RB Alex Collins, SEA (2 Viewers)

Seriously, why isn't Collins in the game???? No offense to T. West, but, apparently he's out of the way for this game at least.

... why the #### is Collins not starting?

Maybe he did something in practice this week that put him I the doghouse?  Fumbling in practice??
That would've  come out in practice/working with the 1st team. Nobody reported anything.

Terrance West left Sunday's Week 5 game against the Raiders with a calf injury and is doubtful to return.

West went down on the Ravens' opening drive. He was carted to the locker room and looked to be in considerable pain. West started and produced 17 yards on two carries before exiting. Buck Allen and Alex Collins will split up backfield work for Baltimore with West done for the day and potentially facing an extended absence.
This backfield could belong to Collins if he does well today.

This is very odd that Allen is the goalline back. He is slamming into people and stopping. He has like 3-4 straight attempts.

Gonna take some time for collins to establish trust with harbaugh.  But my goodness the way he runs.  His vision.  If he goes a few games with no fumbling sky is the limit.  Only other Rb I see regularly ripping off huge runs like he has been and as consistently is kareem hunt.

Collins reminds me of Chris Ivory, he also had a fumbling problem with the Saints. He also ran "wild". He's still not a no. 1 RB even though again he's looking pretty good for the Jags.

What is film room like when Coach asks 'why did you miss that cut' and players think 'why did you have Allen in there?'

It's a 2 TD lead... why aren't they letting him run the rock? It's like they are passing every play.

Can’t watch the game, but sounds like both Allen and Collins are seeing action and the reps are relatively split.

Collins definitely making more of his touches, and if he continues this trajectory, is that exactly what is Collins owners want? Isn’t this exactly the way we want this to unfold?

I was hoping for a solid 10 point plus game, but wasn’t expecting Collins to have 80%+ of the carries - if anyone was looking for that distribution, would be a little unrealistic.

What we did want is for Collins to breakaway and prove himself to be the best option, which he is doing exactly today so far.

With West now dinged the path is that much clearer. We can complain about Harbaugh not using him enough and we’d be right, but Harbaugh was going into this game with two options - would think it would be that much harder to not give Collins the lions share going forward. When Woodhead gets back, seems like the kind of back he is won’t necessarily disrupt the kind of carries that are given to Collins in early downs.

TL:DR - patience, grasshoppers. I am taking glass half full approach as Collins seems to be proving himself without doubt today, which spells exactly what we want for him going forward.

I'm watching the game. the carries are not evenly split. Allen is seeing much more action in a game Baltimore is up two TDs.

EDIT: Now, that may be a function of Baltimore (for some reason) passing 2 out of every 3 plays now, but that's telling.

Because they don't want him to fumble. Honestly as electric as he is I don't think the ravens will ever give him the lions share of carries because they simply don't trust him.

I’ll take your lead on this, but I was referring to carries - not overall snaps/touches as I didn’t think Collins was a good of a receiving back compared to Allen.

Was only looking at rush attempts which were split 10/7 in Buck’s favor.

You hit it on the head that BAL’s Pass distro is the root cause, and it’s baffling why they aren’t grinding down the clock with the run game.

24-17, Allen starting as the RB on this series again.

First two plays have been passes to Allen.

The coach doesn't trust him in games with the lead, the coach doesn't trust him at the goal line, he's not the passing down back, he's just their change of pace back. Talented as hell but Allen is the back to own in this backfield.

Oh Collins isn't close to the receiver Allen is. I'm more referring to overall snaps. Even in plays where they are running the ball or in spots they can run it, they are passing with Allen in there. Ball security is one thing, but there have been alot of mixed messages sent by the coaching staff to not trust him to this degree. He has run it hard, kept it high and tight.
