QB Anthony Richardson, IND (1 Viewer)

Anyone watch the Notre Dame game? That Irish QB is three years older than ARich.

Perspective.
Patience is another word for this situation. AR is probably going to struggle this season. His passing may be awful but he should be able to run similarly to Fields last year. Like Fields, that isn’t what you want from your QB due to injury risk but it is going to be fun as hell to watch. Fields should take a big step forward with his passing game this season and I expect the same from Richardson next season.

And again, this is something that keeps getting lost in the constant discussion of whether or not he can improve his passing ability to one day be a top 1000 NFL quarterback from a throwing perspective. Dating back to high school Richardson has rarely shown the ability to both run the ball and stay healthy enough to continue running the ball.

And these aren't flukey injuries. These are the kind of injuries that you see some guys can't shake. Basically the DeAndre Swift of QBs. Hamstrings, shoulders, ankles, concussion. He even tore his meniscus while dancing. There's a very real chance that he's a future Kadarius Toney meme and no one is even talking about it.

Not usually major injuries, but the kind where you miss a few weeks, then you come back for a few weeks but clearly weren't ready, then a few more weeks where you can run but can't really take hits so you just kind of scoot out of bounds every time. Then you look up and it's mid December and the guy who's whole value was supposed to be his legs has 450yds rushing.

1 out of 6 seasons between high school and college that he actually stayed healthy enough to really run the ball like everyone is hoping he will run the ball.
It's tackle football.. good luck predicting injuries this year. Unfortunately that one player who never gets hurt will get hurt this year.

what's great about Arich is he is cheap. can draft a backup if you think there will be growing pains. so maybe a cousins or tua in front of him then pick him as an upside play. or if you wait a bit longer draft Arich first then like arod, purdy or goff. or if you have a higher end qb arich on your bench might be good trade bait later in year. for the cost and upside he potentially has he really is not a bad pick at all with plenty of options to hedge against him

Cheap? He's going pretty high in rookie drafts, even start 1QB leagues.

i was talking mostly redraft but, yeah, he shouldn't be cheap in dynos. as high as pick 2 if superflex. in a year or two he could be going right next to hurts and ljax

One year our local league Taco drafted a team full of perennially injured players, including 3 who were out for 2-3 weeks to start the season.

Most of them fell past their ADP because again, injured.

They all got healthy, his team was stacked. And yes, of course he won the league by beating me in the LCG that year thanks for asking.

Richardson is my plan D for QB this year.

Feel a bit burned last year as I targeted another rookie running QB (Lance) and paired him with Cousins late.

Would rather go QB earlier than usual since I see lots of WR/RB value rounds 5-9. And historically I have always waited on QB.

Plan A) L. Jackson Round 4.
Plan B) J. Fields or Herbert Round 5.
Place C). T. Lawrence Round 6.
Plan D). A. RIchardson around pick 100 followed immediately by one of Goff, Geno, D. Jones.

This was a great post. I am very much in the wait and see camp, but I don't think 12 carries a game is the goal. You can have a Justin Fields stretch of games, but all season? Nahhhh

The threat of the rushing makes the running game stronger. He has to be a minimum level of passer. Who knows if he gets there?

Will he have same coach/offense for the next few years? That will be important.

True that injuries occur seemingly randomly. Also true that some players have a higher likelihood based on body type, position, playing style and history. AR's profile doesn't bode well.

I dunno. He's the size of the LB tackling him. He does have excellent awareness, so getting down or out of bounds will be the most common outcome on scrambles.

It's not like RG3, where I was invoking Jobu and sacrificing chickens for him to not get injured anytime he took off. RG3 was so slight I used to get worried if a butt pat was too enthusiastic.

Obviously he has physical skills, does he have the passing ability to put up yards year 1?
Did Josh Allen, Jalen Hurts, Cam Newton? I think they want him to be a game manager until he gets acclimated with the NFL. The level of expectation for him is off the charts. I think he is going to be a great qb. One we've never seen before but we need to pump the brakes.

I waited too long to draft my 3rd QB in a start 2 QB league and ended up with him as my 3rd...have Hurts/Geno also. Hoping he's just my bye week fill in. I feel like if I have to rely on him weekly, my season could be in trouble.

I think his upside in a super flex league is championship winning.
Well, yea in a normal league......this league is has very unique scoring. You don't compile points for every yard. You have to hit milestones......the one upside for him in this league is his big play ability. Big bonuses for long TD's

Starting him because I didn't get a back-up

Sort of on purpose. The conventional wisdom was to get a steady backup to pair with Richardson just in case, but I don't agree.

I don't want to be tempted to put him on the bench. Putting Richardson on the bench seems like a good way to end up kicking yourself when he goes for 150/2 on the ground.

Starting Geno over him. Should be a top 10 this week. Just want to see him(Richardson) in action & get used to the NFL.

Very excited to see how he does. My gut says he performs well and the Colts pull an upset. Either way I think he will continue to improve throughout the year and become a top 5 FF QB in the near future.

Anthony Richardson completed 24 of 37 passes for 223 yards, one touchdown, and one pick. Richardson rushed ten times for 40 yards and a touchdown before exiting Week 1 against the Jaguars with an unspecified injury.

Richardson took a shot at the end of a scramble near the goal line as the Colts tried to punch it in late in the fourth quarter. He remained down on the turf for a while and made his way to the sideline without assistance from team trainers. It’s unclear what Richardson may have injured. It was the second time the rookie stayed down after a big hit from a Jacksonville defender. He acquitted himself well in his regular season debut,. He managed the game well in a hyper-conservative game plan deployed by the Colts, avoiding major mistakes and looking to Michael Pittman often after the Colts went down by multiple scores. If he’s OK, Richardson profiles as a top-10 fantasy option against the Texans in Week 2.

#Colts rookie QB Anthony Richardson told reporters he bruised his left knee during today's loss to the #Jaguars, but will be fine. Backup Gardner Minshew closed out the game after Richardson departed in the final minute.

Had itnot been for that I think his Stat line would have been even more impressive. I think he would have either thrown for a td or another rush td. I have Cousins going against Philly this Thursday or Richardson against the Texans. Cousins has bad games in prime time and Richardson impressed the heck out of me. Am I crazy to start him over Cousins?
