This contract is similar to what the Vikings paid Dalvin Cook and the Bengals paid Joe Mixon recently. It makes him the 7th highest paid RB in the NFL now based on average salary per season.Adam Schefter

As if it couldn't already be more head scratching.Makes last year's draft an even bigger head-scratcher.
There's a $13m signing bonus, probably 2 years or maybe even the last 3 are fake years. Details are unknown, but I'm sure theMinistry of Pain said:4 years $48 Million...I am sorta glad Miami didn't end up breaking out that much money on him. Jones is worth it, very talented but you do wonder what happened in the 2020 Draft when the RB taken doesn't seem to be a big part of the game plan and they also burned an early pick on a back up QB.
Good for Jones and I imagine anyone who drafts this guy will continue to see great numbers.
Free agent Jamaal Williams thanked Green Bay's organization and fans on Instagram Monday.
It means Green Bay won't re-sign him after bringing back Aaron Jones on a four-year deal. Williams, 25, soaked up 35 targets to Jones' 63 last year and was undoubtedly a road block for the latter potentially reaching his top-three ceiling. With Williams officially out of the picture, Jones' receiving role should increase (thus unlocking even more potential) for 2021. Note that A.J. Dillon totaled just 21 catches across three seasons with Boston College and saw two targets across 97 offensive snaps last year.

Yeah $13 million guaranteed is a pittance compared to what that would buy the Fins/Packers at other positions of need. I see a lot of people elsewhere saying they'd have preferred GB get another WR or they'd prefer Miami pick up a WR over Jones but $13m guaranteed doesn't buy you anything at WR.There's a $13m signing bonus, probably 2 years or maybe even the last 3 are fake years. Dolphins and rest of the NFL will get another shot at A. Jones in the next year or two. I'm good with having two good running backs on the team and don't see why that's a problem. I think they'll compliment each other pretty well. The hard part is what they do with Rodgers' contract in the coming weeks. Whether they restructure, extend or do nothing will send a huge message, whether intentional or not.
And with what Jones can do receiving out of the backfield...he had a lot of value to the Packers offense. Glad he is back and pleasantly surprised they got it done...I was not confident he would be back.Yeah $13 million guaranteed is a pittance compared to what that would buy the Fins/Packers at other positions of need. WR guarantees the last 3 years.
Cobb - $18m
Tate - $23m
Richardson - $14m
Tyrell Williams - $21m
Humprhries - $19m
Gabriel - $13m
I understand everyone wants WRs but getting Aaron Jones for the same money you could buy Taylor Gabriel for, or little more than half as much as you could buy Tyrell Williams for is a bargain to me regardless of the value of RBs vs. WRs.

Aaron Jones' contract:
Signing bonus: $13M
Salaries: $1M, $1.1M, $8.1M, $11.1M
Roster bonuses: $3.75M in 2022, $7M in 2023
Annual per-gamers: $200K in 2021, $400K in 2022-2023
Workout: $50K in 2021, $500K in 2022-2024
Pro Bowl escalator: $250K annually
Wow, that seems like a great deal for GB. There's no way Jones sees year 3 there with up to $14m in bonuses between the per gamers and the roster bonus, plus an $8m salary. If I'm understanding that correctly.Looks like a 2 year, $20m deal. Really confirming what we all knew - teams use the tag without using the tag. Great deal all around IMO.
yeah, I think this is correct. Looks like about $17m in the first year, about $13 in the second year, with the last two years probably fake years.Maybe I'm reading it wrong- looks more like $29m in cash in the 1st 2 years, assuming workout bonus and 16 games played:
$13m signing bonus + $2.1m salary + $3.75m roster bonus in 22 + $10.15m in roster/per game bonus
Why would it change much from this past year? Yes, Jamaal Williams is gone but I doubt all his receptions go to Jones and they would have to in order to reach that number. Jones had 47 receptions and Williams 31. I would say it will be closer to the 55 number than over 7070 receptions for Jones this year. Over or under?
Im taking over with 73
I think (hope? Pray?) they do. They aren't going to Dillion and unless they pick up a Golladay or the like (unlikely) or spend some real draft capital on a WR I don't see it going anywhere else. Why would it change much from this past year? 70 seems a little high, I’d have to take the under there. Thought it wouldn’t completely shock me. Dillon doesn’t seem like much of a receiver.70 receptions for Jones this year. Over or under?

