I love Jeanty, but he's like RB8 or so for me right now in redraft. I wanna be higher on him (and a month ago I had him 4th) but when push comes to shove in drafts, I certainly find myself preferring guys like CMC, Henry, Achane, and even Irving.

I have pick 5 in a my long time redraft home league. It's old school, no ppr and no flex. I am quite sure Saquon, Bijan, Gibbs and Chase will go in some order to start things off. I am then pretty torn between CMC, Henry and Jeanty. IMO, a standard format makes the RB1s just more valuable than the WR1s. Jefferson scored 215 points and was WR2. There were 9 RBs out who outscored him. As huge as Chase's season was, Saquon, Henry, Gibbs and Bijan all scored more. Getting that true stud RB is the real difference maker IMO.
It's tough for me to parse them out. CMC has injury risk, Henry has age cliff risk and Jeanty has the unknown risk. Henry is on the best offense and is likely to score the most TDs but also provides the least in the passing game. Jenaty and CMC are in conversation to lead the league in touches. I could see any of them out producing Gibbs, Bijan and Saquon to finish as the overall RB1.

I think Jeanty will quickly become a top 5 RB. Once Barkley and CMC age out in the next year or two, the faces of RB will be Jeanty, Gibbs and Bijan.

He ran the ball 25 times, caught two passes for 200 total yards and 3 TDs against Oregon. Boise should have won that game but their special teams imploded. The year before he played against Washington (who made it to the National Championship game that year). He had 150 yards and 2 TDs on 14 touches. Penn State really bottled him up in the playoffs this last year but Jeanty had outstanding games in 2 of his 3 matchups against college football playoff powerhouses.

That is not fully accurate.
Jeanty is absolutely going to eat this year. He's the second best RB to come out since AP (Saquon higher imo) and will be used in all facets on O. He's been getting a ton of working in the passing game throughout camp and I don't expect Mostert nor White to take many snaps from him.
Jeanty will be a top tier fantasy RB this year imo.

RBs that need a hole to succeed don’t generally succeed in the NFL. You’ve gotta be able to make people miss to be a star RB. It’s a couple preseason carries but I expected more. Don’t get me wrong, I’m still very high on Jeanty but I hope it was just jitters. I expect him to look much more explosive as time marches on.

I mean I don't know what you expect when there are 2-3 guys behind the LOS before he can even make a move. He had that nice spin move which broke a tackle but then got smacked by a couple more guys.
It's definitely preseason when people are already saying they expect more after 3 carries lol.

If you're drafting before his next preseason game he probably falls to the 2nd round now. Lots of people will be scared off, even though 3 carries is nowhere near enough to judge anything.

I watched the Penn St game too and I thought he was very impressive. The Penn St D-line dominated that entire game and Jeanty was able to make guys miss in the backfield and pick up positive yards almost every time. While he was only getting 5-7 yd gains what he was doing was incredible to get those yards. The overall stats didn't look great but I thought he was very good under the circumstances.

For whatever reasons - nerves, new system, crowd noise (on offense), I dunno - the Raider lines got their asses kicked from pillar to post during that opening quarter of football. That affected Jeanty's, and the team's performance, by far more than anything else.

This is my biggest concern with regards to Jeanty. If he has three guys in his face in the backfield every carry it doesn't matter how good he is. He can make the first or second guy miss but still only get 1 or 2 yds. That isn't going to cut it in FF as a first round pick.

He avg 3.5 a carry that game and thats with a long run of 26. And im not sure we watched the same game because I barely saw him break a tackle. Its kinda of common knowledge that when Jeanty went up against equal competition his stats were mid
I don't really care about his stats necessarily. I cared of what situations he was put in and how we looked dealing with them. I saw him break plenty of tackles but when he was surrounded by 3 or 4 guys breaking one tackle doesn't really do you much good. His blocking was terrible in that game but he always seemed to get positive yards making the first guy miss and get back to the line of scrimmage or beyond. I saw a couple 5 yd runs where he made a guy in the backfield miss, got skinny through the hole, jump cut by another guy and then the third/4th/5th guy got him down. Great run and much better than the 5 yds he got credited for.

UNLV had the 23rd ranked rushing defense last year. He faced them twice. 33/128 and 32/209.
Those two, along with Penn St, are the best defenses he faced last year.
