First run of 2014 turned kind of tempo-ish yesterday.  Like Jux, I have an issue with getting passed on runs and get competitive about it.  While I technically didn't get passed yesterday, I was fed a big piece of humble pie.  About 2.2 miles into my run and getting comfortable into 7:30s pace I see a tall kid loosening his legs to start a run up ahead.  He's wearing a Seahawks Cross Country shirt so I assume he runs for UNC Wilmington?  Well, just as I am 4-5 seconds from getting to him, he starts his run.  Not that I thought I'd stay with him, but I thought I'd try to keep it sort of close.  Uhhh.....NO.  Right away he's effortlessly putting a big gap on me.  Easily 30+ seconds in a half mile.  Then more and more to the point where I only see him if it's a long straightaway.  On the 3rd mile split, my Garmin reads 7:05.  So in the .8 since I've seen him, I am running sub 7 pace and he's easily going sub 6.  From a cold start.  Nice.  To be young again...Anyway, I gave up on him and was about to turn around soon anyway but since I was already rolling (for me) and felt decent I kept it going for awhile.  Did 7.5 miles total with last 10k in 44:15 and last 5 miles in 35:08
