QB Cam Ward, TEN (3 Viewers)

It's so ridiculous and negative how little fanfare Ward has received. It's definitely the least I've ever noticed of a top pick or top pick QB.

I've heard lots of reasons and they all seem like junk to me.

He's such a a good kid. He had a number of quotes anyone could have easily gushed over too.

He should have got his flowers. An absolute ton of rookie QBs have stunk year one. I bet there will be no shortage of news stories and tweets if he falters.

I would have a lot of fun if he was a guy that kept a chip on his shoulder and reminded people when they doubted him or didn't do this n that. He doesn't seem to be that way at all which is like yet another reason to like this kid.

It's really been surprising

I do not disagree, but I think the lack of fanfare had more to do with the weakness of the QB class as a whole along with the fact that TEN really did not have a lot of visible options at the position and needed a QB (the Levis injury certainly added to this need). I think the lack of upper-tier prospects at the position watered down the excitement of Ward a little as some thought based on their room they were forced to make him their pick (versus having some options to choose from). Just a thought…

I mostly agree. I think a big part of it is landing spot too. There is just nothing going on in that organization to get excited about, and it's hard to envision them becoming a prolific offense. I think he's a pretty good bargain at his current asking price.

There's been several typical videos lately. Not much new.

One thing I love about him is when he throws an INT, he runs to the defender to ask him what he saw.

Callahan explained that he wanted him to be open and honest and he has been. They have a good rapport going learning what plays and throws he does or doesn't like

Right now Ward is only projected for 13 points week one and it seems to be gaining steam as a bet.
They play Denver, a very good defense

His stats have been fine thru two days. He has a few INTs (one last ditch play) but no one seems to care.
After Malik and Levis, I guess that's something.

His type ridiculous athleticism is getting more common in the NFL but it's still kinda wow sometimes when he just flicks it and the ball goes so far.

Ward's getting some love now.
Probably all over national media later and tomorrow
He made some big throws and avoided pass rush and then posed with babies and signed autographs. Star treatment

Theres a special on Tubi about his upbringing and not being a highly recruited athlete. It's named zero star
It’s fantastic.
Thank you sir. Grateful for the info. That's why this is my only choice among FF forums.
His story is remarkable. I traded Tee Higgins + a 2026 2nd to get pick 1.02 in a 12-team SF where I’m stacked everywhere but QB. (The team with 1.02 & 1.03 traded me on the condition I wouldn’t take Hampton).

Collusion!! :tinfoilhat:

I hope he felt all that. It seems like he finally had his moments.
He's been a textbook gem 1.01 QB so far.
(No games, yep and he might not be all that great. We'll see)
Leadership, 5 am arrival at the facility, long hours of film review and VR, ...on and on and on just great.

Bad day for Ward and great attitude.
He threw behind often and was late with many reads.
Consistently reacting to every mistake. It's on me, running to talk to someone then running back, over n over that great mindset was showing through

#Titans Brian Callahan: We've done quite a bit more earlier in camp from a 3rd down perspective. Dennard Wilson's defense is going to put Ward in some really hard spots. That's by design.

Cody Barton is supposedly a very good LB against the pass. He's intercepted Ward three times and tipped several.
For now, I like that Ward plays like he's gotta do what he's gotta do. Ya can't play this game scared.

He's been running over to Lockett and Ridley on the sidelines after some plays. Remember it was the defense after INTs?
I really like hearing this. Everyone else just lines up again. It's a good different

He's having a pretty tough day today but he's still making plays in between. A lot of good highlights

Greg Cosell impressed by Titans throwing the book at Cam Ward. Said teams don't always do that anymore.
He likes how he's responded and it looks like a very normal progression.
He noticed the timing and rhythm today. The pressure wasn't as much the defense but the offensive coaching staff and how they called it.

hoping he improves his pass coverage. he was ranked 111/189 in PFF grades last year.

@Titans
QB Cam Ward spending extra time throwing with receivers Elic Ayomanor,
Tyler Lockett and Xavier Restrepo after practice.

