PUNK Music Draft - Now Ongoing post awesome punk songs thread (2 Viewers)

Knocking out the required pics first:

1.14 - Last Caress - Misfits (70s) (technicality on release date, but I love it, so I am taking it)

2.04 - Punk Rock Girl - Dead Milkmen (80s) (Every single memory I have of South Street includes this song)
Knocking it out of the park. I had trouble taking Where Eagles Dare over Last Caress. Punk Rock Girl was on my list, too. Dead Milkmen was the first punk show I ever saw.

you think that now.. but you just wait until my pop-punk recency bias kicks in after my run of 90s vegan straight edge hardcore picks.  It's gonna get ugly.

Following the youtube comments, I see the band "Burn the Priest" (which is either just rebranded Lamb of God or a spinoff from LoG) -- covered this tune.  I'm starting to feel some GET OFF MY LAWN swell up inside me, but I'm trying to suppress it.
Burn the Priest was Lamb of Gods original name until they were scared off years ago and didnt use it. They did an entire cover album that dropped a couple of months ago. I remember liking the Bad Brains cover they did

well, thanks a lot to modogg for grabbing DK and Waiting Room (since it is technically 80s, though they are other Fugazi tracks I like better), but nonetheless, the DK track that I really wanted was:

2.14 - Dead Kennedys - California Uber Alles - 1978 (1979?)

it's another 70s one, but I don't care.  I want to say that I found out about this track based on the Disposable Heroes of Hiphophrisy track that sampled the chorus, which hit me hard as a young teen starting to embrace anti-authority concepts and generally seeing through the facade of normal life.  Either way, I love the spirit and idea of the song, so whether a reach or not, I just can't get enough of it.

hahahahaha LAME

Living in and around the NYC area affords you many opportunities to see great new bands, old bands and anything in between. Having gotten into punk around 1991/1992, and then branding myself straight edge a year or two later, one band that got away was Minor Threat. So what do you do when you cant see a band you love, you go see what their new band is up to. Fugazi is a band I actually listened to before ever knowing what straight edge was.

This was back before the Internet so you had to rely on friends older siblings or cousins to tell you what was what. I actually learned about Fugazi from Pearl Jam who was, and probably still is my favorite band. Eddie was a big Fugazi fan and would break off into Suggestion on many of the bootlegs that I owned. So my first Fugazi album I ever bought was Steady Diet of Nothing. Would have been great to be in on those early albums but I was too young when they came out. Anyway, I remember paying the 5 bucks or whatever it was Discord was charging at the time and this song absolutely blew me away.

My one and only time seeing these guys was July 16, 1998 at The Chance in Poughkeepsie NY. I have seen many other shows there, but this one was memorable for being hot and filled with the masses beyond any reasonable fire code regulations. The band was great and this song once again stood out as a gem

2.15, Fugazi- Long Division

My aura smiles and never frowns

I've got a big hole in my knowledge of this stuff - late 80s through most of the 90s... looking forward to seeing all of your guys picks.

Operation Ivy is where it's at. Also once I get my categories out of the way,  I will mostly be drafting 90s punk.

Everyone who has been to a punk show knows that the best shows usually happen in the smallest of places. Well, I can definitely remember the smallest place I have ever seen a show. There was an old NJ punk/HC band named Heckle. Im pretty sure only @Jaysus would have heard of them if anyone here would have. They were an OK band who I had some personal ties to (more on that in another Acer pick). Anyway, one of the guys in the band used to open up his garage for bands to play in. I dont remember exactly what town they lived in, but there werent more than 50 people that were able to squeeze into the garage. Of course there were about 100-200 waiting outside the garage and hanging in the backyard. That day I saw Creep Division (Craig Ahead from Sick of it All), Heckle, Good Riddance and AFI. The place was so small that AFI was basically asking people what songs they wanted to hear. Since I do not know the names of any songs, I yelled out "Davey, I dont want to #### you." He responded by saying he didnt want to #### me either and broke out into Cruise Control which was the name of the song. Great show and a great night out at the Garage

3.3 AFI, Porphyria, The Garage

Ok, I don't know, I don't care, this song just came in to my head today now that we are doing all this, so I am going with it.

3.4 The Pist - Threat (1993?)

I guess I had this on a Lookout! Compilation called Punk USA?  I can't even really figure out what album it is from and the spotify version is only the live version from something else.  The above youtube version is the studio version where i think the anger and #### it all attitude of the vocals really comes through.  I love this song.

Black Flag - TV Party

I remember taking the Wasted...Again greatest hits out of my pocket and setting it on the dinner table and my mom picking it up and putting into my face saying "WATS THISS?"  Memories...
I was 13-14 when I bought the Pistols album in 79 , when my mother found it I would’ve been better being caught with a Hustler. The punk hysteria by parents was off the charts back then

Still remember having a friend's mom take 3 of us out to the mall with the record store that had all of the import / punk stuff available. As with the aforementioned exposure to Suicidal, I was probably right around 13 at the time. Walked out of that record store with this and a few other things. A stern warning of 'Do not let my mom see that, she'll make us walk home' was delivered from the friend whose mom was driving.
