RB A. Green Injures Hamstring, Status Unclear

Todd Korth, Packers Report - [Full Article]

Green Bay Packers RB Ahman Green was injured in practice this week, and the team may be without their best running back on Sunday against the Detroit Lions. HC Mike McCarthy today revealed that Green injured his hamstring in practice this week and was held out of Friday's session. Green was unavailable for comment, and was not listed on Thursday's injury report. If Green is unable to play, RBs Noah Herron and Vernand Morency will share in running the ball if Green is unable to play.

RB A. Green Hamstrung, RB Morency To Start?

Bob McGinn, Milwaukee Journal Sentinel - [Full Article]

A late hamstring injury during practice kept Packers RB Ahman Green from finishing practice on Friday and might force Green Bay to start newcomer Vernand Morency Sunday in Detroit. "We'll know more in the morning......Morency's ready to go," said HC McCarthy, who didn't say which backup would start for Green. "We planned at the beginning of the week to get him more involved."

My Sunday Milw-Journal Sentinel still has him listed as questionable. Usually they are pretty definitive on playing status on gameday.

It appears this will come down to the pregame show info. Morency would start in his place not Herron.

Green is playing

WHAT TO WATCH FOR: Packers RB Ahman Green is expected to start despite straining his hamstring in Thursday's practice. RB Vernand Morency, though, will see some action in passing situations. The Packers are still struggling to adjust to the new zone blocking scheme and that's why the running game has struggled. Look for Brett Favre to attack rookie safety Daniel Bullocks and inconsistent CB Jamar Fletcher, who is starting for Fernando Bryant. Green Bay's Aaron Kampman has four sacks and he could have another big day facing rookie RT Jonathan Scott.

This was posted 6 hours ago, dunno why no other sources are confirming it unless it's speculation.

Probably because it's just saying he's "expected" to start - this isn't a newswire article, this is a guy writing a Week 3 preview. I wouldn't take this as news.

In Wisconsin and aside from a craving for kraut/brat/cheese I can find no news... Benching him in my flex for a WR!!!!?

go pack.

Scout.com reports Ahman Green, questionable with a sore hamstring, will play Sunday against the Lions.

The Packers are reportedly "relatively confident" Green will play as well. He's not a great start against an above-average Detroit front seven, but if you're desperate to start him, he looks somewhat safe to play. The pre-game inactives should be up shortly.

:link: because this line:

doesn't make sense with this line:

This service is fast becoming bush league... updated cheat sheets posted this morning and A Green isn't even ranked amongst the running backs.

I hope this is :sarcasm: Why rank him if there are significant questions about him playing? If they ranked him, then there would be the stream of posts about how FBG costs people games because they started Green.

Dodds explained his stance last night in the Matt Jones thread:
David Dodds said:
Sorry guys. I was out of pocket for a lot of yesterday and today.I have now made these updates:Matt Jones zeroed (Other receivers increased, Hankton to play some, Leftwich production decreased)Droughns to split carries with Harrison (Droughns to get about 2/3 of the attempts).Increased Steve Smith's projections slightly (Slight bump up for Delhomme).Decreased Todd Heap's contribution (increases for Wilcox and other receivers, McNair slight hit)I still have Ahman Green at zero for now. Green Bay is an early game thgough so we will have this info for you on Sunday. Here is the big stuff we hope to run down on Sunday morning:CAR - WR Steve Smith (hamstring)NYJ - WR Laveranues Coles (calf)BUF - LB Takeo Spikes (hamstring)JAX - WR Matt Jones (groin)CIN - WR TJ Houshmandzadeh start or 3rd WR (heel)IND - DE Dwight Freeney (buttocks)GB - RB Ahman Green (hamstring)BAL - TE Todd Heap (ankle)CLE - RB Rueben Droughns (shoulder)NE - WR Chad Jackson (hamstring)NE - WR Doug Gabriel (hamstring)PHI - WR Donte Stallworth (hamstring)

I just rewinded it. The bottom of the screen said Ahman was out, but Mort said he should find his yards

Anyone watching FOX?

He had this at the bottom of the screen but also said Green being on the injury report earlier in the week was only precautionary. It sounded like Green was playing but I glanced at the screen and saw the same words at the bottom. Way to go ESPN.

Berman just said Green will start.

Nice pickup by Boomer. I wonder if someone was in his ear about the conflict between Mort's report and the graphic info.

Thanks for the clarification. For a minute there I thought I would have to turn the volume up and listen to those fools.

Green may be active, but Jason Spitz is inactive. Although just a rookie, he is far better than Colledge. Shaun Rogers and the rest of the Lions D line are going to be a big problem for whomever is carrying the ball for the Packers today.

note too, Det. back 7 have some injuries. off KFFL CB Fernado Bryant and SS Kenoy Kennedy are inactive. add that to all the det. lb injuries... it could help GB's offense, especially with a.green starting today

take it how you want but the NFL today on CBS was just commenting that Green was out? I don't have a lot of faith in them though.

They might be misinformed, but I swear I just heard Boomer on the CBS pregame show say something to the effect of "Green Bay is going to have a tough time today without Ahman Green". I was not in the room, I was in the kitchen, but the TV was up loud and I thought that is what he said. Did anyone else hear this?