Aaron Jones had five rushes for nine yards in the Packers' Week 1 loss to the Saints, adding two receptions for 13 yards.
Jones and the rest of the Packers' key offensive players were stymied by an aggressive New Orleans defense throughout. When game script went sideways, Jones and most of Green Bay's starters were pulled. There's little reason to believe AJ Dillon will cut into Jones' workload in a less whacky game. Fantasy managers should confidently start Jones in Week 2 against a Detroit defense bludgeoned for 131 rushing yards against the Niners in Week 1.
Aaron Jones rushed 17 times for 67 yards and one touchdown in the Packers' Week 2 win over the Lions, adding six catches for 48 yards and three touchdowns on six targets.
With the Packers getting clobbered 38-3 in Week 1 and Jones posting just nine rushing yards and 22 yards total in that embarrassing loss, we were all expecting the Packers to come out and put it on the Lions. All three big-time skill guys answered the call, as Jones caught touchdowns from four, one, and 11 yards out before adding a one-yard touchdown plunge in the fourth quarter as the cherry on top. He was a fantasy week-winner. Jones handled 23-of-31 backfield touches in the victory. He'll be an RB1 next week at San Francisco.

Aaron Jones rushed 19 times for 82 yards and a touchdown and caught his only two targets for 14 yards in the Packers' Week 3 win over the 49ers.
It's another strong game from Jones, who has 149 yards over the past two weeks. Jones didn't factor in the pass game after scoring three touchdowns out of the backfield last week, [but] he converted a goal-line carry from three yards out for his touchdown this week. Jones and the Packers offense have looked back on track after an embarrassing Week 1 loss to the Saints [and face Pittsburgh in Week 4].
Aaron Jones (ankle) remained limited during Thursday's practice.
There's not been much concern about Jones' status for Week 4's game against the Steelers, but back-to-back limited practices are notable for a player who wasn't on the injury report at all last week. Monitor the situation on Friday, but it's been common this year for running backs to draw limited tags and play on Sunday.

Aaron Jones rushed 15 times for 48 yards and caught 3-of-4 targets for 51 yards in the Packers' Week 4 win over the Steelers.
Battling a bit of an ankle issue during the practice week, Jones notably split carries 15-15 right down the middle with AJ Dillon in this one, and it was Dillon who out-rushed Jones 81-48. But Jones at least was able to do something with his four targets to total 99 yards on the afternoon. Jones entered this one as a top-two fantasy back and will be a shoo-in top-end RB1 play next week against the Bengals.
Aaron Jones (ankle) was limited in Wednesday's practice.
Jones was limited last week and still went on to handle 18 touches against the Steelers, though he did cede 15 carries to AJ Dillon. We think that was more to preserve Jones in an easy win more than anything else. He'll be ready to go against the Bengals.

Aaron Jones (ankle) remained limited during Thursday's practice.
The major news out of the Aaron Jones camp this week has been the Packers fitting a pocket together for his jersey so he can carry his father's ashes, nothing about this lingering ankle tag. After two weeks of this, it's likely just workload management for Jones. Start him with confidence against the Bengals in Week 5 unless some big news breaks on Friday.

Aaron Jones rushed 13 times for 76 yards in the Packers' Week 6 win over the Bears, adding four catches for 34 yards and one touchdown on four targets.
Jones had 42 scoreless yards on nine touches at halftime but caught a 12-yard touchdown from Aaron Rodgers in the third quarter and also ripped off a 28-yard run. The Packers still aren't fully opening Jones up for big workloads, giving him 14 carries per game over the last three weeks, but he's caught 11 balls in that same span while AJ Dillon has seen his carries increase. Dillon handled 11 carries for 59 yards in this one and was the one getting the clock-killing work late. Jones remains an elite RB1 thanks to his massive touchdown upside. He gets a home date with Washington in Week 7.

