@SayWhat?.....

Listen, I know you may be getting a little tired.  I'm sure you've had lots of chews. And I know you're planning on hitting lots of stores today after your run since you knocked this thing out before Sunday. And I know you're not really an ultra runner but you just kind of dabble in the sport. But if you come back here and say "guys, I just wanted to enjoy the scenery for the end of the race so I took it easy", then we are going to have problems.

In other words: Run Fast; DBAP!!!! And join Strava.

Bring it home!!!

LOL at Say What giving me crap for calling him legit and saying he was a MOPer.  Dude should have been giving me crap for not calling him elite.  He's currently sniffing a podium finish in the masters category.

Overall leaderboard has him at 17th reporting with a pack of 5. The individual pages have him in 13th place.  Regardless he’s a stone cold lock for a top 20 finish

I won’t be around for the finish. Doing a trail run that’s equal to says last section and his pace will be fastest

Sitting in my truck watching the runners go by in the 215 mile Blue Ridge relay. You guys should cobble together a team and do this

Finish this off @SayWhat?!!  Damn he's doing great.
Well if that ain’t 15 ####### yards for taunting, I’m not sure what is.  *******.

Oh God, if you only knew.  I’ll fill you guys in on the full report later.

Lol. It was a sprint finish. Say beat 2 guys by Lea than 30 seconds
That was some ####### bull#### man!  My wife paced me the last section and following a mile trail downhill through a new path on the second to last mile at a fast clip, which happened to be wet clay that stuck to my shoes, my wife had us finish with an 8 minute asphalt mile to hold those bastards off with clay caked to my shoes.

So here’s the deal...you guys are awesome for following along.  It most definitely serves as motivation.  This is an incredible thread with such a fun group of guys.  So as I’ve said before, though I don’t post as much as I’d like, I appreciate you guys immensely.

You know what?  I never thought I’d be proud of a race.  I’ve dabbled in this for my own reasons, mostly to scratch some personal competitive itches but more significantly, running aids in my mental well being.  But never not once was a reason to “place” or compete with other people. Since this is a place I trust, this is something I likely won’t say to the people I’m closest to.  I’m ####### proud of this run.  I left absolutely everything I had on that course, from gun to finish.  Honestly not sure I could’ve squeezed any more time out of my fitness, skill level, and mind. Never in my wildest dreams would’ve predicted a 55 minute PR and 15th place finish, especially without a pacer. I’ll try to post details in the next week or two, but I’m completely wrecked.  Spent an hour talking my wife and the doctor she works for down from being adamant that she needed to drive me 2 hours to the nearest major hospital to get put on IV’s and checked for rhabdo.   :tfp:

I’m not sure if you will test positive for rhabdo but it will be positive for you being one bad mother####er.

Seriously though - you should be proud and you should rest.  Hope you recover quickly.

Simply awesome.  Damn right you should be proud! Say it to those you're closest to (including us). Inspirational my man. 🤪

So incredible.  BnB is right, you're elite.  I'm proud of you being proud of this kick ### run.

Now you need to get on Strava so I can follow your ### and try to glean one shred of benefit from your runs!  I feel like following you, @SFBayDuck, & @BassNBrew is my key to running my first not-baby Ultra.  Some serious skill to look up to here.

I love all you guys, but this might be my favorite post here ever.

@Juxtatarot, you rocked your HM this morning.  Congrats and nice work!  Looking at the results, this feels so ridiculous to ask, but are you happy with the time?  Not sure what your goal was.

Just asking that question about a sub-90 minute half marathon screams how much of a fast BMF you are.

Thanks! I feel OK with the time. Not happy but it’s about where I thought I might be.  I haven’t raced in a while, so it was nice (and a bit horrible) to get back out there.  I’ll write a full race report later.

First of all, truly is a great feeling not having to worry about FF anymore.  I really hope you guys enjoy the league this year and I would have loved to do it last year, but reading about these injuries or Sammy going nuts and not having to worry about any of it is pretty fantastic.  That is, of course, after having done it for almost 20 years.

Second of all, moving sucks.  That said, just from lack of time (not eating much) and stress, I was 194 pounds this morning when I woke up.  First I've checked in at least over a week.  So there's some good that can come of it.  I could go out on a run now and probably see a 18x.x for the first time since early HS.

Finally, went on a run yesterday around here with my wife.  The road is really pretty to run on, has a great sidewalk that isn't right on the street, but it is hilly AF.  Nothing huge and steep like the loop we ran together here but it's like a kiddy roller coaster the entire way.  Up and down and up and down.  Finished 5 miles and elevation gain was 331ft, or 66 ft/mile.  That's almost the same as the 3 mile hilly loop we ran.

But, I knocked it out at a 10:44 pace with an average HR of 137, which is really good for me with that elevation compared to the last 2 months.  Especially considering I haven't been running much the last three weeks and the SI was still 142 last night.  Must be the lower weight  :)

Sorry I haven't followed along as much lately but hopefully things will start to settle down a bit over the next few days.  Then a nice little vacation.

Keep on BMF'ing, DBAPers.

I hear you - I love trail running so I always like to get out and hit the trails anyway but on occasion I’ll have to run in the neighborhood due to time.  If I run the 2 miles to our neighborhood pool and then back it’s just a shade under 500 feet elevation gain for the 4 miles.  I never run in the other direction because it’s even worse I think - monster hill.

In general in this marathon training cycle, my avg HR has been in the low 150s on my runs, which is higher than a few years ago.  But it hasn't been a start in the 140s and a slow climb into the 150s/160s.  Instead, it gets into the 150s rather quickly and bounces around a lot.  On an 18 mile run last Sunday, I pushed the last two miles (7:36, 7:35).  Oddly, those miles were my lowest HR (low 140s).  @SteelCurtain picked up on that in Strava.  Yesterday, up in Wisconsin, I did an 18 mile progression run.  5 miles easy (8:40ish), 5 miles push (8:15ish), 5 miles hard (7:40ish), then cool down.  Once again, my lowest HR - in the 140s - was during the hard miles.     I'm puzzled.  Maybe it's tied to my breathing pattern?  For slow pacing, I've been using a 3/2 pattern.  When I push, I switch to a traditional 2/2 pattern.
