RB Cam Akers, Free Agent (5 Viewers)

Actually Hunt requested a trade and they just shut it down.
That’s right - thank you, I knew there was something there.

I would think they’d be more interested in moving the older back who’s paid more.

But I just checked and Johnson is only 1 year younger (26) than Hunt (27).
And as it turns out, Hunt isn’t that expensive either, so I’m 0 for 2. lol

The Rams would be dumb trading for anybody. Todd Gurley is sitting by his phone right now.

They already traded all their picks anyway.

They are saying it's football related now. Maybe a demotion and he didn't take it well?
Link please?
I can relay to you that Josina Anderson tweeted out earlier today that her sources are telling her that it was football related. I'm not sure who else is reporting this or were Weebs got his info.
Josina has been pretty unreliable this year. There were a couple of notable early things she was way off on. I take her tweets with a big grain of salt lately.

In this day and age of social media, does Sean McVey really think he can say what he did without herds of people making up their own stories? Why hide it? It's obvious that whatever it is will come out very soon. Until then, many theories will surface - some of which are not very nice to Akers.
Maybe it’s to give Cam time to start taking care of something if he has something going on.

I get the desire to know what’s going on, but there’s really just no reason to speculate. We’ll find out eventually and it will be what it will be. No use making up scenarios in the meantime.
This is the Cam Akers thread in a magic football website
What you saying is unreasonable. If it wasn't for speculation this site would cease to exist.

. No use making up scenarios in the meantime.
It’s an odd phenomenon that people need to guess. It’s also odd that some of the same people seem to still mock “mental health”.

A few people really embarrassed themselves in the Ridley thread and I see some want to double down here.
:goodposting:
This was exactly my first thought when opening the thread the first moment I heard the news. "Oh boy, here comes another Ridley situation."
McVay certainly didn't make anything easier for the speculation machine with his comments.

Listen, all you speculators extraordinaire, I'm calling it now. Follow the clues. Go back and read every word McVay has said. Think about the phrasing. It all adds up. Cam Akers has been 5 dogs, a komodo dragon, and a hedgehog stacked up inside a football jersey this whole time.

And George Washington was 7 koalas stacked on top of each other.

What were you expecting?

According to Rapaport: "philosophical and football-related differences with Head Coach Sean McVay.'

Not being a malcontent or disruptive, being professional, it sounds like.

Rams are fielding trade calls, unless he and McVay figure things out.

Trade sounds like a great scenario, the line he has now is brutal. Let’s get it done.
So is his problem that he wants to backfield to himself? Does he have a problem sharing carries with Henderson or whoever? I always thought you had to prove yourself before making demands.

Yea this doesn't sound like a Ridley situation at all. This is just the classic primadona player running his mouth more than he should have.

So this is all about a conflict in philosophy between Akers and McVay?
He rushed for 700 yds as a Rookie IIRC, then the achilles and now in 2022 he looks mediocre and they are going to get a trade offer how?
This isn't McCaffrey we are talking about here.

Someone might offer a 5. Bad front offices that are desperate might give a 4.

And bad front offices that are desperate don't usually have very good O-lines, so even if that's some of the issue in LA, he may not like his landing spot any better.

Don't think that's accurate and we don't have enough evidence to make that kind of claim
Maybe down the road when he recovers more he’ll start to look good again, but we have the end of last season, the playoffs, and five weeks in 2022. Right now the evidence points to him not being good enough. I guess we’re all at different levels on how quickly we think he can turn it around.

I could see Howie giving a pick. Let Sanders walk in the off-season and you have his replacement on the cheap for 2 more years. Strong OL

ETA He did something similar for Ajayi in ‘17

FOX's Jay Glazer believes Cam Akers has played his "final snap" for the Rams.

Glazer confirms the Rams are "trying to actively trade (Akers)." He also believes he will be gone even if the Rams can't find a trade partner. Seeing as Akers has arguably been the worst lead back in football since returning from his Achilles injury and is in now in the middle of this bizarre situation, we can't imagine anyone ponying up something greater than a Day 3 supplemental pick. Even that is unlikely to materialize. Tuesday is traditionally transactions day during the regular season. Perhaps Akers will be waived in two days time.

They’re gonna try to trade him now?

Way to build him up there McVay. Most teams would feature the dude & show how good he is. You vaguely trash the kid in a bizarre presser, make him a healthy scratch & you think that’s gonna help his trade value?

Weird AF.
It's a good thing the Rams got their Super Bowl because their roster could get ugly in a hurry. Not sure what is really going on here though. Getting even a 4th for Akers would be a coup.

I think you're hoping more for a conditional seventh at the moment.

Oof.

I don’t care what anybody says, he is worth a bag of skittles.

I suppose this will come out in the wash after he's off the team. Or will he be off the team? I know what reporters are saying, but I wouldn't be surprised by anything McVey does.

Also, McVey hates fantasy players. That's why he screws with them with his RB play :)

As a guy with a bunch of Henderson and zero Akers, this news seems OK to me.
I have Henderson in one league and anything to do with him will probably be short lived. That's how McVey rolls and I don't think he has the warm and fuzzies for Henderson. Keep an eye on Kyren Williams, but he's also one of those light backs that McVey won't be in love with.

See how fast Robbie Anderson was traded?

Yeah - Akers is still a Ram.

Dude isn’t very good.
The Cards May have thought Brown was done for the year, speeding that process up
Henderson/Brown didn’t exactly light the world on fire on Sunday.
Brown definitely didn’t show anything, but Henderson had a couple of big boy runs. Not sure how McVay felt about the performance though.
