i’m not scratching my head. he’s a dime a dozen guy from what i’ve seen. he does fit the jets though; middling arm, turnover machine, difficulty reading defenses. if he sees the field in the regular season, start looking forward to next season. he wasn’t better than brady cook.Saw the Niners swooped up Martinez. Never seen the kid play, but based on all the Bri reports, Jets fans gotta be scratching heads over that move. They were probably better off trying to sneak Tyrod onto the PS.
Got to be honest... this is exactly what you want to hear to revitalize his career and turn it around. Hope it works out for him

Everything you wrote is true, and Fields doesn't seem set for real life NFL success this season. But if he runs for 1000 yards, he'll still end the season as a top 10 fantasy QB.Got to be honest... this is exactly what you want to hear to revitalize his career and turn it around. Our top offensive lineman went down today and will miss "significant time" (read: year). We have Josh Reynolds as our WR2 and a rookie TE and an overrated WR1.
This kid didn't have a chance in the pros and it doesn't matter because his internal clock sadly has no working alarm.

That’s not going to help anyone on this Jets offense. Brutal.
Alijah Vera-Tucker going down for the season cannot be good for Fields and the Jets offense in general, especially for a team that wants to run the football a lot.
It's not really a curse to have bad leadership from the people who own a business. It's more like inept business ownership.Serious question, are the Jets just cursed?
there is no curse here. bad drafting. horrid scouting. you can not survive in this league when, after 2-3 years, all your draft picks are no longer with the team. most of these guys are also barely in the league. i could go over every horrid pick, but i don’t have 30 years to waste.Serious question, are the Jets just cursed?
They've had 3 ROTY in the last what 4 years? actually, take a look at their drafts from 17-21, a 5 year span. is it any wonder this roster is where it it right now?
gardner and wilson same year as ROTY. i disagree with the talent assessment and this is due to drafting. WR is pretty bad. QB is not good. the DL became so bad last year that they had to trade for 2 run stoppers pre season. but i agree with failure. They've had 3 ROTY in the last what 4 years? They can't get QB right. That's the problem. They draft someone? Failure. Trade for someone? Failure. Sign a free agent? Failure.
They haven't been able to get HC right either, but give Glenn some time.
No I was talking about NFL success. Never had a chance with the terrible coaching and play calling in Chicago … last year he did good for the Steelers with limited opportunity.. hope it works out for himEverything you wrote is true, and Fields doesn't seem set for real life NFL success this season. Sure thing. If you're looking for fantasy success then we're talking an entirely different thing and I don't begrudge anybody seeking that.
Hope he can keep it going .
Don't listen to the negative people!Fields looked great. Just watched the highlights. I’m pretty psyched to have a GW share.
Wish I hadn’t sold low on my Fields shares. Lot of negativity in here this offseason. Like a LOT. And he went out and balled.
 that was beautiful.

you start fields without question here.I have a who's who of guys I should've started on benches everywhere. Fields is among them. He's going to be an interesting choice vs Purdy and Penix in a 6 point passing / 1/20 league.
He has always been like that but the main difference from one season to the next has been, wait for it... his processing and decision making time. And understand I have called that his biggest weakness along with everyone else, enough that it could end his career. But it *has* improved each season noticeably and it directly impacts his ability to make oh-wow evasion moves while in or around the pocket because previously he was holding on too long and either getting destroyed with a zillion sacks because eventually the numbers say you just can't always be holding onto it too long. (his OLs have all been garbage BTW) *OR* he would make those oh wow moments. But now if he is actually making decisions faster that not only translates directly to his passing stats but with his ability to get clear before the rush gets to him and say smash bye bye. I guess what I'm saying is that if that sense of decision making has improved *again* this year, then I think we can expect just as much or more rushing excellence in fantasy and real life football as we've seen from him before. And what was that like for Fields? Oh no pressure coming- smash- no it's not.
Strange to me people still need to be convinced, when playing, he’s a top 10 FF QB. IIRC he was 6th when he got benched for Russ last year. There’s a zero percent chance I’m starting a guy like Purdy or Goff (or any pocket passer not named Burrow) over him.
Now will he last the whole season? Before yesterday I’d lean slightly yes. After how he looked yesterday, I’d say absolutely.

He's was consistently in the QB8-15 ranking for Week 1 that I saw.
We had Purdy at 17 and Goff at 21. I don't think folks need convincing.
For what it's worth, Footballguys had Fields ranked QB18 on the season. Well behind ADP, and the lowest I've seen him ranked across all the main ranking sites.I wasn’t talking about your staff rankings.Strange to me people still need to be convinced, when playing, he’s a top 10 FF QB. I honestly even had him last season for those games and was pissed when he got benched. Then I ended up drafting him as the last qb taken (for some reason, people have two qbs) and still dropped him for Lawrence because I just hate my team (the jets). Now I gotta hopefully get him back and I hope I wont have to pay too much.Strange to me people still need to be convinced, when playing, he’s a top 10 FF QB. Seems like the experts here really missed on him.

You sync any league up (even with the most standard settings), and it has him at QB18 Both draft dominators also have him at QB18 with 1 for 25, 4/td. At 6/td it drops him even more. For what it's worth, Footballguys had Fields ranked QB18 on the season. A few things.
1. I normally like to wait until Week 1 is fully complete before victory lapping season-long predictions. But that's just me.
2. We had Fields ranked as our QB11 in our preseason draft rankings. Part of doing what we do the way we do it is our predictions are public. Plenty of opportunities for the "Told you so" crowd but that's life. We'll miss on plenty of things this season I'm sure. A tad early I think to claim we missed already at QB11. But thanks.
3. One of our largest competitors, Fantasy Pros, had him as QB12 for season long draft rankings.
Will be fun to see how this plays out.

TLDR I think there is room for a higher rushing ceiling from Fields than what we've seen before if it is a true statement that his processing ability has taken another step forward. It obviously also means great things for his passing floor/ceiling but I just really think the sky is the limit here.
They play Buffalo next week, whose defense showed throughout the preseason and Hard Knocks they looked soft AF and I mean I can't give them much grief for giving up 40 to Baltimore and they *did* make a couple important stops last night, but if we want to talk about potential game scripts on the other side in terms of Josh Allen and that offense vs the Jets... question - what does that do for the Jets offense? They're going to need to throw a lot. I would imagine another shootout honestly. Guys like Reynolds and Taylor will need to be more involved.
To quote the guys from The Ringer, "a QB who can run is a fantasy cheat code."Strange to me people still need to be convinced, when playing, he’s a top 10 FF QB. You have him at 286.67 points, which puts him 18th of all the QBs you have ranked.
We will see how it plays out but so far looks like he will be much higher than the 286 (18th most) points FBG projected him for.

He's our QB11 in default settings. That's publc record and documented.
And to be clear, our rankings are where we rank the players for a draft list. Not a numerical list of total points.
There are lots of factors behind the scenes in addition to total points that go into our rankings. Upside potential being one. Games played is another. It's why Brandon Aiyuk can be our WR56 and projected to score fewer points than players he's ranked ahead of.
Again, I'm sure we'll miss on players. And there will always be folks anxious to point that out. It's life. But for now, I feel ok with having told our audience we ranked Fields as our QB11.
We'll see.
