QB Trevor Lawrence, JAX (2 Viewers)

Trevor Lawrence said he’s had “sloppy” footwork in 2024.
Lawrence opened up about his immense struggles, which date back to the final couple months of the 2023 season. “I think there’s been times where I’ve been a little undisciplined with my eyes,” said Lawrence, whose completion rate over expected ranks 28th out of 32 qualifying QBs this season. “I’ve maybe been a little sped up in some of my progressions. So maybe a little bit of that for sure. I think a few times my feet have gotten sloppy, have caused some of my passes to not go exactly where I wanted them to.” Lawrence said he would continue trusting the team’s offensive system and pledged to get the ball to his “playmakers.” That could include Christian Kirk, who in Week 4 led the Jaguars with 10 targets.

2 things about this I like.
1. Ownership of his own issues.
2. Did not throw his horrific OL or unimaginative OC under the bus.

Very subtle implication that he doesn’t get enough time which effects accuracy, but hey, show me the lie.

The honeymoon officially ended yesterday down here in the 904.

The fanbase and sports talk radio have offered every excuse you can think of since the day he arrived:

1. Urban was a train wreck, so his whole first season is a mulligan
2. Remember, he's just 22 years old (and then 23, and now 24, and next week 25)
3. His line isn't giving him enough time
4. He doesn't have the weapons to be successful
5. He's playing through injury

That's all over. Consensus is that he is responsible for yesterday's loss, FWIW

He missed a lot of throws. No doubt

Next Gen Stats
Nearly all of Trevor Lawrence’s passing production against the Patriots came on in-breaking routes (159 of 193 passing yards).

Lawrence's +15.2 EPA when targeting in-breaking routes is the highest mark by a QB in a game this season.

With Nico still iffy I hate to say this but I think I am benching BT this week. I think he is still a little gimpy and I am not sure how strong his connection will be with the future legend that is Mac Jones.

Happy to be wrong if he blows up, but the floor here is positively basement-esque.

Trevor 2-5 all time vs. HOU, 0-4 in Duuval.

8 pa TDs, 9 INTs. Only once finished as a Top 10 fantasy QB vs. Texans

But this weekend is when the TL and the Jags turn it all around, right?!?!

I'm not a Jags fan. I don't care if they lose. They will part ways with Pederson after this season anyway. Belichick in Duval would be very interesting. If TL is bad, Mac Jones is the worst. I don't care if TL throws 3 INTs as long as he can hit Brian Thomas Jr more than 3 yards down field. :bored:

Exactly.

Although Thomas may have D Stingley on him all day.

Stingley is a great talent at corner that's playing with a lot of confidence, no doubt, but the Texans (or Stingley) haven't exactly been in shutdown mode vs opposing #1s this season. Jefferson, BTJ, Wilson, Adams, St. Brown and CeeDee have all had good to great games against the Texans and this isn't even taking into account plus performances by 2/3 WRs like Downs and Douglas. Houston tends to give up a lot of yards and TDs to WRs, so as long as TL is playing I believe BTJ will be just fine.

TBH, I don't see any reason to play Lawrence at this point and risk further injury. Looks like he's going to need surgery:

Jaguars QB Trevor Lawrence (shoulder) said surgery was not off the table on his AC joint sprain.
More importantly, he said it was not off the table in-season. Lawrence has stated that he would prefer to play the rest of the season, but the Jaguars don’t really have much reason to risk him given their 2-9 record. It would be stunningly bad management if the Jaguars managed to get Lawrence hurt worse than he already is playing out the string. Nevertheless, he is expected to practice today. Major developments in this story are more likely to come from an interview than from a practice report.

I've been assuming he's not coming back since Mac Jones started playing. Why play Lawrence? Season is over, and they currently have the #1 pick.

that was tough to watch and hope he's ok. Al-Shaair s/b suspended the rest of the season for that hit. Just brutal and completely unnecessary.

Azeez Al-Shaair suspended 3 games without pay. As a Texans fan I'd been okay if it had been a longer suspension.
your team responded with a different message to the league.

Texans general manager Nick Caserio isn’t going to let the NFL slide for what he deemed “embarrassing” comments about suspended linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair.

Caserio went scorched earth on the league and those issuing what he calls “bulls–t” descriptions of Al-Shaair after the linebacker received a three-game suspension for his controversial hit on Trevor Lawrence that gave the Jaguars quarterback a concussion and knocked him out of Sunday’s game.

NFL vice president of policy and rules administration Jon Runyan released a scathing comment in explaining why Al-Shaair received a three-game ban.

That's gotta be a joke? THAT guy? :lmao:

How we feeling about Coen taking over? I am looking forward to seeing how he does this next season. If Kirk stays with the team and they do not add any other wide receiver, he could be a good play as well. Coen is calling the shots.

Certainly a positive for Trevor, we will see if he can answer the bell.

5 season. 5 OCs. 3 HCs. Very, very little talent around him.

Sure hopeful with the Coen hire (and the Baalke firing), but tempered expectations. The Jags aren't quite the Jets or Browns level of total dysfunction; but IMO he's right up there with some of their previous draft picks as the worst situation for a QB transitioning from college to the NFL. And likely won't have a complete offseason this year with this supposed shoulder surgery.

As a dynasty owner, I went from 6 to midnight with Coen coming on board but now from midnight to 6 with the Waldron hiring.

As a Bears fan, I'm absolutely stunned that Waldron has a job right now. He was criminally inept in Chicago and there are reports he was just mailing it in throughout the season.

Yeah Waldron is like Jeff Fiaher to me. I wouldnt hire either to coach high school.

Waldron was hired to be the passing game coordinator a job in which he thrived at with the Rams, pump the brakes on the hate. He's down the totem pole where he probably belongs.
