QB Lamar Jackson, BAL (3 Viewers)

So for those w/ Lamar, is Huntley the play (Superflex) or would you rather start Dalton, Mariotta or Taylor? Bears probably the best matchup on the other hand Ravens have been a disaster w/o Lamar

I just don't understand how you can fully practice, then declare you are OUT but have confidence that after multiple weeks of being out that in 4 more days you'll be good to go?

Truly can't imagine that whatever is ailing him would be keeping guys like Mahomes or Josh Allen out of the lineup, especially if their teams were 1-5.

He might have pulled an AR and tapped the top of his helmet.

I think the answer may be, he didn't fully practice.

Very fishy. Bets were made based on the false "full practice " report.

Right, meaning they lied about him practicing

Could just be everyday normal injury report shenanigans and not gambling implications shenanigans. Who can say.

But yeah, hammies are tricky. He might have been full go Weds/Thurs then woke up with tightness Fri. Really easy injury to have a setback with.

Orrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr they told the truth about him practicing and he woke up with a setback.

Not even that, there have been other players who practiced in full who did not play that week. Not quite the same thing as a game situation.

I dont, I'm speculating. Based on a month of strangeness here.

I can better believe continued strangeness than a set back.

This is losers limp to me here, no sign of injury, no treatment on the sideline, got beatdown and tosses his helmet.

Seeing Ian say he ran the scout team this week.
Ravens reporters not reporting that is pretty weak
They probably didnt have the access to watching him. Alweays gamesmanship when it comes to the injury report, Bill B was a master at it.
It's not on the list of things they can't report.
Reporters usually know that list by heart and are all grrrr I can't say XYZ.
Every team has posted pics of players working the scout team.
Idk when but they'll get flack for this

I don't think he had a setback. Fact he ran the scout team just tells me they never intended for him to start.

Does not mean they lied about his practice participation though I'm sure some gamesmanship is at play. These things are close but not quite the same.

I can get behind your feeling something is not adding up with Lamar. Like I said up thread a little I can't imagine if this was Josh Allen, Mahomes, even old dudes like Stafford, Rodgers, etc, etc, on and on, they'd be missing this game.

It's certainly weird to me that on post-day 27 of his initial injury, one that never looked bad, he's not ready to play on day 28 of a must win game but at the same time can sit on here on day 27 and say he'll be good to go on day 32 which coincidentally will have him return to play in his hometown in a prime time game against a super weak defense.

So to me I don't really look at the Ravens team playing games with the injury report so much as I am looking at Lamar and wondering what's up with him and what feels like a lack of urgency? It's not the first time in his career he's left people wondering if he was really healthy enough to play but was choosing not to. And my speculation is that's what this is, not the Ravens training staff not clearing him, but Lamar telling them he does not want to push through this and play two games in 5 days so he'd rather sit this one out and get well for Thursday and to that I'd again question his lack of urgency.

Yes, to the point that they changed the reporting rules.

Two major ones:
1. Tom Brady was Q: Shoulder for something like 2 full seasons.
2. Deion Branch tore his ACL, and they had him listed as “probable” the entire rest of the year. We didn’t know he’d torn his ACL until it was reported that he had successful surgery.

IIRC this was what pushed the league to issue more fines, and was partly why they ditched the “probable” designation.

And that was a terrible change. They should have just punished bill/the pats rather than ruining it for everyone. The old designation was perfect

Probale - 95 percent of guys played

Questionable - true 50/50 so you had to keep an eye out

Doubtful- 95 percent of guys missed

Now its just a mess

Yeah, but it was a mess before, too.

IMO teams are juggling honest reporting, gamesmanship, and NFLPA agreements about disclosure. Like, they can say what part of the body is hurt, generally. They are allowed to be more detailed if the player allows it.

Then it gets more complicated if there’s a procedure, because while teams aren’t subject to HIPAA (it’s done by collective bargaining instead) if they’re treated in a clinic or hospital, then they are subject to HIPAA laws, in addition to the NFLPA agreements.

I think teams will always err on the side of gamesmanship regardless, but the current structure seems more conducive to transparency.

I remember one week Belichick listed like half the team as Q, and it pissed off a lot of gamblers/reporters/opposing team. Some of the dudes listed had no actual injuries, though in a sport like football everyone is a little banged up all the time.
