or so) before it will work.

I don't need no stinking wrench. #stronggrip

:D On the cars I do oil changes on (wife, daughter, and another) I haven't really needed a wrench to remove the filter. Just a good grip. The car I drive I have free oil changes at the dealer so they can deal with that one. Does look like a much better tool than the old style. I have this and it will get about any filter loose...if you can get enough room to turn it, which is where the one you got beats it.

Maybe yours do, but I couldn't find it any around here (websites have them, but they take a week to get in) The guys in the stores looked at me like I had 3 heads when I explained it.

It's something most people would likely never need, but even outside of emergencies, it pretty much eliminates the need for every size of filter wrench or cup you might need (might be why the auto parts stores don't carry it). Fits all filters and fits anywhere. A nice bonus, as I've previously had to buy a different size or type of wrench to fit every vehicle I've ever owned.

I've certainly got an over-tightening problem. Or a lady-grip. Or both.

Yeah, my little Toyota has no room on the sides, so pliers-type and strap wrenches just can't get in. This little guy works well as a less intense version of the 3-jawed one.

Every ear is different and everyone should sound test before buying, but that's the one I was 90% sold on based on reviews, etc... and went to Best Buy to pick it up and was astonished at how bad it sounded .... again, my ears.

Ended up paying the same for a Sony that sounded awesome.

I love all things JBL but was so incredibly unimpressed with that. :(

 
Bike stuff:

I've been really happy with this Alien biking multitool over the past 5 years of mountain biking.  I bought another for my son.  I did pick a couple of chain pins to put in a little slot it has to hold them, and have been able to bail myself out of a few breakdowns, as well as others I bike with.

It looks like Amazon no longer has them in stock, but these biking liners are great - just some mesh with a good pad to go inside your shorts.  I've been using those for 5 years (rotating two pairs) as well and they're good as new.  I'm not a MAMIL (middle aged man in lycra) - I like baggier shorts with these inside.

 
Now that zucchini season is in full swing, I just gotta say this OXO Spiralizer is fan-####ing-tastic!  :thumbup:

I really dont even like zucchini or squash. The taste and texture are both unappealing to me. I also never like spaghetti squash. Thought it was terrible. But spriralize a fresh picked zucchini into some "zoodles" and somehow they're awesome. You hardly even notice that its not noodles. Great tossed in an Italian gravy (yes, I said it), a garlic/lemon/white wine cream sauce, or even in a Thai style coconut-milk/lime/fish-sauce and topped with crushed peanuts. Love em.

Great to use in stir fry too instead of rice or lo mein.

Last few swallows were almost as cold (I'd say 90% also on this one) as when I opened it, and in that heat in a normal coozie, the beer would be room temp about 10 minutes in.

I bought one of the Ozark Tumbler after stumbling on your post. Did not have a chance to use it until this past weekend. I poured in 2 beers and an hour later what was left was still pretty cold. They work great.

I thought they were supposed to hold the actual cans. Are there some where you just put the entire can instead of pop n pour into the tumbler?

You bought coozies to go around the actual cans so I guess I'm asking is there something made of metal you just drop the whole can in?

 
Bought the Ozark trail 30 oz...works great and found it at a wal mart not too far...did the free store pick up.

Also ordered the RTIC koozie thing for my wofe.  She nurses a single soft drink most of the day at work.  Will see how it keeps it cooler for her.

Yes, they have the 20oz and 30oz tumblers intended to be drank from (clear "sippie" lid on the top), then there's these metal coozies for cans/bottles. Hard to tell in that pic, but the top screws on onto the metal base. It's a rubber/plastic gasket (on mine it's black, on this one it seems to be silver but looks like it's the same rubber/plastic material as my black one) basically that fits snugly around the top of the can/bottle and helps to seal in the coldness in the double-walled metal bottom. Works quite well. Have not seen these in stock in the local WM, nor on their website, so I don't know if they are just discontinued or what. I got one from Amazon for $15 a few weeks ago, just because I was curious after hearing people raving about the Yeti metal coozie.

I probably bought 60 or so of the koozies. they were never advertised on the website but could be found in select stores in the camping aisle. they are discontinued from what I heard

lol 60?!? reselling them? I check my WM (camping section) every time I pass through there, but haven't seen any (coozies or tumblers for that matter) on the shelves ever. I set the "in-stock" notification for the tumblers and snagged them and got in-store pickup to acquire the ones I got.

If the tops weren't see thru you could sip on 30 oz of beer at work and nobody would know the difference and it would stay cold until lunch, hit the cooler in the trunk and dump another 30 oz in for the afternoon...keep a couple on the desk, H2O in one of them, must stay hydrated!

Yeah, not claiming that picky kids will eat it and not know its noodles. Just pimping it for being MUCH better than I expected and a great healthy alternative to pasta.

As for cooking, I typically just add them to the sauce and stir when ready to eat. Ive also sprinkled with salt and laid on towels for a few hours to remove some water. Not really necessary, but keeps it from getting soupy when the water is extracted by the salt in your sauce.

Yeah...my daughter (who loves pasta) was not a fan of them.  Though, she is pretty picky and doesn't eat sauce on pasta (olive oil, a pinch of salt and parm only).

:lol:   Yeah, my daughter (5) is the same.  I've actually tried putting a LITTLE bit of tomato sauce on hers, mixing it up real good with plenty of parmesan cheese, making sure there's no huge chunks of tomatoes (although she'll eat cherry tomatoes off the vine), and she's been OK with it.

We were out of sauce the other night, she wanted pasta... so I made a nice little butter/olive oil/parm/garlic powder sauce that she dug big time.

We love the spiralizer.

Try the wet packs. You'll never use dry again. next best thing to leaving the shower. They come in handy carry packs of 10 for those little moments when you can't be home. 

 
Don't get all the love for the exo undies.  I have 4 pair and not at all sold on them.  They are expensive, pill and genuinely don't seem to hold up well.  I bought a four pack of these David archy micro modal underwear and they blow the doors off of exo's.  They are softer, form fitting, lots of dong space, don't ride up, rip off tag, dry quicker and pack way smaller then exo's and to top it all off you get four pair for the price of one exo.  Plus they dry quick and can easily be washed and dried in a hotel room sink.

Exo guys, buy a four pack of these  you won't be sorry, except when you realize you were paying so much for exo's.
