QB Tom Brady, Retired (6 Viewers)

They keep replaying SB 51 on the NFL network. Forgot how many contributions from Malcom Mitchell, Chris Hogan, Bennett, and holy smokes James White.

Welcome back. You owe us nothing. We remain in your debt.

Love watching him sling it.

Welcome back Tom!

i had traded case Keenum and Jacoby brissett for him in a SF league shortly after he retired. :)   At the time I figured it just saved me a drop.

As I posted in the TB thread

Rumor Mill from Shannon and Skip

Brady tried to back channel his way to San Fran and there were reports right after he announced his retirement that he was still interested in a season near his home town or Northern California. Shanahan sent back messages basically declining the offer. This might be in print if Googled but I thought it was interesting.

Motivated Tom Brady says "oh yeah, you don't think I can do it one more year, well watch this!"

Just some silly gossip probably not true but you never know where these rumors start.

I don’t believe a single word of this.

Niners paid a ton for Lance, and while it makes a fun “watch me win at 45 somehow Tom Brady is the scrappy underdog” narrative, I think it’s all BS.

He was either retiring or playoff or the Bucs.  He went to HS a 15 min walk from my HS, a 30 min walk from my house.

I’m sure it was a bucket list item to play for SF - he’s said that before. But I haven’t seen a credible source saying he’s said that *this year*.

I have seen several reputable sources that said Brady's interest in SFO was real, and the Niners again were the side that said no. As you indicated, SF invested a lot for Lance. The Niners on two other occasions could have pursued Brady and chose not to. When that didn't look like it was an option, Brady opted to return to Tampa.

How strong was Brady's interest in SF? Who knows, but it sounds like he approached them and at least explored if that was an option. All the other talk about doubting him, watch him win again, you'll be sorry narratives are just guys trying to get clicks on their articles.

Even if the Niners had even a passing interest in acquiring Brady, the logistics would not have worked. SF already emptied the draft pick cupboard to land Lance, and it would be a real dagger to Lance to make him sit another season.

Anybody who thinks Brady would give SF a third chance, after they passed over drafting him for Giovanni Somebody 23 years ago, and then after they kept Jimmy G two years ago, is simply out of their mind.

Especially after playing last season on a team that went 14-5, not 5-12. It was never going to happen, it was just some attempt at a self-fulfilling prophecy from a couple of click bait guys on Twitter. He’s been in communication with the Bucs for weeks on this and going somewhere else was never discussed.

Great news!  I'm not done watching Brady yet.  I still want more.

This does really suck for the guy that spent $518k on Brady's last TD pass ball of what is now just 2021, and not his career.

I wonder if Brady will buy it. It would be a good P.R. move.

1-Brady tried to back channel his way to San Fran and there were reports right after he announced his retirement that he was still interested in a season near his home town or Northern California. Shanahan sent back messages basically declining the offer. Again Jimmy G gets in Tom Brady's way.

2-This one is even better. When Brady decided to come back to Tampa Bay there were only 2 other people in the loop right up to his announcement and it was done purposely which I will explain.

Adam Schefter pissed Brady off fierce by announcing his retirement before Brady was ready. Brady lined it back to his inner circle and knew someone had let it roll to the media/Schefter so this time around Brady made sure only 3 people knew about it, Bruce Arians and Jason Licht played a massive poker game with Brady and covered his ### all the way. Arians has been doing interviews for weeks and when asked why he stuck around if Brady retired, he just calmly acted like Trask/Gabbert had him excited or that perhaps they might pursue Watson, not 1 word about Brady possibly returning. Tom Brady was going to make sure NOBODY knew this was taking place and had the information leaked it's possible he would have quit or closed the door permanently.

^^ the San Fran thing was never going to happen. It was never even discussed. It was something made up to sustain the never ending nfl news cycles and now those click-bait dorks can’t let it go.

Licht and Arians knew for about 10 days, from what it sounds like.

Bucs general manager Jason Licht said Tom Brady could play beyond the 2022 NFL season.

“It’s been an awesome two years,” Licht said during a Wednesday interview, “and now hopefully three-plus years — if not more than three — with him.” Entering his age-45 season at the height of his powers following his brief retirement from the NFL, Brady could lead the Bucs offense as he pushes 50 years old -- an unfathomable feat in any professional sport. Barring a sudden drop off from the GOAT, Brady's (long term) presence under center for Tampa is great news for the fantasy prospects of Chris Godwin, Mike Evans, and Leonard Fournette.

