PUNK Music Draft - Now Ongoing post awesome punk songs thread (2 Viewers)

Cool. How do you know so many of these artists?
Played in a few bands, started a record label, hung out with people who played in bands and ran record labels.  Went to a lot of shows and introduced myself to people who made music that I find compelling.    Hang around long enough and eventually you’ll find yourself a few feet away from Mike Watt.

Minor Threat -- Filler

Track 1 of their "complete discography" record.   This jam nearly ####### made my head explode when I first heard this (9th grade, I think?)

At that point, I'd never heard ANYTHING this fast or this angry.   One of those immediate WHOA, WHAT THE #### IS THIS?!? moments.  I've discovered and digested about 17 brazillion bands since then, but I'm not sure any of them ever clobbered me on first listen like Minor Threat did.

@Bonzai, to you

This was tenth grade for me.

New Bomb Turks - Mr. Suit

Wire tune. One of my favorite covers.
I knew when you logged in you were taking the Turks. That was weird. You liked another one of their songs in a random thread about music. Anyway, I'm going to take one off of this album if I get the chance to do so.

Great pick, man. Love this cover, too. I would encourage everyone to click the link.

I'm tired of ####### phonies/That's right I'm sick of you/I said - no - no -no no no no Mr. Suit!

Jaysus takes Death Will Bring Change, Parquet Courts
Btw....This may or may not have been jaysus pick.
So, I think we're missing 2 from @Jaysus  and I believe @Mike Damone was skipped in there as well.  @JZilla also owes 1.

Ignite- straight ahead

I might have gotten them confused.

You don’t talk with Watt.  You spiel.  But yeah he’s great.
That sounds absolutely right. And cool as heck. Seriously, from what I remember, every time I hear him talk in music documentaries he has something to say that I find myself nodding in agreement with.

Watt talks.

:rockaction nods affirmatively:

Okay, you overloaded my system. That's the first song in this draft I haven't heard in some form or another.

You did it. Or Jaysus did. I can't even tell.  Consider me broken, bruised, poor, tired, a huddled mass right now.
You never heard of Ignite? Zoli took over for Jim in Pennywise for a bit. But no one seems to talk about that and they never play a Zoli song in concert.

Nope. Totally out of my wheelhouse, I think. Just never was into that stuff. I'm not a Pennywise fan, either, unfortunately, unless we're counting Bro Hymn at hockey games. That song I dig, but otherwise, nobody in me or my immediate circle back in punk rock days liked Pennywise, either.

Just off the radar, I guess.

Im tired and going to bed (how punk rock is that). I guess if everyone is here, skip me. Ill make it up in the morning

I think I deserve some credit for lasting 4 rounds before making this pick, but whatever, I absolutely ####### love this band, this song. The best punk album of the last decade or so. They're from Toronto and I've seen them a bunch of times now, shows are always indredible. Video also rules.

Debated going Minor Threat with my last pick since I was surprised nobody else had.

Also loving The Interrupters.
:goodposting:

threw them on my Spotify and am instantly a big fan. When I said the song that was drafted had heavy influence from Rancid/Armstrong the rest of their catalogue feels heavier on the influence. They sound like a cross between the Distillers and Rancid. I could be wrong but I recall hearing the Distillers lead singer was married to Armstrong.

Had not thought about this, but that's true. And yes, Brody Dalle was married to Tim Armstrong.

Well, since there seems to be a love test with the Interrupters, I am going to take this now. This will be my only pick of a band I have not seen. But they play Irving Plaza in March. Maybe I take my kids to their first punk show.

4.14 The Interrupters, Shes Kerosene

That was my 3.14, and also my 90s pick (which I will have a ton of)

I was planning on The Interrupters - By My Side for my girl pick to close out my required pics because I   Aimee Interrupter hard, but I'll go a different way for variety with my 4.04 pick Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Date with The Night

Now it's time to catch up on what I missed in  the thread  I made that pick based on the Google Doc, so I can change it if needed.
