PUNK Music Draft - Now Ongoing post awesome punk songs thread (1 Viewer)

It's time to give it over to the youth on this one. This is off an an album, Stage Four, that Jeremy Bolm wrote after his mother died of cancer. I dread my own parents' death -- we have a good relationship -- and this album just slays me. He does a very job of balancing his own grief with a sensitivity for what his mother went through. RIP, ma'am.

Touche Amore - New Halloween (2016)

Link to entire album. It's worth a listen. By the way, I figured out my shtick for the draft. It's to draft as many '90s and '10s songs as I can. I figure that will mix in the youth with the older.

eta* The shtick is to draft as many songs from the past decade as possible

Without spotlighting, there's at least 4 bands in Rival Schools lineage that either have been drafted already or I may still draft later.
?

Throw me a bone here, I dont even know what the hell  rival schools is

Quicksand FTW
I saw them a year ago. I was wearing a Desmond Dekker shirt and hobnobbing with people who knew nothing about punk.

It was boring. And sad.

eta* They were great. It was the crowd. Maybe it was just me.

@trogg78, right?

BTW -- now that we've spotlighted, Quicksand might be my favorite punk/alt/hardcore element act of the nineties. Slip and Manic Compression were awesome albums.

One of my favorites shows was opening up for this band. Somewhere in Indiana at a rec hall. Shortly after they started playing a cop came up on stage and Blag began screaming the song into his face. The Cop grabbed the mic and stopped the show. Some punk busted his window and that was all she wrote. There used to be a video of the incident on a YouTube but it’s since been removed. This song came out in 1990.

The Dwarves-Drug Store

Not sure who’s next with the extra picks:

@JZilla @modogg @El Floppo

Blag is still a hoot.  He frequently pops up onstage at local shows to sing a chorus or hype/rag the band.

So, last year was my 40th bday. One of the things I wanted to do was learn to play guitar. My sisters bought me an electric, my wife got me lessons for a year and my brother in law got me an acoustic. Youtube is so awesome for people who want to learn to play guitar, but one person (not teacher) who really stood out is Jen Fiorentina. She is a punk rock girl who covers punk rock on her acoustic guitar. Her set up got better as the years went on but the early stuff is prob the best. She is from Canada @Northern Voice. Maybe you have seen her around. Not too big of a country eh?

Enjoy

Thanks, got a work playlist for the next few weeks.

By the way, I'm not drafting this band because we're building a playlist but I uploaded some garage punk from the Netherlands onto Soundcloud.

It's a band called Jabberwocky, and it's an A-side with Drunk On The Highway and Miss Me. Enjoy, or not, at your leisure. It's a nineties record that came out on Baby Doll records in RI and it's a good one, IMHO.

He is just picking at his leisure because of his schedule - we're just skipping his picks when he is on the clock.
Oh, okay. That was confusing.

I knew about the smoke and the air and the boss, but hadn't figured out what was said. ;)

Love me some Zilla picks. Covers abound!

i'll stick to the Germs if no one minds (and if they do i had like 20 other songs i thought about picking so no biggee). but to keep this moving at a nice punk style pace, feel free to throw the Germs in for me

Germs - Lexicon Devil -  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_v18sGDxAOE

trying to take some of the songs others may take before nipping at the edges. Funniest thing i can think about this song, and half of the punk songs i like, is how much of a rip off it is when i go to a bar and a juke box and i play Punk. Definitely don't get the bang for my buck with these songs under 2 minutes

I'm out as far as drafting, still loving the draft though, lots of new stuff for me here

all I know about punk is that I don't know nothin

method.
You old acid-addled Yes fan. Quit telling us what punk is about when the only album you know is Never Mind The Bollocks. There is no punk canon. If there is, it's artifice. You just don't know it. You don't understand these drafts aren't about objective awesomeness. They're personal. Until you get that, stop commenting if you're not going to draft.

This attack seems unnecessary.
Kind of like your two on mine. I'm sick of you and your shtick. You come in, not participating, stamping foot around and glaring at everybody. Drop it. It's not an unnecessary attack. It's very necessary to keep you either involved and interested, or out of the thread. Seems simple, actually.

Honestly, I tried to write you an apology about last time when you were clearly in the wrong and people commented on it. You responded with a ####ty response. Then you went after me again in another thread.

I don't like you.

You don't like me.

Stay out of this thread, because nobody wants to hear your criticism of their picks, especially when we're punk fans and you spent your youth dedicated to Yes.

1
11 page thread.

First comment - pg 11 about a leading band out there not yet recognized.

Second comment - "good one flop"

Get your story straight.
