QB Jameis Winston, NYG (4 Viewers)

There's nothing wrong with going with Flacco. The matchup is right (home start vs a bad/banged up pass D) and he should be safe for at least a TD pass and 275 yards. If you're fine with that line and a chance for a little more then put him in. He's only thrown for more than 2 TD's once (3) though since the start of last year (14 starts, 18 TD passes), so there doesn't seem to be much upside at all with him in that offense at the moment.

I'd rather roll with Winston and cross my fingers for a 3 or 4 TD game on Monday night, but I can understand going with Flacco especially if in need of a win.

I agree with this.  I am going with the Winston/Evans combo.  I like having that for Monday night.  He could flame out and just 10 or he could go for 400+.  At least it will make the game interesting for me.

Not only do I feel comfortable with Winston this week but I'm also starting Evans and brate with him in the same league.

Did I mention that I have no other choices?   Lol
Same boat. You would think the coaches on the offence would pay attention to what Atlanta did in their passing game...

handing the ball to jaquizz rodgers wont win them the game.  TB defense is not gonna win them the game.

Jameis throwing for 300+ and multiple TDs can win them the game

Tampa's passing offense is basically the only healthy unit from both teams in this game.  If you have to rely on someone to produce Jameis would be the guy.

What are the chances that Winston, Evans, and brate combine for 90 Pts in a standard league tonight where passing tds are 5 Pts?  BC that's what I would need to win lol

40 Pts from Winston.  400 tds passing = 20 pts.  4 tds = 20 pts.  Check!

30 Pts from Evans - 180 yards rec = 18 Pts, 2 tds= 12 ps.

20 Pts from brate - 80 yards rec + 2 tds.

Hear me o' fantasy gds!

Well I would think that 400 tds would be worth a little more than 20 points...

@pff Bucs QB Jameis Winston was blitzed 7 times vs. Carolina. He was 4-of-5 for 60 yards, 1 TD, 0 INT, 2 sacks and a near-perfect 156.3 QB rating.

Schedule gets way easier from here. Hopefully out of the woods.

He's my starter from here on out.  Crossing fingers....
I'd feel pretty confident starting him going forward. This was the tough part of the schedule. Look at the next 4 matchups after the bye and then his playoff schedule... KC and SEA look like the only bad matchups for the rest of the year. Should be some big games ahead for Winston.

You may not want to start him this week.  :D

I think I'm going to have to drop him this week.  I have him and the Vikings defense on bye and I'm not going to drop the Vikings right now.  I have a better chance of picking Winston back up than I do that defense.

I have the same problem.  I also have to keep rudolph.  Going to have to drop 3 good players.  I'm not risking dropping jameis and then having to start Alex smith ros.  There is nothing on my ww for qb

My plan is to drop him right before the games start on Sunday which will cost me $1.  Then once Flacco is done playing I can drop for Winston which would cost me $5. At least I think that's my plan.

Yeah everything locks in my league.  I used to be able to do stuff like that, but no longer

Dropping and risking not having him against NO weeks 14 and 16 is dangerous business...

Yep. I have Stafford and dropped Winston a week or so back to fill in for TE trouble. Winston was picked up like a blind squirrel finding a nut, by an owner that already has 2 QBs on his roster. Sitting tight and hoping the owner re-drops him at some point thus week due to the bye.

Just traded Lat Murray and Moncrief for Winston. I've had terrible QB play all year trying to stream so I wanted to make a move. May have been a little much, but I had no need at all for Murray as I am stacked at RB, and while losing Moncrief hurts, he was really only depth for me (have Evans, Hopkins, Pryor) and I should be able get a decent replacement off of waivers.

I've got Tyrod for Jameis' bye which is good since he is facing SF, but looking ahead I actually might even start him again in week 7 with a probably even better matchup vs. MIA.

That's legal in your league?
We can drop and add any time for the most part.  There are no waivers.  Any transaction after kickoff on Sunday is $5, Mondays are $4, Tuesdays are $3, Wednesdays are $2, Thursday up till kickoff on Sunday they are $1.  If I guy goes off in the first half of a game anyone can pick him up on the spot.  He won't be playable until the following week of course.

