Random movie "aha" moment (1 Viewer)

OK, her'es a real random one, but I was immensely impressed with myself so I will share.  As soon as I spotted it I ran to my wife and had the following conversation (this is not embellished):

Me: You know my special gift, right?
Wife: (pauses, I can see the gears turning in her head for a smart alec comment, but she plays it straight) Spotting people in movies, yeah, why?
Me: Well, I think I just topped myself.  Come and see this one.

I bring her to the living room, where I am watching Singles for the first time in at least 15 years.  The scene is one of the secondary characters (Debbie) having an argument with her roommate (Pam).  For those who know the movie, Debbie was going to meet a guy from her video dating service, he ends up meeting and hitting it off with the roommate, and argument ensues.

Me: Recognize either of these women?  How about the blonde?
Wife: No...
Me: A show we watch on Netflix?
Wife: No...
Me: She's Longmire's girlfriend for the last two seasons!

Yes, I recognized Ally Walker from two different roles she played 25 years apart.  I impress myself sometimes.

Welcome to Debbie Country!!!

He also played a transit cop in The Fugitive.  There was a really clever Scrubs episode where he, as the janitor, tried to hide the fact that prior to becoming the janitor had the role in The Fugitive.

:hifive:

Had a bitpart as a cop on a train that tries to arrest Harrison Ford and is killed by the 1 armed man in The Fugitive. Scrubs did an episode joking about this, similar premise to this thread.

Again, probably already mentioned but worth repeating because of her wonderful rack. Was watching Michael over the weekend because I love the dance scene in the bar ( :bag: ) and the new bride who gave the travelers a ride to the motel/restaurant was Carla Gugino. Barely had any lines.

I've seen this commercial about a dozen times. A couple are camping and can't sleep because it's "too quiet". The woman takes out her phone and selects soothing city noises, which allows them to sleep.

I've been obsessed with trying to find out where I've seen the male actor before. Last weekend, my son was watching Super Troopers, and I walked in at the point where Farva and Thorny were in the burger joint.

The man in the commercial was the kid behind the counter of the burger joint who screwed with Favra.

"Double baco cheeseburger. It's for a cop."

Had MTV Classic on in the background while doing some stuff and a Bon Jovi video came on that I remember pretty clearly from my younger days only because of how smoking hot Carla Gugino was in it. Did not remember though that her roommate that she catches her boyfriend cheating on her with was Keri Russell back in her super curly hair, pre-felicity days.

The man who played Claude Lacombe in Close Encounters of the Third Kind is actually the incredibly famous French New Wave director Francoise Truffaunt, best known for The 400 Blows, which many rank as one of the best films ever made.

To put this in perspective, imagine Stanly Kubrick acted in Star Wars as Obi-Won. Mind blown.

I bet I'm real late to the party on this one...

Oh, yeah.  (And Françoise is a girl's name.)

Yes. I was being sarcastic, because the original poster recognized him from his bit part in Coming to America, but didn't mention his prominent role in ER.
Oh, got it. Yeah, I was thinking the same thing as I typed that but still didn't make the connection that you were doing the same thing.

Probably a pretty obvious one for some, but never noticed it before (and I haven't seen many of his movies), but caught the end of Tombstone last night and realized that Johnny Ringo and Kyle Reise from the original Terminator are one in the same, Michael Biehn.

And he plays the guy in Aliens. Captian Second Fiddle. Always plays the second, never the lead.

Played in The Rock, as well.  Usually played the same character type, but he was good at it.  Saw him in something recently, has not aged well.
And in Tombstone, Aliens, and Terminator, he dies. Second fiddle and always gets capped before the end of the flick.

At the end of Capt America - The Winter Soldier.

Nick Fury (Samuel L Jackson) walks up to his own grave that has Capt America and the Falcon standing next to it...

  • Fury says "So, you've experienced this sort of thing before?"
  •  Capt answers "You get used to it."
  • And on the grave it says "Col. Nick Fury"
  • "The path of the righteous man..."
  • Ezekial 25:17
Which is obviously taken directly from Jacksons other iconic character in Pulp Fiction, Jules Winnfield.

As Ezekial 25 doesnt even have that bit of the sentence in it.

Was rewatching "Stuck on you" the other night. Dr. Ben Carson plays the doctor who surgically separates Damon and Kinnear. He is as bad an actor as he is a politician.

Random only in I had no idea.

Watching Cheers on Netflix.

Season 1 - Shooter MCGavin - played a relief pitcher for the Red Sox who asked Sam for help

Somehow I stopped on Pride and Prejudice and Zombies the other night. Not really sure why. Was actually more entertained by it than I expected. The queen (or at least some high ranking monarch as I didn't see the beginning so I'm not exactly sure) was none other than Cersei Lannister, Lena Headey. And she pretty much played the exact same character except with less booze, an eye patch and no brother #######. One of the other noble families which was trying to marry their daughters off to Cersei's clan was led by the patriarch who was Tywin Lannister, Charles Dance. He was a bit more endearing than Tywin.

Was watching 'Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them' the other night, and the guy who played Jacob Kowalski, the baker 'nomag,' also plays the crazy brother/uncle Marvin on The Goldbergs.

Only became a fan of The Goldbergs recently. I don't know why, I was a teen in that era. Especially the guy with the Rush shirts! :pickle: :scared:
That show is the best comedy on TV and like a little bit of my childhood rolled into 30 minutes. We watch it religiously as a family. Even the 4 year old likes it.

I'm late to the Goldbergs too.   But right up my alley especially being close to that area in a similar type town size and such

We do also, and tend to roll into the next one also with Minnie Driver and the guy who plays Barry Kripke (on BBT) and their son with cerebral palsy.

at the beginning of constantine, the little girl possession scene, the family seems hispanic; however, the girl's mother is suzanne whang who was the host of house hunters international back in the day.

I don't know how to search this entire thread, so don't know if this has been mentioned.
My wife watches HGTV's Love it or List is, and the other day saw an actress on some TV show that she thought was Hilary Farr from Love It.  I went to IMBD and it wasn't, but learned that Hilary Farr played Betty Munroe in The Rocky Horror Picture Show.   :mind blown:

Looks like she also did some movies in the 70s that, by their description, sound like soft pron.

I was watching some old Hill Street Blues reruns the other day and saw Lindsay Crouse, Christopher Noth and a barely recognizable Laurence Fishburne all  in one episode.

The guy who played the second Lloyd Braun on seinfeld was the husband in “The Hand That Rocks the Cradle”.   That is still a very troubling movie.
