RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire, NO (2 Viewers)

I just googled “fat Eddie Lacy” and the pics are hilarious. Also found an article about fat shaming Eddie Lacy - not a bad read. Shared his tweets about shoving Sonic down his gullet.

The man liked his Sonic.
Can you blame him though?   They make a good burger for a fast food place.

That's odd, I thought they could activate same day?
I can’t point to anything in the CBA or NFL by-laws or anything, but I’ve read multiple times, all season long, that activation from IR mist occur by 4pm on Saturdays.

perhaps you’re thinking of making a player active/inactive for game day (but who is already a part of the active roster)?

Montgomery was activated last Monday for the game that night: https://www.chicagobears.com/news/roster-moves-bears-activate-montgomery-injured-reserve-flex-two-others-steelers

Well then. CBS Sports might not be the final word, but that article you posted might have been

  • Reporting activities from the day before
  • Confusing making "Active" with activating them from the IR
Right now, on Fleaflicker, CEH is designated for return from the IR, but not active.

A comment in here says Monday is a special case: https://www.reddit.com/r/fantasyfootball/comments/qtdzv3/ceh_status/

Confusing stuff, I also tried searching around and cannot find anything definite. Probably have seen enough to start Williams over Carter though (still have to start Carter in another league though :yucky: )

Michael Carter? That's not such a bad situation. I have to start Javonte Williams today to fill out my RB requirements.
The Carter matchup looks really bad to me . Bills have been shutting down FF players all year and you're basically banking on garbage time. Carter looks really good though, particularly with checkdown Mike in. Shouldn't have started Waddle and I could have done both.

I would have started Waddle and Carter over Williams, actually. I don't trust that KC is dedicated to giving Williams the ball. It seems almost incidental when he gets the ball.

Just the way I view their offense, I guess.

Well, it looks like that roster change didn't take for some reason so I hope you're right. Stupid yahoo :wall:

That Jonathan Taylor/Swift/CEH debate isn’t one anymore, is it? Because that looks really settled for now.
I dont think it should be a debate anymore but there are still many games left this season and next season where that could change.

KC was a power house offense and maybe they will be again.

The main lesson I think this debate should teach us is that you should value the players talent over the situation. At least that is what I get out of it.

I am as guilty as anyone else for not sticking to that when ranking these players. Before the draft I had CEH as the 5th best RB of that draft class with Taylor #1. But I vaulted CEH to #1 because of the draft capital and landing spot.

Going forward I will try to remember this and stick to my pre draft evaluation more.

At least it never hurt me. I did not get CEH anywhere. I ranked CEH #1 but I also instantly realized he was going to be too high a price for me to actually acquire him. It was like a ranking him but then simultaneously putting him on a do not draft list as contradictory as that sounds.

This is an example of why rankings are dumb. Or why I need to find a better way of doing rankings I guess. I shouldn't rank a player #1 when I have no intention of taking them at that price, thats for sure.

Chiefs coach Andy Reid said Clyde Edwards-Helaire (knee, IR) has a pretty good chance to play in Week 11 against the Cowboys.

Reid also noted that his odds of returning have increased compared to last week. It's no guarantee that CEH is able to play but he is at least trending in the right direction. In his absence, Darrel Williams has arguably played better than CEH, creating the possibility that the two split the backfield or Williams earns the bulk of the work outright. Williams most recently turned 20 touches into 144 yards and a touchdown in the Chiefs' Week 10 stomping of the Raiders. Upon returning, CEH will be nothing more than a risky RB3 until his role becomes more clear.

Coach Andy Reid said "there's a chance" the Chiefs don't activate Clyde Edwards-Helaire (knee, I.R.) until after next week's bye.

“There’s a chance we go that direction,” said Reid. “We’re just looking to see how he does this week, and then we’ll go from there. If we feel like he’s not ready, then we won’t put him in there.” There's no reason for the Chiefs to rush CEH back with Darrel Williams playing better football than Edwards-Helaire ever has in Kansas City. Williams would be an RB1 play this week against the Cowboys if CEH isn't activated.

Chiefs coach Andy Reid would not say whether Clyde Edwards-Helaire (knee, IR) would be activated for Week 11 against the Cowboys.

"He had a good week," Reid said of Edwards-Helaire's participation in practice. Teams are not required to update the statuses of those still on injured reserve, so Edwards-Helaire's pending availability is unknown and thus truly up in the air for Sunday. It's possible the Chiefs hold him out since their bye is around the corner in Week 12. Darrel Williams will continue mentoring as a strong RB2 if Edwards-Helaire is ruled out.

I just heard on GMFB right now that Clyde is playing tomorrow ? Has he been activated from IR yet? Im facing D.Williams and would welcome this news ....also I have CEH in every league Im in.....

