QB Cam Ward, TEN (1 Viewer)

A lot of really nice quotes from Falcons and fans
This is pretty cool.
Other than Marcus, we've never had this

They had clearly scripted plays like "throw it to him" and it was ugly and I just didn't like it. I'm sure they wanted to find out if this WR or that one can cut it but...it's was bad design and the Falcons clearly knew it.

When they didn't do that. He looked like a pretty rookie. Some questionable throws but ya see the talent.
It's gonna be a little rough while he learns but he's oozing with talent.

He made a bad throw to Van Jefferson about three yards out of bounds. He was scrambling and then kind of slowing to a walk and just flicked it. It was so effortless looking and went 50-60 yards.

You mentioned this in the other thread as well. Are you talking about the pass that Jefferson had the whole palm of his hand on?

It was the play before that.
I can't recall the yardage on the drop in a didn't stand out way. 20?

One note about these preseason stats - neither Ridley nor Chig was out there.

I’m taking all of this with a big preseason grain of salt. Sure, I’d like to see more from Cam, but I’m also not going to judge purely off of practice reports and a handful of preseason snaps with a makeshift offense.

40ish seconds in

Cam Ward completed 2-of-7 passes for 42 yards in the Titans’ preseason Week 2 game against the Falcons.

Ward played three drives in this one, and his arm strength was evident despite the lackluster results. Among the Titans’ expected Week 1 receiving corps, only Chig Okonkwo and Van Jefferson Jr. joined Ward on the field. Neither player earned a target. Ward instead focused on honing his connection with fellow rookie, WR Elic Ayomanor, who caught 2-of-4 targets thrown to him by Ward for 37 yards. Ayomanor is unlikely to be re-draft-relevant this year but he should be rostered in dynasty.

There's been a good amount of negativity about Cam or about his usage since the game

I told ya I saw it as predetermining the first so many passes and where they'd go. He barely played a sincere offense. Several of the QB gurus and film reviewers thought similar to me. He's not looking around and there just isn't many things to guess when a kid suddenly is staring for 7-8 snaps. It was a quarter but because the Falcons had the ball often due to a pick six. It's dramatic if ya call it a quarter but 7-8 passes where pressure is all over the WR to test em...whatever. I didn't like it but it's still a small number.
Van was a lock before the game and questionable after. Was it a wrong bad plan then?

They had two days of practice against the Falcons and starters weren't playing much in preseason.
Ridley does not need reps against second stringers. He battled Terrell for two days.
The Falcons have a yuck media policy that only allows 90seconds of video per day. People didn't see Ridley and ...he got work in.

Cam has been taking first and second team snaps since Levis went out. He likely has the most reps of any QB in the league this summer.

When people say Cam can't make a type of throw, I don't care to even wonder on it. The dude can sling it everywhere and does this sidearm thing too and...I couldn't have less doubt that if there's a throw "he can't make" that give him a few reps and he makes it. He's abnormal in the blessed way. He'll have decision issues, read issues and all sorts that rookies have but there's no way ya watch him and have any concern he can't throw it to a spot a certain way.

Tough on Restrepo.
It's just life and it's tough. Sorry there's no other take than has been said over n over. It will be sad for Cam's personal life if his college buddy is no longer on the team but...just life. We don't keep in touch with everyone from high school or everyone from college. I'd guess those two stay close friends regardless if he's cut. They have a super strong bond. The staff loves Restrepo.
Playing with the fours has always been a sign a guy isn't making the 53.
He still could. I've discussed PS with him. But Ward doesn't need a caddy. It's just tough

Cam and Simmons have been playfully jawing at each other since spring.
Apparently today he said too much or crossed a line.
The PR department escorted Simmons to the locker room per PK tweet.

Simmons would later post that they're fine and they're bros. They went fishing together two weeks ago and ...idk I don't think it's anything.

Simmons called it a non issue that reporters made a big deal of.
Callahan said ya don't touch the QB but he shouldn't get involved in the fray either.
He also wasn't concerned at all

He finished preseason only 10 of 19 but no one cares.
Any time he got nervous he then got comfortable.
Any time he made a mistake, he fixed it.

It's been a long long time since I noticed someone so immediate with the mental adjustments.

He was only sacked once

Two sets of reps all summer (Levis') seems to have been great for him.

QB gurus about vomit critiquing his form on some adlib plays but at the same time, oooh he just flicks his wrist like it's nothing.

I don't want that fixed unless he remains comfortable. The Titans "fixing" a guy able to throw it 50 yards effortlessly does not seem the same as Bill Walsh fixing Steve Young. Maybe ya leave that alone

"Ev er y time"
Leader Cam has clearly been enunciating every time and wanting the best from his teammates.
I think this is going to become a catchphrase and we may even see guys subbed in because of it.
Just guessing. I like it. Interesting from the couch

Expectations are very low for week one. Some even saying I don't care how he does. Let's just see him play.

I only care that he stays healthy and keeps that great attitude.