Aaron Jones rushed 15 times for 59 yards and a touchdown in the Packers' Week 8 win over the Cardinals, adding seven receptions for 51 additional yards.
Jones was actually out-carried 16-15 by AJ Dillon as the Pack relied on the running game in Davante Adams' absence, but Jones out-touched Dillon 22-16 and out-gained him 110-78. Much to his fantasy managers' chagrin, Dillon did not receive a goal line carry as Jones got stood up from the Cardinals' one twice inside the 5:00 mark in the fourth quarter. Jones was initially ruled to have scored touchdown No. 2, but it was overturned on review. Dillon is getting more involved of late but still has not meaningfully threatened Jones' No. 1 supremacy, and has yet to really even push for "1B" status. The sophomore did look excellent on Thursday evening, however. Regardless of Dillon's level of involvement, Jones will be an elite RB1 for Week 9 vs. the Chiefs' collapsed defense.
Oct 29, 2021, 12:25 AM ET
Aaron Jones had 12 rushes for 53 was yards in the Packers' Week 9 loss to the Chiefs.
Jones, quite concerningly, did not see a target while AJ Dillon commanded four looks from Jordan Love. Dillon tied Jones with 12 touches on the day in a Green Bay backfield that's looking more and more like a timeshare, crushing Jones' weekly ceiling. Jones nearly broke off a lengthy touchdown run in the fourth quarter, but was tripped up by a Kansas City defender who had slipped before Jones burst into the secondary. Aaron Rodgers' anticipated Week 10 return should give Jones a boost. He'll be a low-end RB1 -- a touchdown dependent one -- against the Seahawks.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports Aaron Jones suffered a "mild" MCL sprain and will miss 1-2 weeks.
Jones, who suffered the knee injury late in the Packers' Week 10 win over Seattle, will probably avoid the three-week injured reserve. Jones will miss this week's game against Minnesota and has an outside shot of suiting up for Week 12 against the Rams. Barring a setback, he should be back for Week 14 against Chicago, following the Packers' Week 13 bye. AJ Dillon, meanwhile, will serve as a workhorse back for at least a couple games. Pro Football Focus grades Dillon -- who had 128 total yards and two scores against Seattle -- as the sixth best rusher in the league this season. He has as much upside as almost any running back in fantasy for as long as Jones is sidelined. Patrick Taylor could be sprinkled into the Green Bay offense while Jones is out.

Dillon has looked extremely good. He is a totally different dynamic and getting Jones healthy for a thunder/lightning situation down the stretch and into the playoffs. I think they will both end up fantasy friendly down the stretch (once Jones get healthy).I'm taking 1-2 to mean at least 2 weeks. I can't see anyway they'd bring him back before the bye week in week 13.
Part of me wonders if they may take it extra easy on him if Dillon tears up these next 2 weeks.
Best possible outcome.ESPN's Adam Schefter reports Aaron Jones suffered a "mild" MCL sprain and will miss 1-2 weeks.
The Athletic's Matt Schneidman said it "sounds like" Aaron Jones (knee) will be a game-time decision in Week 12 against the Rams.
Packers head coach Matt LaFluer said Jones -- who injured his MCL in Week 10 and missed week 11 -- made it through the team's Wednesday walk through -- a decent sign that he'll be active this week against LA. LaFleur said they've further evaluate Jones' injury come Sunday. AJ Dillon's emergence in the Green Bay backfield could put a firm cap on Jones' snaps and touches against the Rams if he's able to suit up. Dillon would be a back-end RB1 against the Rams if Jones is held out.

Aaron Jones (knee) practiced again on Thursday.
It means Jones bounced back well from Wednesday's return, and is giving himself a real shot at suiting up against the Rams. The Athletic has speculated Jones will be a game-time call, which makes sense for a player making a rapid return from a knee ailment. If Jones goes for this critical conference showdown, he may not be in line for his typical workload, but he would still be a no-brainer RB2.

Not so sure about that. It’s an important game.No reason to play him, no chance they play him IMO with the bye looming
