Not a .500 team? Not sure about that one.I have LaPorta and Gibbs on my FF teams, and Monty on another so I watch the Lions as much as I can. If Goff went down instead of Hutch they would not be a 500 team. Is Goff a great QB? No, Goff is a very good QB..but he is great at what he is doing in Detroit system that's for sure. They are like 29-6 in the last 35 games.I wonder what Detroits record would be without Goff this year and last year…
Plus he has the locker room, the team loves him. In the NFL that is huge.

It's possible Hooker is as good as Goff, just in different ways. Since the names Mahomes, Jackson, Allen, and Burrow were thrown out:Agreed. Not very many elite QBs. The fact there's only a few high-end QBs means the NFL has a real problem with being too loose with their money when it comes to QBs. I'm sure lots of teams would like a do-over. It's an especially tough lesson to learn.Goff is a good enough QB to win a SB. And he’s young. Besides Mahomes, Jackson, Allen, Burrow - who can you say that about with certainty? Dak - no. Tua - no. Lawrence - no. Murray - not for me. Carr - no. Herbert - I believe so but not proven. Love - still questions. Stroud - question mark. Daniels - too early but probable. Jones - he’ll no. Cousins - old. Stafford - old. Rodgers - old. Then a stream of journeymen. Smith, Darnold, Most of the rookie saviors have been disasters. Bryce, Caleb. Nix may turn out better than all of them but still a question mark. All that being said - teams can win with Goff. That’s all that matters. He’s not holding any team back. Not perfect - but he’s deserving of getting paid. Not top 4 money but some slot right after that. Certainly ahead of Lawrence
Goff's detractors will say he's being propped up by surrounding talent. If Holmes is right, they saved a little money, but big downside if he's wrong. The curious thing is they have a good QB prospect waiting in the wings which makes the decision to pay Goff that much more interesting. Could be a big topic of conversation this offseason depending on how the playoffs go.
Goff's total contract value is $212 mil, good for 13th among QBs.
His average annual contract value is $53 mil, 6th among QBs.
His average value as a percentage of total cap space is 20.75% 13th among QBs.
His total guarantees are $170.6 mil, 8th among QBs.
He is 32-24 as a starter for Detroit. 32-16 since week 12 2021, including Detroit's first ever NFCCG appearance, last year, and they're 8-1 so far this year.
Remind me again what the problem is with his contract?

If that is actual numbers then Goff is right where he should be in terms of QB pay.
The key is % of salary cap and guaranteed money. That seems on point. Lions were smart to get it done when they did.
Can you check Prescott's because that seems like a bad contract. I wanted to let Dak play out his deal and roll the dice and after this year let him walk as we are going nowhere fast with him.

That is a terrible ROI.
Credit to Dak, he played JJ like a fiddle in getting that deal. Dak is a middle tier QB at best getting paid as the top QB does not make sense. Right now Cowboys have a big decision to make. Tank the season and draft a QB and let him sit a year or two? Trey can`t play either and Rush is just a guy to step in here and there.
There was no reason to extend Dak before the season, should have waited.

it's because the good majority of posters on this board do not know football.
