QB Lamar Jackson, BAL (2 Viewers)

Not loving the matchup in week 4 @CLE. That D looks legit.

Could be a long day especially if all these starters aren't back from injury.

Drafted LJ to avoid a weekly QB carousel, but I'm at least going to peek at WW options.

Crickets.

A little concerned. His track record against CLE isn't the greatest and this D looks legit.

He's still too loose with the ball and this offense is far from clicking.

Not sure I have any other options. More importantly, I'm not sure I have the coconuts to sit him.
It all depends on your options.

Not sexy, but:

* Jimmy G (if healthy) @LAC
* A. Dalton @MN

Both of those secondaries are horrendous.
Whatever. Even if both outperform Lamar this week it's still overthinking the situation IMO.
Agreed. Sometime we overthink things and get cute. No way I roll Jimmy G or Dalton over Lamar. No matter the matchup. You drafted Lamar as your starting QB . You start him.

Thirded. I wonder how many people tried to get cute and bench Chase this past week because of his first two weeks of poor performances and the obviously hobbled Burrow. I know I was very close to being in that boat and remembered elite players are elite, regardless of matchups. Would have lost this week if he wasn't in my starting lineup. If you were deciding between Lamar or Goff/Cousins I could see it more. But considering the Red Rocket over him just feels.... bad.
Agreed.

This time of the year where we are now just approaching the first quarter of the season is not the time to start following small trends of performance or applying match up information yet.

That time will come in another week or two, but for now your better off just sticking to your guns on these start/sit decisions.

Absolutely the right thing to do. Still feel like a serious clunker is coming and in hindsight this is the game we should have sat him.

Stafford is tempting me @Indy.

Somebody just dropped D. Jones, but he's not going to clear waivers. That would have really tempted me.

Not a victory lap, in fact he really didn't have a great game rushing or passing. But again, those two rushing TDs on the goal line are exactly why if you decided to draft Lamar, you just start him. A lot of other QBs could probably have done the same thing, but they aren't all given that same opportunity with designed runs in that spot. Even in a "bad" game he finished QB3 on the week....

John Harbaugh was asked about the narrative of Lamar Jackson not being an accurate passer, yet he's No. 2 in the league with a 74.3 completion percentage:
"I'll say what I've alway said: Lamar is an accurate quarterback. He always has been to my eyes. I'll just take the one throw to Mark [Andrews] in the corner of the end zone. That's as good of a throw as you're ever going to see.
"We've always believed in his ability to throw the ball, for sure. And I do think that he's very determined to be the best he can be."

just crossed the rubicon of match-up proof for me. Dressed Russell Wilson thinking the Browns were going to give him a hard time. Now the only thing stopping Lamar is his health.

Agree.

Silly me for thinking the worst (above) against CLE.
What did you dress him in? Enquiring minds want to know.
No, actually speak for yourself.
Ok. what did you dress him in? I want to know.

Sorry, but I don't dress guys.

Just imagine how good his numbers could be with legit WR's to throw too and not Odell who imo is washed and Bateman who isn't very good (and they can't stay healthy). Zay Flowers is overhyped every week and puts up good PPR numbers, but I think right now in his rookie year he is being a little overvalued as a go to guy, when really he is just a solid piece in that offense. Thank God for Andrews.

There are 3 active NFL players who have won MVP, and one of them is on IR with a torn achilles.

Was really impressed with how Lamar extended plays on Sunday, and not in conventional way of running around.....he would just shift in the pocket or take a few steps to the side but kept looking downfield. Of course the 9.24 seconds time to throw to Agholor probably isn't repeatable but still, different flavor of LJax, different kind of Ravens offense under Todd Monken. They have been inconsistent and the red zone breakdowns prior to Sunday are legit concerns, but I feel like he has really matured as a drop back passer now that he no longer has to run Greg Roman's no-other-offense-like-it-in-the-league concepts. Baltimore is getting healthier and if this blowout might be a harbinger of what is to come for them. Good defense and a run game that will serve them well in January if everyone stays healthy.

No doubt, was very impressed by Jackson on Sunday.

Any word on him getting banged up late? Quotes post game?

Huntley came in. Could have been just garbage time. At least that's the hope.

There's been a lot of praise for Lamar but his stats aren't looking like he's changed much.

He's 20th in passing yards per game (217.1) and only has one game with 240+ yards (357 vs. the Lions).

