PUNK Music Draft - Now Ongoing post awesome punk songs thread (1 Viewer)

That look the father fish gives the son when he asks what water is.

That's how I feel right now. Just totally at home in this draft.

Even uploaded some out-of-print vinyl on Soundcloud for your listening pleasure, folks. If you want, that is. Will get to that pick later.

@El Floppo is next i think

looking through, lots of great picks in here. Nice job all around.

Was unsure of which direction to go here,  but i will go a little local flavor from with my man Lee Ving. Though defined as the band behind California punk scene, Lee was Philly through and through. Picked this song/band this high for a variety of reasons, but the appearance on SNL brought Punk into the mainstream beautifully.

Fear - Let's Have A War -   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l1HhblSEXoc

"WE CAN START IN NEW JERSEY!!!"

will find SNL apperance if i can, quick look still looking

It's weird because the Dancing French Liberals of '48 were on Spotify, but no longer. That's too bad. I can't change the pick, really, but will try and stick to a playlist. By "try," I mean try. Some songs are just too good to pass up and there is a ton of out-of-print punk stuff I love.

Sorry busy at work. I'll work on it in a bit. Let's have a war was going to be one of my next picks.

Yeah. There's been a few tunes here I've never heard that I dig. Really love that Titus Andronicus song posted earlier. I'd listened to some of their stuff and hadn't been real impressed.  But this one was great.

DIgging this Interrupters song.  Hadn't heard of them (am largely out of the loop when it comes to post-2000 bands).  They definitely have a Rancid vibe and it doesn't hurt that the lead singer is cute AF.
Tim produces all their stuff. They are a hellcat band. Very good. I was hoping to draft one of their songs. My kids know take the power back and sing it. One of the only punk songs they know.

I’m a little embarrassed at how much I have not heard of, and we are in the first few rounds, which I thought would be the most recognizable stuff.

Makes sense. After I posted I noticed they were Hellcat, but was listening to her sing and the way she flowed through that song reminded me exactly of Armstrong

I never got the sellout part for bands. Isn’t that he goal to make $$. If it isn’t they’re doing it wrong.
No, the goal of being in a band is to make music with other people.

The creative impulse is innate and occurs independently of money.  You can tell because humanity has had music way longer than we’ve had money.

I know approximately 200,000 musicians who make art within the punk/garage/diy aesthetic—some of whom have been drafted here—and literally none of them got into music to “make $$” or even believed such a thing were possible.

Being in a position to “sell out” occurs largely by chance, and hardly anybody gives a damn if you do.  The point is to make music because they can’t f’n stop you.

hmm, nice pick.

with it being a 20-round draft, i was hoping Distillers would go little later. i'll grab their best one (in my opinion):

The Distillers - The Young, Crazed Peeling. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rI53n1dZn70

not much to it, catchy tune. there are better one's, but as for the female punk category i put this top 5 or so

@Jaysus up to bat
I LOVE this song. This whole album really. There's at least one more from this record I may pick later.

The Dead Boys-Sonic Reducer

This is one of my favorite bands. Saw their reunion/revival a few months back and they still put on a great show.
Best single of the punk era.  Mint jam.  Classic rock in every sense of the word.  Should be noted that this isn’t originally a Dead Boys song, but Cheetah’s best jam in Rocket From The Tombs.

Cool. How do you know so many of these artists?
