From a fantasy perspective this makes sense. He has by far the highest upside. Obviously he's no good to you if he's a bust - but I don't see Young or Stroud being very valuable from a fantasy perspective* so taking a risk v. reward perspective, Richardson should be the top choice.

*in 1QB leagues. In 2QB or superflex, getting an actual starting QB is more important so going the "safer" route there makes sense.

To be successful in the NFL, you need to be able to do the east tings well.

Since 2021, Anthony Richardson PFF grade for throws 0-9 yards downfield is 30.0.

That’s the lowest grade for that category of throws since PFF began grading college players in 2014 (9 seasons.)

I just rewatched the Ky / Florida game again to watch Levis and Richardson. The inaccuracy from Richardson was on full display, but it was earlier in the year. I noticed that AR threw 100 mph fastballs too much on the intermediate routes and when he was off target, he threw high. He didn't seem to have much touch on the throws 10 - 25 yard range. Did he improve that later? Levis looked better, but not great in that game, with the exception of getting killed a few times. He threw for 13/24 202 yards with 1 TD and 1 INT.

The short-term inaccuracy is definitely a big red flag, but have to think that can be improved with the right coaching regime/support. And I'm sure teams are thinking that as well.

Mahomes was 16-21 at Texas Tech.

He had a 56.8% completion % in 7 games (185 att) his first year at 19 years old.

I think Richardson is going to be 22 21 next month with 215 career attempts in college. Mahomes had 1359 attempts and a losing record. And he was the 10th pick in the draft, so let's not pretend any of us knows anything about anything. I am very much including myself in that statement.

IMO if Andy Reid coaches Richardson he will be a guaranteed , mortal lock future HoFer. Unfortunately Reid doesn't need him so his outcomes are entirely a crap shoot. And I put none of that on Richardson.

Real life was how I took it. Said he’s not raw, just inexperienced but if you watch him over the course of each game and over the season, you can see him learning quickly.

That’s fair. My opinion will be adjusted once we see where he goes. I wish I trusted my titans to coach up a QB.

Yeah, this guy hasn’t even turned 21 yet. Can’t even buy a beer. He’s nowhere near a finished product so if you pair him with a good organization and coaches that can actually develop a quarterback, he might end up being really special.

Personally I don’t think real life teams are high enough on him. I’d be fighting for a chance to get him at #2 behind Bryce Young and it seems like he might actually slide out of the top 10. Crazy to me.

Most college quarterbacks fail in the NFL. That’s just the way it is. Might as well start the process with the most physically gifted to ever enter the league at the position. And he seems like a good kid to from what I’ve heard. Which admittedly is not a ton, but still. Think some teams may be playing coy, just have a hard time believing he doesn’t go top 5. I mean, maybe even Houston at 2. I’m wondering if maybe they haven’t settled on him as the QB2 in this draft and are leaking the defensive player at 2 stuff to try to get in a better position to snag him if they think he’ll be there at say 6 or 7. Trade down, get some extra picks, and either be in position to draft ARich or trade back up from 12. That seems plausible at least, would fit the recent reports of what they want to do. Just no mention of ARich of course.

All true but if they really like him, the colts at 4 and titans possibly moving up are reason enough to not mess around and just take the guy.

I am warming to the idea of ARich, but landing spot will be significant to me.

Not just for his chance to start, but organizationally - like, I don’t want him if he’s a Raider. I don’t trust Josh McDaniels to mentor a young passer, and I’m pretty sure JimmyG won’t be thrilled with that prospect either after what he went through in SF with Lance.

With the athletic guys, you have to make it clear that they are also skilled in the art of playing QB, because it is human nature for us to assume because a guy can jump over a car, that he cannot read a defense.

I’ve heard mentioned before that a huge strength of his is pocket awareness. His sack when pressured rate is the lowest of any draftable QB the last 2 years. You might imagine a young athletic QB being wild in the pocket, running himself out of position, etc. That’s not AR. He’s very posies and under control in the pocket. Or so draftniks like Waldman, Solak, Norris say.

He should have, obviously in hindsight.
But we need to look forward. The way some people talk about AR while minimizing the things he hasn’t shown would make him worthy of the 1 IF they truly believe it (really only if Carolina believes it)
Fwiw. The panthers are one of the teams where I’d bump him up even if he hadn’t Gone 1 overall. Seattle, Detroit, and Tampa too (although dropping to Tampa would be a concern in itself)

I think decision-making is a fair criticism. He has more dangerous throws than the other top guys. So is that inexperience, or will he never develop that part of his game. Some guys don't.

Waldman says you can see in games he makes a dangerous throw into a certain coverage and then when that look comes up next time, he makes the smart play. Just isn’t always putting the ball on the money.

So much conflicting info. I get everyone has sources but those sources often don’t really know what’s going on. Could be an area scout who wrote a glowing report and got good feedback on it from scouting director. That doesn’t mean it’s the way the GM will go. There’s other scouts, coaches, owners, etc

That's his thread. His Irsay quote about Jalen Hurts was super interesting. If Irsay wants the next Jalen, he's probably getting him.
