That is why even after the anthem controversy he is the starter and Gabbert is on the bench, he adds a dimension to the offense missing with Blaine.
This week was the first time since the preseason that he was able to work with the first team and it generally takes awhile for a QB and the WRs to get their timing down. So the fact he had a "rough day" was not unexpected, as evidenced by the fact that Buffalo was a popular choice as a streaming defense in fantasy.

For the record, I was at the game and did not hear any booing during the anthem. Before and after, yes.

Solid outing today, if we subtract those two forward handoffs to Patton, we've basically got an 11/27 day with 150 yards. If he would've missed Torrey Smith (where the defense apparently forgot about him and there was nobody within about 15 yards of him, and he almost did), he would've reverted back to the mean in his first game - 10/26 for 95 (less the 2 to 3 turnovers, so he had that going for him).
Thought he'd come in and give them a lift for maybe a game or two, doesn't look to be the case (hopefully). Going to be hard to keep pace with the Bears and Browns, don't need to take on any unnecessary wins.

Being able to throw deep was an added dimension that Gabbert lacked is what I was talking about, but I digress...
And you don't find having an actual vertical game that defenses will have to respect (instead of just dinking and dunking to Kerley) is not adding a dimension to the offense?

Do you ever stop with the pathetic spin. He was pretty bad today. There are lots of crappy QB's who can throw the ball a long range. The truth is Kaep stinking at QB has very little to do with this issue, except it will probably fade away due to his irrelevance.

I still think Kaepernick is going to be a starting QB in the league. I just look around and see so much lousy QB play that he has a place.

None of them named Blaine Gabbert.
No, overall he didn't look good. Stipulated. But you keep overlooking the fact that he had not even practiced during the regular season with the first team until this week. He had no opportunity to work on his timing with receivers. The fact that he struggled should not be a shock to anyone. Things should improve if he remains the starting QB and there is no guarantee of that.

I have said that all along, probably in the Shark Pool Kaep thread, as I have posted in both and sometimes confuse the two.
Anyway, there are only a limited number of guys who can actually play QB at the NFL level. That is why Sam Bradford who hadn't shown much of anything in his pro career, got a $26 million guaranteed contract by the Eagles and was subsequently traded for a first round draft pick to the Vikings.
Kaep to his credit did take the 49ers to the Super Bowl, and it was not as a Trent Dilfer type game manager QB.
Yes, he seriously regressed after that and may never recover. I am making no predictions of future success, but he certainly will be given the opportunity to start again with another team after this season, irrespective of how he plays with the 49ers.

He might be able to beat out Fitzpatrick, but then QBs like Bridgewater and Griffin will still be around, along with a whole new draft. Nobody is going to be hiring him as a starter. Maybe he gets lucky with an injury though.

Pretty solid theory, IMHO. He was a much better QB when he was standing for the national anthem. Of course we can not completely eliminate the impact the act of kneeling itself might have. It seemed to negatively impact Tebow's ability to throw the ball. Seems not to impact the ability to run though.

Sometimes I find it annoying when political stuff crosses over into sports - that's when you have dolts like one in this very thread that act like they know anything, when in reality not only do they know zero about sports (which they prove), but further show us they know nothing about anything.

I stated I want Watson in this post at the start of the season. Could it be possible I just want the best QB (regardless of race, which has ZERO to do with winning/losing) for the team I root for? Watson is black in case you don't know who he is.

I thought his response to the question in his postgame press conference was pretty classy. He really did not look like a good QB out there though. He broke a few runs when the Bills failed to contain him, but the Niners had no offense otherwise. It was pretty windy, 20-25 mph winds, so that may have played a part, but he was pretty inaccurate downfield....even that Smith TD was a pretty brutal throw....it was just even worse coverage by the Bills.

You said he was great QB "The point that was being made was that he should be given a shot as the starter again, since he can throw the deep ball which the noodle armed Gabbert can not. The argument wasn't that he was this incredible talent being benched for kneeling during the anthem.
He was a good player IMO at one point in time (see Super Bowl year) and he may be again. He may resurrect his career or he may never be anything more than a journeyman backup after he leaves the 49ers. Overall, he failed to impress yesterday and for fantasy players he will nothing more in Week 7 against TB as a desperation start for Big Ben owners who have no other options on the waiver wire.