Has he been activated from IR yet?
No and I've seen nothing that states it's a given he will.

Personally I'm in a similar situation(s) like you. I own a healthy amount of CEH but I'm not sure I'd use him a lot if he's active but slowing Darrell Williams roll in various leagues is my bigger concern.

I have both CEH and Williams.  If CEH is active I will be hesitant to play either until we have a better idea how they split carries.

The Chiefs will be activating Clyde Edwards-Helaire off IR prior to their game against the Cowboys in Week 11, per James Palmer. (James Palmer on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact:

Edwards-Helaire's planned usage in the game is unclear for now, but Palmer says he will have more information regarding his playing time by Sunday. It's almost certain that Edwards-Helaire won't get a full workload against Dallas, given how well Darrel Williams has performed of late, and the best bet is that it's a fairly even split between the two. Still, in a likely shootout, that should put both backs in flex consideration. Make sure to monitor reports on Sunday for any further word on the Chiefs' plan.

Well, well, well...

RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire is back for the #chiefs. But I’ve been told they’ll watch pregame warmups pretty closely. They don’t really know how much he’s going to play as or right now.

This is my last decision to have to make. I thought he was expected to be the starter probably splitting 50/50 with Williams. Between the two I'd lean CEH but don't love the morning reports.

I went Williams because of those reports. I bet one of them has a good game but it is a coin flip which one.

He didn't practice Friday
Andy Reid told reporters that RB Clyde Edward-Helaire (stomach flu) "should be fine" for Week 13 against the Broncos.

Edwards-Helaire missed practice on Friday with stomach flu and is officially questionable, but it sounds like he should be ready to go against the Broncos. The Broncos' defense is vulnerable through the air and on the ground, and CEH could have a nice game as part of a resurgent Chiefs attack. The Broncos are susceptible to the deep pass and play very little Cover-2, so there could be plenty of goal-line opportunities for the backfield to capitalize on.

Thanks for this. I have Williams also so I guess I'm covered if things don't shake out for CEH (provided that I don't drink too much watching the earlier games)

It's absolutely painful having this turd on a dynasty roster. Cant play him and no one is dumb enough to give anything of value in trade.
I don't think he qualifies as a turd just yet.  He is still the unquestioned starter on one of the best offenses in the league.  In the 6 games he and Darrel have played together, he has out-touched him 87 to 39, and remember, in game 5 he got hurt, and in game 11 he was just coming back.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports Clyde Edwards-Helaire (illness) is expected to play in Week 13 against the Broncos.

Edwards-Helaire is reportedly dealing with the stomach flu but Chiefs coach Andy Reid said he "should be fine" earlier in the week. Reid was right and all signs point to the second-year back seeing his normal workload versus Denver. He returned to the lineup two weeks ago and earned 14 touches for 76 yards. Edwards-Helaire should be treated as a mid-RB2 this week.

Clyde Edwards-Helaire rushed 14 times for 54 yards, adding three receptions for 28 yards in the Chiefs' Week 13 win over the Broncos.

It was a similar split as last week between Edwards-Helaire and Darrel Williams in Week 13, as CEH handled the majority of early-down work (14 carries to Williams' five), while The Mentor came in on passing downs. Edwards-Helaire equaled Williams with three targets, but it's hard to call him a workhorse when he comes off the field on third downs. Consider CEH an RB2 as the main rusher on one of the league's better offenses moving forward. He's a solid fantasy starter for Week 14 against the Raiders.

Clyde Edwards-Helaire rushed nine times for 32 yards in the Chiefs' Week 15 overtime win over the Chargers, adding two receptions for 18 yards.

Facing a bottom-two run defense on paper that has nevertheless been stiffening in recent weeks, CEH was held to 50 yards or fewer for the second consecutive game. Not counting his fourth quarter two-point conversion, CEH was also held without a goal-line or red zone touch as Darrel Williams and FB Michael Burton both handled two. He was the intended target on Patrick Mahomes' interception inside the 10-yard line, but the mistake was entirely the quarterback's. CEH's workloads have shrunk in back-to-back contests, and he is averaging just 14 touches in four games since returning from injury. All that being said, he will remain in the RB2 mix for Week 16 because the Chiefs will be facing a Steelers run defense in absolute free fall. Just consider him more of a floor than ceiling play.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports Clyde Edwards-Helaire did not suffer any structural damage in his collarbone and "should return shortly."

He added that CEH is dealing with some swelling. It sounds like he will miss Week 17 but a Week 18 or Wild Card round return is in the cards. Until he's back, Darrel Williams will handle the bulk of the touches for Kansas City. Williams averaged 19 touches for 94 yards in his five-game stretch without CEH earlier this year. He was also heavily involved as a pass-catcher. Williams projects for high-end RB2 numbers versus Kansas City this week.