The Athletic's Jeff Howe reports there's "nothing happening" between Tom Brady and the Dolphins.

It's not entirely clear what may or may not be happening between the Dolphins and Brady, who un-retired this month after six weeks away from the game. In fact, Bucs general manager Jason Licht said recently that Brady could play for Tampa beyond the 2022 season. Before Brady left New England for the Bucs in 2020, the Dolphins were among the teams vying for Brady's services. Miami going all in on a Super Bowl run -- acquiring Tyreek Hill for a massive draft pick haul -- may generate rumors that they're trying to upgrade at quarterback, which remains a weak spot with Tua Tagovailoa under center.

Deadspin article that the 'retirement' was always fake.

Per PFT's Mike Florio, Brady intended to fake retire, buy a piece of the Miami Dolphins, hire Sean Payton as coach, then un-retire and play QB for them.

(Un)fortunately(?), the same day Brady retired, Brian Flores sued the Dolphins and the NFL for their discrimination practices. "In the lawsuit, he also alleged that Dolphins owner Stephen Ross had attempted to bribe Flores to throw games, and had attempted to convince Flores to recruit another active QB, a violation of league rules that Flores refused to go along with. The active QB in question? TB12, of course."

"It couldn’t have been worse timing for Brady. On the very same day that he announced his “retirement” that was supposed to kick off this plan, Flores filed the lawsuit against the NFL. Brady, again, with no actual intent to retire, then had to come back out of retirement still with the Buccaneers — which was a somewhat confusing development at the time, but which has been more than cleared up by this news.

The retirement was a convoluted effort to essentially manipulate the Bucs into releasing him without ever publicly demanding a trade or causing contention. The Dolphins ended up hiring Mike McDaniel, who called the Brady rumors “fake news.” Tua Tagovailoa will remain as Miami’s starting QB come fall."

Brady Illuminati

@Anarchy99

Ben Volin was on LeBatard's Miami Morning Hour, he does this typically prior to his live 2 hour show.

17:10 mark you can pick it up.

Dan: "It's not their fault their black head coach is suing them for racism?" 😆

StuGotz: "They were about to do exactly what he's accusing them of doing."  :lmao:

Conjecture that Brady was going to run the front office and play QB for the Miami Dolphins

Timeline is laid out for Sean Payton leaving Saints, bringing Brady in thru the Front Office as team President but then likely going to take the field. Brady would have had total control.

So could all of this affect Brady's teammates and coaches in TB? I could see this possibly alienating some of them no? I mean I know he's the GOAT but...

Why would they care about unsubstantiated rumors when he's still the same guy in the locker room he's always been?

How can anyone be surprised here.  The guy's a cheater and comes from a long line of cheating ####### in New England.  Deflating footballs, video taping other teams practices, and stealing a victory with the stupid tuck rule.  GOAT my ###, all the superbowls should have been stripped from NE, Brady thrown out of the league and New England forced to sell the team in disgrace.  But people are surprised Brady was acting dastardly to get out of Tampa and get rid of Arians etc?  Come on, dude's a master of deception and deviousness.  I hope there is a full investigation and they nail his hide to the wall.

And that wasn't a fumble.  Tuck my eye.  But I'm not bitter.

Where's the tylenol (Clark Griswold)

Bitter much?

Sorry if I took it too serious. Sometimes sarcasm and joking are too hard to read on line.  Might have to meet you at the Biergarten.

I think he's got (understood) anxiety about what he'll do and commits to too many good ideas.

I saw if he becomes an owner, he can still be an announcer or help run the NIL company but each wouldn't be ethical. I don't...this is not my thing so one of you can expand upon that.

I think he likes to talk about himself too much. In many ways I don't blame him. I've noticed Romo and Peyton tone that down and they're successful so i guess he could.

I don't see Peyton or Tom being analyst announcer types long. They're too competitive and I think they need something competitive. Owner or GM or coach. They gotta stole that fire and I just don't think "hang em up and sit back n chat" is truly in them. Maybe when they're 60.

Did ya see Peyton met with Ryan and Wilson? That's abnormal. Maybe maybe he sees the torch passed and changes (we all get old and accept some things) but I just think these guys are built different.

I was kinda hoping he'd just go away or at least be not visible after he retires. Take a front office type of gig and not be in my face for 3+ hours every Sunday. I have a serious case of Brady fatigue.

At least when he's playing he wears a helmet that keeps his smirking and whining face hidden...lol.