Ward talked of Restrepo up to speed on the offensive terminology and helping him as they learned together.

He said the offense is very mid and it (blame) starts with him

Really?
It's come up a whole lot this offseason and all sorts of names praise the guy. Is he no good in zone or man and great at the other? Trying to rationalize the difference

not exactly sure. I got him as my LB5 (start 3) in a FA auction for a dynasty league I took over an orphaned team. Then I started finding more info about him.

DLF excerpt: "The fact that Cody Barton remains a fantasy-viable option in 2025 defies logic. He’s a reliable tackler and demonstrated significant improvement in run defense last year, but he’s a liability in coverage and should probably not be a starting option. Yet, here we are once again, with the veteran in position to lead his team in snaps at linebacker... "

excerpt from an article on footballguys in April: "Barton did earn career-best Pro Football Focus grades for total defense, run defense, and tackling last year. But among 100 LBs who played at least 200 snaps, Barton ranked just 52nd in overall grade and 71st in coverage grade."

Now, I have been seeing the fluff pieces about him doing well this offseason, in this thread and in other places. so, I am hopeful he is improving. I don't need him until bye weeks, or if injuries hit since I have 3 clearly better LBs that I'll be starting every week over him.

Ward last three days- has no sense of timing, a bit off, nice rhythm today.

Very quick progression while a talented DC is urged to test him and throw the book at him. I couldn't be more ok with the mistakes.

The speed at which he learns really makes my mind wander. That is definitely a quality of the best quarterbacks when they were rookies.

4-5 bad practices in a row had reporters calling a two INT practice a good one.

How fast he processes and how he doesn't make the same mistake twice is almost getting tired.

The offense is running after practice.
The RT is saying the HC shouldn't be the only one upset.

Drops and bad routes

"A bunch of losers" is a generally evil phrase in our society but when you're changing a culture to winning and being in new talent and wanting change- the phrase rears its head in an almost proper way. They ARE used to losing and they do need to improve habits.

Ward hasn't been staying late throwing lately but going to watch film and the number of guys with him keeps increasing.

Ridley has been his best bud lately but he had a bad day with a drop and wrong routes and Ward got on him.

I think we're amidst a very very important stage in the team's development.

Ward has a big opportunity to be the leader right now and the others can jump on board or be cast off the ship. These bad times probably needed to happen but there's some probability that good is coming soon too

One scout's review of Titans practices involved Ward still having a lot of the same problems as in college and he can see the Titans staff are all over them and some good coaching going on.

His biggest issue he has was a lack of pocket awareness in front of him. He said all these Jeffrey Simmons sacks, most of them Ward steps right into. His eyes catch anyone around the Ts and he moves well, but he doesn't see the interior rush. Simmons being so vocal and all their back n forth may help Ward a lot.

He saw a lot of anxious routes and WRs and TEs not finishing the routes properly. Once they got to the depth offenses it was obvious. They're performing better possibly just because they can have timing and rhythm. It's definitely not on Cam when they do that. He opined that the UDFAs are getting open more because they are doing the last cut. Come to a point, stop, turn, and not ending their route by cheating diagonally. The depth guys just do things right and hope to get noticed.

As I’ve said previously in here, if he fails in the NFL, it will not be for lack of effort. Dude is the hardest working player I’ve ever seen besides Jerry Rice.
He's a lot of great things.
I'm starting to wonder if some relative or BFF doesn't need to tell him to take some time for himself.

5am to 7-9pm at the facility is absurd and then when ya add whatever Instagram post of him doing something with teammates...burnt out is a thing.

He's taken it upon himself to meet Jeff Fisher, Jon Robinson, Ran Carthon, and Coach Mac and just says something like- I want to meet anyone that loves football and especially that were involved with the Titans. I think it's very cool that none of them will talk about it too other than a "he's a nice guy" "he's a nice kid."

I love him. Definite man crush. Every time someone talks about him he's got some extra time commitment he's done and...OMG kid, relax, you're gonna burn out.

