Dan Le Batard Show with Stugotz
"Cam Ward is the best quarterback this program has ever had... What I'm saying is I have never seen a quarterback be this much better than all the other quarterbacks who are playing football. He can score against anybody."
We react to Cam Ward's historic start as the University of Miami's quarterback.

As someone old enough to have seen (and covered) Vinny Testaverde, 100% with the idea of Cam Ward being the QB that UM has ever had. Dude is special. Combines the best traits of Testaverde and Ken Dorsey.
Do you watch him? Exciting every weekSo many words.
I think the awkward punctuation makes it difficult to read? Almost like you're an AI bot.Do you watch him? Exciting every weekSo many words.
-Best Miami QB perhaps ever but definitely since Testeverde
Cam has a stronger arm and is more athletic than all of them with less talent around him
Miami is not likely to have multiple 1st Round draft picks
Better summary?

He looks crazy calm to me. Like, too calm. But, the numbers don't lie. He's a smooth operator.

#Miami QB Cam Ward vs. Florida St.
FSU had one of the better coverage gameplans so far vs. Miami. Good mixture of Cov. 2 man and Cov. 1. Miami WRs/TEs struggled to win vs. man all game. They played the odds and forced Ward to be perfect with his placement against man coverage.
The most promising sign from Ward is that he didn’t get impatient and avoided the miraculous heroic throws outside the structure of the offense. Scrambled to run or simply threw it away when nothing was there. The run game was great and Miami leaned on that in this matchup.
Intriguing statement, what are some of things you see that make you feel that way?I like him a lot better than I liked Caleb. A lot more.
He has to clean up the across his body, across the field BS.And an awfully dumb interception.
Kid from Syracuse looks pretty good tooHe looks like an NFL QB.
Granted, nobody ever really gets near him.

I appreciate that Cam Ward, in this day and age in CFB, played at all. But I just can’t imagine starting any game with teammates, especially as a quarterback, and electing to pull myself out while my teammates are still trying to finish the job in a back-and-forth battle.
I’m a realist. I know the climate. I’m not even knocking Cam here. It’s just different.

Same people criticizing Cam Ward for sitting out the 2nd half of the Pop Tarts Bowl, would be saying how dumb it was for him to play if he got hurt. He didn’t have to play AT ALL. Instead he gave us a half of jaw dropping plays. Stop villainizing these student athletes.

Cam Ward has a ton of raw talent on film.
But he’ll need to be paired with the right coach to put it all together consistently in the NFL
This is a great anticipatory throw through a tight 2-man window…
It’s clear he has a natural ability to throw the football. He’ll need to get rid of a ton of lazy habits that he’s developed. Which is why you hope he can get paired with a good QB developer.
Perhaps Brian Daboll is the man for that job?
I hope I’m wrong about him, I’m just not seeing franchise QB here.
I think with many young QBs, who they land with to coach and support them at the next level will make the difference. Ward has enough physical tools to succeed, who supports him and what he has between the ears will determine his long term success. I agree on paper that he is not a given to succeed in comparison to other top QBs drafted in previous years. It will be interesting to see how what TEN does at the top of draft and QB being a top need.I hope I’m wrong about him, I’m just not seeing franchise QB here.
Giants drafted six so they did not have a shot at Daniels/Maye without trading up. They did pass on Penix, McCarthy, and Nix however. I agree with your thoughts on this years strategy. You dig the hole deeper by reaching. That franchise is in a rough spot to turnaround as they have so many needs. Taking a young questionable QB early without a decent oline is a recipe for continued disaster.Let's say Ward and Sanders fall to the Giants at #3, or just one, I'm thinking their best move would be to take BPA at #3, sign one of top veteran QBs, then draft a developmental QB at #34. The reason I say this is that you could have a situation where if neither the Titans and the Browns feel the top two QBs in this draft aren't worthy of those top two picks and the Giants may feel that way too. They took Nabetrs last year over Daniels and Maye and some may feel they might reach this year beause they passed on those two last year, but they could feel that neither Ward or Sanders are anywhere near Daniels or Maye in value. That's why I say take BPA at #3, sign a veteran QB, and see if they can work with a developmental QB at #34. They could probably get someone like a Jaxon Dart or Jalen Milroe. Thoughts?
You are correct that the Giants didn't have a shot at Daniels or Maye last year when they took Nabers at #6. I didn't mean for that to confuse my post and cause its meaning to be lost, which the point is whether they think Ward or Sanders is worth the #3 pick, so I edited my post to remove the confusion.
