Lets summarize.

This joker decides to sit for the anthem to get attention for himself cause he lost his job to Blaine gabbert.  Let's say that again.  He lost his job to Blaine gabbert.  so he decided to put SF in a tough spot to save himself and his career. He may have been close to getting cut. If they cut him makes it look like they are cutting him cause he sat for anthem.

As far as I know, kaep never did anything with his fame or money for social change in the many years he was the number 1 QB before he was benched/cut from his job.  If I'm wrong please show me some facts with this part.  

He then goes on to give numerous broad quotes about social injustice, change, politics blah blah.  Then he doesn't even vote in the election.

He finally does get cut in off season.  Then says he's gonna stand again.

His money last season was guaranteed after April 1st (or somewhere around there if that isn't the exact date). What you probably don't remember because I'd assume you knew zero on this guy before this anthem nonsense is the Niners tried desperately to trade him before last year's draft - nobody wanted him at $15-$17MM a season, which is actually a discount for a starting NFL QB.

For the 2017-2019 seasons, his only guarantees were against injury. Although never made publicly (the real reasons) why he redid his contract, anyone who can read between the lines understands they weren't playing him until those injury guarantees were out. Once redone, he had no guarantees and they played him.

Generally, most football journalists or writers don't aspire to be hired by an NFL team - that is not the career path they want to follow. Instead they want to keep moving up the ladder in football sports journalism. Some have done it, but generally most football writers don't aspire to go in that direction.

And you could make the same argument about Matt Waldman - if he is so great at evaluating rookies, why hasn't an NFL team hired him? Why he still just hawking his Rookie Scouting Portfolio?

According to this CBS link, his 2016 contract did have guaranteed money (perhaps I should have save this for someone who knows what they are talking about).

By the amount of obsession he's exhibiting over this, I'm sensing the kind of emotional investment he has/had in him as transcending just being a 49ers fan. I'm thinking that the guy hitched his proverbial wagon to him back in 2012-13 and now the wheels have come completely off. That jersey, which once brought him so much joy, just hangs in the back corner of his closet. You should inform CBS Sports, as it appears that they don't know much about NFL contracts, either, as I was just quoting them to refute the OP's statement. And I was raising a question about possible racism, not making a direct accusation or insinuation. I don't know the OP, so I can't say either way, but there was a tone set early in the thread, with several posters taking some arguably racists shots at Kaep which were not called out - and that did not sit well with me, so speculation about this is not unwarranted IMO

And I did watch the Super Bowl, and it wasn't four consecutive throws to Crabs, as the first down was a handoff to LaMichael James that got two yards. I think the next two plays were called by Harbaugh with the fourth down being an audible called by Kaep - which admittedly was not a good choice but would have worked if not for an apparent hold on Crabtree by Ravens’ safety Jimmy Smith, that was not called.

I think he is, to a degree... he has the unenviable position of being on the wrong side of a VERY polarizing position that brings a lot of blowback, but at least he's not a very good QB!

Let's be honest, if he were a starting caliber QB, someone would take a chance on him and once he won a few games it would all be good. I mean ####, Vick helped kill dogs, like as a business practice, went to jail for a long time, and THEN was embraced.  And he was hardly a worldbeater at QB.  If Kaep didn't suck, his baggage wouldn't be such an "issue"

That said, I still laugh at the morality police who are ok with Vick, wife beaters etc and then take a stand against a guy for a silent and peaceful protest (which I could respect to a degree, even if I disagree with how he did it, IF not for the fact that the idiot himself didn't vote... at that point he's a worthless gasbag)

Didn't get any real answers to my question of why THIS straw broke the camels back, but they are fine with wife/girlfriend abuses, deadbeat dads, gang members with violent history.  

I mean, seriously people need to get some context.

Interesting in that what Tyreek Hill did (throwing his pregnant girlfriend down a flight of stairs) was not found as objectionable by NFL fans as many today now feel about Kaep.

Wonder if Joe Mixon signed with the Jets if the same fans you know on Facebook, would take a similar stand and not follow the team? I would hope so for consistency. It would be unjust to me if Mixon ends up on a 2017 roster, while Kaep sits idle at home, blackballed by NFL owners.

I agree, this goes back to my comments on Joe Mixon 2 pages ago (who Squistion now brings into the conversation, I guess he used Google earlier).

An NFL team will overlook all if they feel someone can help them win.

The crux of the issue is he isn't very good. Nobody is going to chase a controversial QB who is mediocre at best. 

With that being said, I think he'll eventually sign somewhere for like 2/8 or 10 with the 2nd being team option. He'll be released at the end of the season never to be heard from in the NFL again - & the Squistions everywhere will brand us all racists