Who's playing jameis vs sf?

I streamed smith @ oak last week.  Ugh.

Don't think I can go with smith again even though that matchup is amazing

Even though this seems like a good matchup on paper I don't like him against SF.

It's easy to see based on week 5 that his coach has lost confidence in him and wants to keep him from airing it out when possible to limit mistakes.

Sf offense simply isn't very good and doesn't put up points.  Couple that with their piss poor run d and I see more of the same from week 5.  Pound the ball all day with whoever the rb is and limit Winston.

The game script doesn't lend itself to a big fantasy day for him IMO.

I feel confident starting him in weeks where he's facing a great offense.  In those weeks the coaching staff will have no choice but to take the training wheels off and let him sling it.

Good post.  Wonder is martin comes back.  Even If he does, rodgers is gonna alot of carries

This is my same exact situation. Right now I am leaning Winston but Smith might actually have to throw it this time.

Junk. Dropped him for Bradford as my QB2. Then again my QB1 Bortles hasn't been great either.
Wow, I think dropping him in general is very bold, but for Bradford? Really? I'm guessing you haven't paid much attention as to who Jameis has played so far and the ROS schedule.

Anyways, I am on the fence about starting Jameis this week. As rickyg stated, I am worried the Bucs will want to pound the rock all game similar to Carolina and the 49ers run D is horrendous so I could see it working and the game turning into a blowout. On the other hand, I don't trust the Bucs D at all and I could see them having trouble stopping Kap, with the game turning into a shootout.

I also have Tyrod who has a good matchup against the Dolphins so I'll be giving this one a good thought throughout the week.

To clarify my position on Winston, I'm definitely not dropping.  I think his schedule moving forward has some choice matchups where he will have to put the team on his back and throw to keep up.  I'm especially eyeing those 2 matchups vs NO weeks 14 and 16.  I think he can win you a championship with those matchups and is worth holding just for that.

If he isn't benched for Glennon by then. ; )

It's also worth noting that the Bucs defense is very bad, especially the pass defense. I don't think there will be many games where we'll be dominating the opponent and be allowed to just run the clock out. Possibly SF and CHI, but that is about it and I could definitely see either of those teams putting up points against our defense. Games like ATL, SD, OAK, NO (twice) will all probably be shootouts against bad defenses.

Targets are running thin:

Vincent Jackson - WR - Buccaneers

Bucs placed WR Vincent Jackson on injured reserve with a torn left ACL, ending his season.
Jackson suffered the injury in Tampa's Week 5 Monday night win over the Panthers, but didn't realize he was injured until after the game. It ends an inglorious year for the 33-year-old wideout, and likely his Bucs tenure. Signed to a five-year, $55.5 million deal in 2012, Jackson was the rare free agent who kept playing at a high level, but has seen his production fall off each of the past three years. He turns 34 in January, and will be damaged goods in free agency. The Bucs will move forward with slot man Adam Humphries as their No. 2 receiver. It's not a good situation.

Drafted him as my only QB in a 16-team league. I'm not bailing, but I am starting to think about who to pair him with ROS. Used Siemian during the bye, but Mariota, Hoyer, Kaep and Keenum still out there on WW. Also thinking about Jameis' two remaining tough match-ups in Weeks 11-12 (@KC/Sea). Mariota has decent match-ups those weeks (@Ind/@Chi). Keenum has great ones (Mia/@NO), but I don't know if I really trust him. Hoyer has @NYG/Tenn.

Will probably put in a claim for Mariota/Hoyer, in that order. Good news is Jameis should have an opportunity to bounce back the next couple weeks, so I'm not in a huge rush.

As a Bucs homer, how nervous did the Carolina game make you? Not so much for the performance as for Dirk going so conservative and not trusting Jameis to make a play. I mean, 30 carries for Jacquizz Freakin' Rodgers?