He's 19th in passing attempts and 14th in completions (with a league leading 71.5% completion). As a team, the Ravens are 31st in passing attempts/game (ahead of only San Francisco).

The Ravens are #1 in rushing attempts and rushing yards/game.
Lamar has about 30% of the carries and rushing yards for the team (in my view, that's bad).

Statistically, it looks like the same old Ravens offense.

Yup.

And a strong D works against him.

Harbaugh is so damn conservative too. If they get up big it's run, run, run. Especially in the redzone.

Way too many rushing TDs vs red zone throws for TDs.

He's playing outstanding. MVP level stuff but it's frustrating for fantasy because of how often they rely on the RB's in the red zone.

I have him and Hurts on the same team and this upcoming week will be the first time I'll have Lamar in a lineup this year. I personally think Lamar is playing at a higher level then Hurts but the major fantasy difference is how often Hurts has his hands in everything in the red zone.

Has to be the biggest boom/bust player this fantasy season. No one more capable of hitting 30+ or 15'ish. There is almost no middle ground with him. He's got 3 games with 30+ and 4 with mid teens.

He's been way better for have a on Best Ball team that's for sure.

He’s been really really good this year. Way better than the stats. Frustrating for fantasy as the game scripts haven’t often called for him to do a ton in the second half (beatdowns vs Cleveland, Detroit, Seattle, games largely controlled vs Cincy and Houston, Az game where the run game controlled the second half, Pitt dropfest). The new OC has guys getting open far more than Roman who liked to have 3 guys run to the same spot as his base passing O. He’s tied for the top MVP odds on Draftkings.

unfortunately the ravens have a really good defense / team and don't really need any lamar magic to win games atm. he's playing fantastic ball. i'm a bit worried about his ROS prospect, but i can't sit him either.

Similar dynamic, but even moreso than Mahomes, in that the Ravens have a great D and a solid running game, including a bus at the GL.

Think they'll need some Lamar magic this week against the CLE D. They aren't going to be able to just pound the ball and run and hide.

I fear a slugfest where it's all Tucker.

He is at QB. In my league QBs get 1 pt per 20 yards passing and 4 points for TDs. 6 points for running TDs and 1 point per 10 yards. Lamar only has 4 games above 20 points this year, and he has four games at 13.55 or below. He has only 1 game with over 300 yards passing. His second highest is 237 yards. He has four games with zero passing TDs, two games with one passing TD, two games with 2 passing TDs, and one game with three passing TDs. His three big 30+ games were him with running TDs. He is truly boom or bust in fantasy (not real NFL), and there is more bust than boom.

One good thing is he plays good offenses come fantasy playoff time.
Well, people who have him on their team have to make it to the playoffs for that to even matter. I have Lamar on my team and I'm 6-3, but I'm not confident in getting a good score from him no matter who they are playing. It's a roller coaster ride, and I've got motion sickness. I had Anthony Richardson too, but he is out for the season, and I've got Trevor. I'll probably take some Dramamine, and continue to ride the LJ Twirl-or-Hurl Ride and hope for the best. 🤞 I hope this week's ride will be a celebration and not a regurgitation!!

Sure it's been a roller coaster but he is 4th in QB scoring in my league.
He is 5th in mine, but that is inflated by his 3 big games and he hasn't had his bye. Sam Howell is 6th. I just want to add that a lot of QBs have been inconsistent this year, and when I talk about Lamar it is only for fantasy. I do realize he is having a good year in real life football.

Very tough matchup.

Last couple years he has not done his best against this team.

Impossible to sit. Have to hope he does a lot of scrambling away from that D line.

Tbf he lit them up on the ground earlier this season but I’m not expecting a repeat.

I'm going to reiterate what I said again. His WR's are trash and Thank God for Mark Andrews.

Considering benching for Stroud. Well aware it could backfire and he did well in the first game but just way too much potential for this to be very low scoring. Getting quite frustrated with his recent games, Detroit apart. Two weeks without even a single passing td and I lost both my matchups narrowly so it stung more personally and that may be skewing my thoughts.

Sick of this dude. Ravens are playing well as a team, he's playing his part in that no doubt, but he's next to useless as a fantasy QB. 1 td through 3 games. Sure, his receiving core might not be up to it and that's obviously not on him but those stats are garbage regardless, even with the running stats tacked on. Oh and he's getting sniped at the goal line recently too.
