QB Anthony Richardson, IND (7 Viewers)

They should as 3 questions. What’s your name?, what day is it?, who are you playing? If all answered correctly, you’re good to go.

It seems as if some didn't pick up on my sarcasm. This is what they probably did back in the day.

Bad take IMO.

If you can find your car, get it started and know your home address you should be allowed to drive drunk.

People with head trauma should not be allowed to to determine their fitness for driving or playing football.

There is physical damage occurring. Just because you can't see it, doesn't mean it doesn't exist. Have a little compassion for the wounded.

Now imagine the person you are talking about is your kiddo.

Around here, you can never be sure.

Of the 3 rookie QBs he seemed the least likely of the bunch to get hurt first.
Just saw - concussion. That blows.
You could never prove it, but I would guess this is simply the next one, continuing from last week's one.
Could be onto something here. I can't find it now, but I read he flagged himself to the trainer for concussion symptoms, not the other way around.

Either way, two injuries through two weeks doesn't feel great. His upside is undeniable. Hell, he barely played one quarter and finished as a high end QB2. But it's real early in his career to already be worried about longevity.

Was an unfortunate concussion as his bounced off the turf after being tackled. I was thinking of possibly trying to buy him but now I’m not sure if the coaching staff will try to protect him more and not have him run as much. If they don’t let him run, I’m not sure he can be a good passer.

This may help mend some of the JT issues and they may welcome him back and look to give him the ball instead of getting their QB knocked out of games running the ball.

-"So, after scoring two touchdowns in a span of two offensive plays, the Indianapolis Colts' rookie quarterback admitted he was experiencing concussion symptoms early in the second quarter"

-"The concussion, Colts coach Shane Steichen believes, occurred when Richardson scored on a 15-yard touchdown run with 9:18 remaining in the first quarter. Richardson, who turned the corner after a devastating block by receiver Michael Pittman Jr. and a downfield block by tight end Kylen Granson, appeared to think he would reach the end zone untouched. But just as he neared the goal line, Houston safety M.J. Stewart converged and hit Richardson at full speed, knocking him down as he reached the end zone and causing his head to hit the turf field."

-"Richardson returned to the game for two subsequent series, playing six more snaps before he informed trainers of his issues."

I wonder how many times Tua has volunteered his head hurts during Sunday games

Why isn't the media freaking out about AR like they did Tua? Because he's huge? Because he's more of a runner than a passer? What? Why aren't guardian helmets a part of Sundays since they "work" during practice? Why? The hypocrisy is off the charts with the NFL, but what else isn't new?

Because it was much less of a concussion than Tua's to the point where AR had to point it out himself as nobody else had noticed?

Tua was visibly concussed and couldn't keep his balance. He was allowed back into the game, which never should have happened. Tua hit his head again five days later and again was visibly concussed, and this time he did not return to the game. AR was not visibly concussed or suspected of having a concussion, but he took himself out of the game cause he didn't feel right.

So you don't believe AR had a concussion in week 1? Dude is 2 weeks into his career and has one reported concussion and possibly a second that wasn't reported in his first game. "Knee contusion?" Yeah....right. HYPOCRICY.

So you've seen the brain scans? What I see here is AR is soft and the NFL and related media are showing their hypocrisy, yet again.

AR better change his playing style or he won't last three years in the league. He's obviously used to being the bully on the field but that's not how the NFL works.

You're being over dramatic to the 10th degree.

Wat?

It seems like you have some kind of point to make, not sure what it is, and are trying to shoehorn AR into it.

That's right, where are all these media heads circling and talking about Richardson perhaps stepping away for a few weeks?
2 concussions his first 2 weeks or is it 2 injuries and he couldn't finish the games?
I'm curious why there isn't more outcry as well
What happens if he sustains another one this weekend because they are going to be watching now that he's raised his hand signaling he wasn't right.
I would like to hear more about the extent of these injuries Week 1 and 2, what's the protocol for him entering Week 3

Wait a minute, how do you know or how does anyone know it was any less of a concussion just because Richardson had to volunteer the information? It's possibly worse
I understand your POV and where you're coming from, admittedly I thought something similar at first but how do we know?

They have the luxury of Gardner Minshew, would sit Richardson this week, maybe another and just let him absorb a game or two form the sidelines behind Minshew, the team knows he is the starting QB, no reason not to be cautious with him. And it will give them an opportunity to "Showcase" Minshew which is a big upgrade over Zach Wilson right now.

Dramatic?
Let's go back to when this kid was drafted and read the dramatic proclamations made by Dynasty Drafters and some Indy fans about this kid's future in the NFL

Dramatic?
They're just reacting to what unfolded last year when Tua experienced a series of concussions and media heads from round the globe said he should retire.

Dramatic?
Sometimes it's required like in the case of acting out King Lear or any other well written play.

You want drama?

-gotta have dramatic music for this

And lighten up everybody, there is room to discuss both sides of the coin in here

Well we don't know for 100% certainty, I'll agree with you on that, but comparing the turf/helmet contact after the Richardson touchdown and either of the Tua hits just on the video, I'll take my chances and punt that Richardson's is less severe

Kid banged his noggin hard in week 2. They determined he has a concussion. He is in the protocol.

Tua.....week 2 vs Buffalo last year got freaking rocked......looked like 3 sheets to the wind. Comes back into the game. Then plays that Thursday...get’s slammed to the ground and fenced fingers. SCARY. VISABLE.

That is why the media flipped last year.

No one saw AR dazed, stumbling etc.....does not mean it’s not serious....but visually no one saw anything. So I am trying to understand the point of the drama in here?

He will be out this week probably. And should be if he had a concussion. As far as his play style......it’s not conducive to a long career. The NFL is a very rough, physical league and mobile QB’s don’t last long if that is the main part of their game. It’s a tough gig.

All's I know is I fricken love him and his sky high ceiling. How many points can he score if he plays an entire game?!?
-Who's your backup cuz you know you need one?

Colts OC Jim Bob Cooter said the team does not plan to scale back QB Anthony Richardson’s rushing usage despite his Week 2 concussion.

Even after a Week 2 concussion, rushing will still be a part of Colts rookie Anthony Richardson’s toolset. “This league comes at you fast”, said Indianapolis’ offensive coordinator Jim Bob Cooter. Cooter explained that QB runs and scrambling will always be a part of Richardson’s game, but he needs to find way to limit risk on rushes. The big QB from Florida is the Colts’ franchise piece and his key rushing ability will stay a large part of his production.

That sure sounds like Richardson cannot make it as a QB if he can't run or is forced to use his arm more

"AIn't I a stinker?!"

That is what you take from that? I have been impressed with his passing ability and think that will continue to progress. However, why would a coach say anything other than that even if he decides to scale it back? The guy is a threat running the ball and you want to make sure defenses are aware of that.

The QB analyst for Reception Perception was interviewed today and when asked who jumped off the page as the most impressive passer in the first 2 weeks, he immediately named ARich. Noted that he liked him coming out of college, but thought he had a lot of issues to work on to become pro-ready. Film analysis showed that in all those areas - feet placement, timing of release, arm strength, and scanning the field - he has already vastly improved, and is already ranking in the upper half of QBs on the important passing metrics. Add to that his speed and size, and you have a very dangerous combination.

As predicted by Matt Waldman, it’s worth noting.

He saw all of ARich’s flaws as fixable, and with a relatively easy path to doing so.

I posted his blurb earlier in the topic. Cap tip to Matt. Looking like he nailed it.
