Like most opinions that have been shared about him, both good and bad, this is a silly expectation. How many occurrences has there been historically in which a mid-late round rookie gets thrust into action mid-season and good outcomes resulted? I'd love to see evidence that lists any name beyond Tom Brady and Brock Purdy.

Correct - evaluating a rookie backup after he gets a week to prepare is night-and-day vs in-game emergency duty.

Arrogance is interesting because many people hate it in athletes who have yet to prove themselves, but then they love it in athletes once they prove themselves. Muhammad Ali and Conor McGregor may be two of the most arrogant athletes ever, but many people loved their arrogance once they were at the top of their sport. Yet an athlete can't reach the top of their sport unless they're arrogant enough to believe that's where they belong. So many people want young athletes to have an unbridled belief in themselves, but then they get upset if the athlete publicly shares that belief.

fair enough. but on the other hand Id say people are ok with the arrogance when the athlete has earned the right to be arrogant.

I think the issue for many (myself included) is that he has yet to earn that right to be arrogant.

my thought is, once you show you can bring it, I dont mind if you gloat afterwards.

either way, Sheudur got a nice dose of humble pie being taken in round 5. I honestly think he will be a better player for having had that humbling experience and his chances of making it as a pro are better than they would have been if he was a first round pick. for most that is not true. but for him, I think it is.

the other issue is the silly mime answers in the interview. its kind of hard to imagine that this is the guy who will be leading a group of pro football players. Many of whom are 8-10 years his senior. from a leadership perspective, that may be the very reason he wasnt elevated to be the starter early in the season.

but here is the rub, as a coach, I'd be ok with the arrogance. lots of competitive guys have it. but the Arrogance only serves you if you can bring it on the field. An arrogant guy who cant play is only a problem. And Sheudur needs to remember that and not bring that attitude until he can consistently bring it on the field.

Sure, he scored the DEFENSIVE TD. He ran 46 yards for the TD instead of Judkins. He drove the team down the field with the game on the line at the end of the game to win it.

Sanders gets props for a failed drive?

No, every rookie QB who hasn't played since August and gets thrown into a game shouldn't struggle. No NFL QB needs practice, or reps with teammates, or a game plan, or to develop timing, especially a rookie.
watch these last 8 plays with a chance to tie this game up.....For a QB to not have taken a meaningful snap since August...He gave the Browns a chance

I think Sanders has a long way to go before being heralded as a starting QB in 2026, a lot could happen between now and then including a new HC, maybe another QB prospect if the new coach isn't as excited about the Gabriel/Sanders combo long term

Browns would be wise to continue to start Sanders to see what they have. It will certainly add excitement to the NFL too.
