QB Jameis Winston, NYG (4 Viewers)

There is this FBG writer I was following on twitter, Cian Fahey, who is obsessed with crapping on Jameis. (unfollowed him and quite a few others during political season).  Well, someone retweeted a tweet of his comparing Jameis to Mariota during the first half.

Marcus Mariota and Jameis Winston's careers are going in different directions. Very different directions.

I understand these guys will be compared for the rest of their lives, but these are different teams.  Jameis has had a pretty poor run game, and the offensive line are in different stratospheres.  Besides all that, it's just ridiculous to immediately go to your Jameis/Mariota comparisons after a half of football.  I then looked at Jameis name when it was trending before the scramble play, and there were tons of people in the twitter verse claiming victory in the Winston / Mariota war.  Or, whatever they think it is...  People are just itching to say "I told you so 3 years ago."  :Lmao:. What a loser mentality!

I don't know who that guy is or what he's talking about but they were both very good yesterday. And PFF still had Winston with the better grade.

I would avoid kc.... Justin Houston is coming back this week too.

Streaming Tyrod this week over Winston.

Has winston ever had a big game against a good defense on the road?  serious question.  it hasn't happened  this year.  only good def he has played on road was car and arz.  arz was a disaster and car they ran the ball like crazy

I just picked up taylor to do the same.  still trying to decide though.  Taylor will def play over winston next week, vs sea, but this week they look like similar plays.  Taylor has a better floor but winston the higher ceiling.  but kc at home can smother qbs.  thinking winstons floor is dangerously low.  like too low to start

So I noticed that Cousins was back on my wire and was surprised at how well he's scoring lately.  Went ahead and dumped Palmer for him and will play him vs. GB this week.  He also has CAR at home week 15 which was really the only reason I had been holding Palmer (home vs. NO)

I've been rolling with Winston and it's been fine but not sure this weekend.  Mariota is available and I think I should start him with hot he's been.

Might want to check the inactives on TB'a offensive line. If Hawley and Pamphile are back Winston will probably get you 250+ 2 TDs/1int. If not he might be running for his life all day.

Benching Jameis for Tyrod this week too. Jameis is not matchup proof yet and KC's defense is legit, especially at home. If Justin Houston is back this week, I'm legitimately concerned for Jameis' health. The Bucs OT's have been horrendous the past few weeks.

Also, CIN gives up a lot of points to QB's and Tyrod has been pretty hot recently. Bills coming off a bye and CIN being on a short week should only help the cause too.

In one league I'm benching him for Stafford. In the other I'm playing him over Tyrod.

I just don't trust Tyrod enough to start him, and Winston has been putting up points recently.

5 Philly game?? They were good just put in a terrible system

Decided on winston over stafford vs jax, as jax is sneaky tough on opposing qbs.  I feel like winston has better blowup potential.

That Eagles' defense was not good in any way.
Abs with more than 2 passing TDs against them last year

Winston 5
Stafford 5
Cousins 4
Brady 3
Cassels 3

Started out ok but stunk up the joint after the TB game. The Cassels game was the only one before the stink

Did Philly add any significant players in the off season? or was it the Coach/System change this year

For those considering picking up Colin to start over Jameis this week...

Weather doesn't look to be any issue in KC.  But it will be in SF.   That's if you consider rain a factor.

Also, and more importantly, KC's secondary is banged up.  You might want to see who exactly ends up starting for the Chiefs.

And btw, Winston has won 3 of 4 on the road.  Not something I give much credence to necessarily, but it doesn't hurt.

I've decided to stand pat.

It's certainly a tangent from this thread, but yes the system completely changed.  They brought in an infinitely better coordinator, switched from a 3-4 to a 4-3 which suited most of the personnel much better, changed much of the secondary (though the cbs are still a problem), and got their starting middle linebacker back from injury.

I think that's a mistake. Stafford at home has been almost matchup proof while I see a very low floor possibility for Winston.

Fantasy wise I agree. However he's a difficult watch as a quarterback cuz he leaves a lot out on the field. I see opportunities to run that he does not take and he force-feeds Evans a little too much to the detriment of the rest of the team. When you are as one-dimensional in the passing game as they tend to be, you can see it getting shut down and that makes me back away from him a bit.

Matchup proof at home?  Let's have a look:  Week 2 ten at home 20 pts...barely top 12.  Week 5 philly at home 24.60.  nothing special in my league.  Average qb1.  Week 6 at home vs LA he was studly.  Week 7 at home vs Wash was average.  So 3 average home games that didn't win me or lose me my matchups and one studly.  I'd hardly call that matchup proof.  He's been a better NFL qb than fantasy qb most of this season.

so far so good on benching stafford for winston...frustrating that winston has not TDs though.  Evans dropped one.  has a chance at decent day if he can throw one.

Yep, I did the same and want to do the same again next week, but I'm not sure I will.

Jameis looked great today. The fumble was pretty fluky as it kind of just slipped out of his hands, but other than that he was great.
Want to see the sea def this week.  but with woods out the anemic buffalo Bills passing game is not playable.  would rather go down fighting with jameis.

Winston and Mariota both trending above their very high expectations at this point, IMO. I'd guess both franchises are very happy.

I'd say so.  I wonder what it would be like had it gone differently?  I think both players ended up in great situations for their particular skill set.
