PUNK Music Draft - Now Ongoing post awesome punk songs thread (2 Viewers)

15.04 - Minor Threat - Straight Edge (1981) - 80s song

well I guess that I should take this, considering that I was straight edge for most of high school and into college, including no caffeine and veganism (for a time).  when i designed my high school yearbook page, it had a border going around it with SXE repeating.  The yearbook advisor said we couldn't do it because it looked like it was saying SEX.  I said, look you dumb ####, it is the opposite of that and I guess we don't want to encourage people to abstain from drugs and alchohol, but whatever man, be like that.

16.14 - Bloodhound Gang - Kids in America (1995) - Cover

Loved Bloodhound Gang from the beginning, before the split and always wished that they could have stayed with the original iteration to keep more of the hardcore evil undertones mixed with the silliness, but maybe it wouldn't have worked and now we get the Wolfpac underground part and the Bloodhoung Gang poppy part, but anyway...

Always thought this was a pretty cool version of this song and I'd like to have Bloodhound Gang in here somewhere, even though they are more punk-adjacent.

and with my last pick, I'll grace this draft with some horror folk punk:

20.04 Harley Poe - I Wanna Die

🎶 Do I hope and have faith and make it through the night? Do I lay in bed all day or do I get up and fight? Waking up without my family, well, it just ain't right to me 🎶

Dude, they ####ed up my yearbook page, too. I quoted Fugazi's Shut The Door and they told me I burned a fire to stay warm take that to the bank bromigo

17/18 picks

First one, true to the season, is my favorite Christmas punk song.

Vandals- Oi To The World

The Bouncing Souls have been around in here, but I haven't taken any of their tunes. I love this band, had a blast every time I saw them, had a really tough time just choosing one of their tunes, but settled on this one.

Bouncing Souls- Lean On Sheena

Well, since there seems to be a love test with the Interrupters, I am going to take this now. This will be my only pick of a band I have not seen. But they play Irving Plaza in March. Maybe I take my kids to their first punk show.

4.14 The Interrupters, Shes Kerosene

I give my students an assignment to make a song parody using 20 facts from the chapter. In an effort to show them that I will do it as well, I wrote a parody to this song this morning and performed it for them. :punkrock:

:headbang:

Are we supposed to make a Spotify playlist and post it. I will do it, but wasnt sure because of the master play list

Last picks, 19/20 turn.

Discovered this band in the last few years, definitely one of my favorite contemporary punk bands.

Turkish Techno- Without You

Heard these guys for the first time when I saw them live years ago. They were spectacular.

Leatherface- Not A Day Goes By

@Northern Voicethanks for the draft. Awesome idea, had a great time making the picks and hearing some new stuff I hadn't heard. Will be spending a lot of time enjoying this playlist.

I will update the master list. I was going to do it last night but my neighbor who looks after the beer for three local craft beer bars called me and told me he had a bunch of "samples" dropped off for him and "needed help" seeing if any were worth ordering for the local watering hole.

17.xx - Circle Jerks - Wild in the Streets

18.xx - Bad Religion - #### Armageddon This Is Hell

Bad Religion is my personal favorite band of all time.  I would have drafted them earlier, but there are so many good songs to choose from I was happy to clean up whatever was left.  Kinda surprised more people didn't pick their songs after two were taken in the 1st round.  This song IMHO captures the band perfectly and sets the tone for their songs over the next 3 decades.

19.xx - Jay Reatard - Nightmares

I was big into him until he died, but now I honestly find him a little difficult to listen to given how dark his songs are.

20.xx - Paramore - Misery Business

I struggled with the female pick TBH.  Was going to draft a Distillers song, at the start, but they seemed to be the trendy band in this space.  I don't even know if Paramore is considered punk, but this song has pop punk vibes to me.  I've always liked the song (half ashamed of it) so #### anyone who says otherwise.  The Distillers' song I was originally planning on drafting from the start was Seneca Falls

They don't play this song live anymore because of the 'once a whore, you're nothing more' line because Hayley Williams is very #woke.

I've seen Paramore twice, once around 2008 opening for No Doubt and once at a festival last summer. It was like seeing two different bands, once all fiery pop punk angst and aggression, now just straight up sunny 80s pop.

I think their most recent (not at all punk) album is the best they've made but they were way better live with the old guitar based stuff.