I can't get over how even keel he is. I want to see it in games although I have doubts about how much he'll play in preseason. He's like zen or meditation type or...idk how to word it. He gets upset. He gets all happy. It's like if you snapped your fingers boom he's back to even keel calmness. Some of the reporters are taking videos of him just kind of watching this.

I don't care I don't care I don't care if they win a lot or if he is great as a rookie. He's like a freshman in highschool as far as I'm concerned. Learn, grow, mature, maybe he'll have moments.

Ward 💯 makes me think Levis was an awful pick and reaffirms my thinking that Willis as a third is the most for a development QB.

Levis did not have "it" and with the star position and face of the franchise then you better not draft a QB highly unless they have that it quality.

Levis is nice as can be and a clear good guy and a hard worker too. I don't have any issues with him as a person. He's a good dude. "Life" just didn't make him a star. I think if he was a third round pick of later, then the chips fall correctly as they should.

I've long thought similar about many QBs since Mariota and Jameis and Cam at least. It's not exclusive to Levis. Teams should have this standard and be OK with missing out on a QB that doesn't have that IT quality. It's not comfortable when they're over drafted and second guesses come out and leadership issues develop. Just skip it the way us FF guys let others draft players we don't want for quirky reasons. Be ok with the consequences and move on.

They didn't do it but..after Dak, for a year or two, I thought NFL GMs talked like they finally had everything in proper context and could be using FBGs draft value chart (😉)and QBs would be drafted with some good order to them. It's a shame.

Every off-season is full of hope but ya can't expect that from all 53 that's too lofty. I don't think a team is better off with some young QB throwing dopey INTs and getting sacked often than some random veteran.

What if the Titans drafted any second round pick and Mason Rudolph was their QB the last couple years or they overpaid Tannehill?

Ramble ramble...I swear IT factor in first or wait til at least the third round

Titans brought back Quandre Diggs. They're not really hurting for safety depth but the veteran is Cam Ward's cousin.

Sure it could be towards defensive help but I think it's also a simple creative way to help Cam.

Quandre Diggs on Cam Ward: “I’ve picked off a lot of No. 1 picks. His time will come too (in practice)”

🤣 Cousins

Unclear how much Ward will play tomorrow but Callahan said he'll play enough this preseason that he's ready week one.

In his first pass against Bucs he threw an INT to Reddick. Bucs fans went nuts, players jumping and cheering on the sideline. A few reporters said it hit them that they have an actual QB with expectations. It hasn't been a notable feat to get an INT from a Titans QB in a long time.

Cam didn't let it affect him. Looked himself and had good support from teammates

Ward not getting involved in the skirmishes earlier today but he threw a football and aimed at red jerseys 🤣

Cam Ward completed 5-of-8 passes for 67 yards in the Titans’ preseason Week 1 game against the Buccaneers.

The first-team offense’s best play was likely Ward’s 27-yard connection with Calvin Ridley. Ward stood tall in the pocket, progressed through his reads and found Ridley wide open in the middle of the field. It’s a good start for the rookie. He added nothing on the ground, though, limiting his fantasy-scoring upside.

"We have a lot of things we're still working on. I thought it was a good start for him, encouraging. It was productive, but there's a couple of things we're going to keep grinding on."

He also said Cam did well but certainly hasn't arrived yet.

After a bad day yesterday, Cam had a speech and the pic shows them kneeling or sitting (can't tell but lower than him standing) and...well I just don't know that I've ever seen that.

Radio said coach probably talked then he said he had something to say.

Todays practice was better but if they were worse in the league yesterday then today was middle of the pack. Very much outclassed by Falcons.

In the past, Ward has said Ridley is the best WR and they're the best team and he's always so over the top exaggerated it's just kinda fun. He said he thinks they'll have a top ten offense and idk how to take that.

He threw one away today that didn't get there and was picked off. Dopey. Compared to Levis by some. Bad play.

He had two not good days and the Falcons are saying he's got IT and bright future and every cliche. That's very different than bad days with prior Titans QBs
