RB Devin Singletary, NYG (1 Viewer)

If the Bills face a tough opponent (one that can keep up with scoring), Singletary is a great play. If not, he's a flex at the very best.

Devin Singletary rushed eight times for 24 yards in the Bills’ Week 9 loss against the Jets, adding four receptions for an additional 24 yards.

There wasn’t much to be had in the running game outside of Josh Allen. The Jets stuffed Singletary and the Bills’ running game all day. He was able to squeak out four catches on check downs to avoid an even more miserable performance. While the Bills have a lighter defensive matchup in Week 10 with the Vikings, it’ll be interesting to see if the Bills incorporate more of Nyheim Hines.

Devin Singletary rushed 13 times for 47 yards and two touchdowns in Buffalo's Week 10 loss to Minnesota.

He added a zero-yard catch for the PPR-hungry. Six of Singletary's 14 touches came in the first two drives. He briefly left the game in the third quarter after being down on the field. It didn't seem to be a serious injury, but he had just two touches for the rest of the game after leaving. Perhaps it was the fumble in the second quarter that got Buffalo off him. Singletary did remain far and away the No. 1 back, but four different running backs got work today. He'll be an RB2 option against the Browns in Week 11.

That was basically all in the 1st quarter.

:wall:
He averaged 3.6 ypc and lost a fumble, not exactly a strong case for a lot more work.
And they lost the game after they stopped giving him the ball.
And yet he had ~3 more carries than his average. Obviously in hindsight it's easy to say Allen cost them the game and they should have run more, but in general you'd take Allen over Singletary every time and it usually works out for them.

No doubt — but it also isn’t good to become one dimensional.

Devin Singletary rushed 14 times for 72 yards in the Bills' Week 12 win over the Lions, adding an eight-yard reception.

Singletary out-carried James Cook 14-2 but watched Josh Allen cash in the Bills' only rushing score. Singletary did receive two carries inside the Lions' seven-yard line, including one from the four. With the Patriots' elite pass defense on tap for Week 13, Singletary figures to receive a road-game commitment in that one. He will remain in the low-end RB2 mix.

(fantasypros) Devin Singletary had 13 carries for 42 yards on Saturday and caught three passes for 28 yards.
Analysis: Singletary did not find the end zone Saturday, and also did not benefit from what could have been a much snowier game. It is also not ideal for Singletary that both Hines and Cook were heavily involved, but perhaps a matchup against a poor Chicago defense in Week 16 is just what he needs.

Devin Singletary rushed six times for 24 yards, adding five receptions for 38 yards on eight targets in the Bills' Divisional Round loss to the Bengals.

Singletary's role seemed to be forever under threat this season, but the Bills were never able to completely move away from him. That remained the case against the Bengals, with Singletary seeing five targets while James Cook and Nyheim Hines combined for just one. Singletary's 2023 fantasy value will be heavily tied to whether he returns to Buffalo. Singletary is an unrestricted free agent, and it's possible the Bills fully commit to the idea of upgrading their backfield by moving on from Singletary this offseason. Even if he returns, he is likely to split work with James Cook. But given his history in Buffalo, it's hard to be against Singletary carving out a significant role if he re-signs.

Texans signed RB Devin Singletary, formerly of the Bills, to a one-year, $3.75 million contract.

Fantasy managers will groan, but Singletary isn't a bad backup bet to make behind ascending second-year pro Dameon Pierce. It is a puzzler from the perspective that there are probably more snaps/touches to be had for Singletary in the passing game than on the ground, but his receiving efficiency has always left a lot to be desired. The same was true of Pierce as a rookie. Pierce managers would have preferred the Texans go even cheaper in their No. 2 spot, but Singletary does not ultimately profile as a major threat. Pierce can still be treated as an upside RB2.

Good move for the Texans.

Gives them another quality option at RB. Singletary is underrated, and a different kind of RB than Pierce.

Not a backfield I want to invest in FF-wise, but good for the football team.

Gotta think this for sure puts them out of the Bijan race

Whoever thought they were in it given all their needs was mistaken. It's just not a premium position, and Dameon Pierce was good last year until he got hurt.
Yes they were never in the Bijan race and I'm telling anyone who will listen they love Pierce. BUT....

I was worried about Gibbs and this likely takes them out of that race. My thought was if they take Bryce at 2, then with their pick at 9 in round two on an offense in bad need of speed and big play players they might see value in reuniting the Bama backfield with Gibbs playing the lighting to Pierce's thunder. I would not have liked that much for Pierce or Gibbs.

As a Texans fan, disagree on Bijan. I think they need a weapon either at 12 or slight trade down territory. Bijan felt like a maybe if they slid down to 15 range and picked up some more picks (Young, Pierce, Metchie, Bijan as a core would be a nice start).

At 12, if they literally stay there, is a DE/OLB. If they slide down some, I think it might have been Bijan before today but now is more likely JSN/Addison. Second round is almost certainly a center IMO.

I have him on two teams. I’ll see if I can throw him into a deal OTC during the rookie draft to move the needle or something. If not hold and see what happens. I think Pearce looked very good but Singletary is good and also useful in passing game. Pearce is much bigger but Singletary was effective in the red zone - albeit Allen helped there.

I think this will be a sneaky good backfield this year. Pierce and Singletary could both be RB2s this year. If one is injured, RB1 is in place.
A rookie QB that defenses have to spy, a new high energy head coach that players love to play for, a new zone blocking scheme in the mold of the 49ers.... what's not to love?
PPR gold as well. I could see 100 catches from the RBs in this offense.

I do think Pierce was overworked last year and I think they'd like to involve him in the passing game more this year. So a 200/125 carry split seems about right - I can certainly see a role for him. Probably one of the better handcuffs to have as well.

Devin Singletary rushed seven times for 15 yards in the Texans’ Week 1 loss to the Ravens.

The Texans averaged 3.1 yards per carry as a team on Sunday, as they were repeatedly stuff by an aggressive Ravens front. Singletary never totaled more than four yards on any of his seven attempts, and wasn’t targeted in the passing game. Singletary can be left off the fantasy radar in Week 2 against the Colts.

I don’t know enough about Singletary or Pierce to have an opinion but I think PFF is a joke
There's no perfect grading system. Teams spending big bucs on scouting get it wrong many times. PFF has Najee and Warren in the low 60s and Achane at 93. TJ Watt at 91.6. It's not perfect but not a joke.

(Rotowire) Singletary's expected to handle the bulk of the backfield workload Sunday against the Buccaneers, as Dameon Pierce (ankle) has been ruled out.
Analysis: Singletary started the season as Pierce's backup but worked his way into a timeshare over the past two games, due in large part to Pierce's struggles. With Pierce sidelined, Singletary will get a chance to showcase his skills in a lead role, though he'll be doing so against a Tampa Bay defense that has allowed just one scrimmage touchdown to a running back all season. Mike Boone and Dare Ogunbowale will round out Houston's Week 9 backfield depth chart.

Tough match up for Singletary. Pierce has been a huge bust this year.

Agree but for some of us with bye weeks and injuries a starting RB to put into the flex sounds pretty good.

Ill be rolling with Singletary over Chubbard from the waiver wire out of desperation. Lol.

I am going with the opposite, Chuba over Singletary. Chuba has been running pretty well this year (considering) and TB is a tough ticket. Good luck, RB roulette most weeks.

Hubbard was announced starter and Sanders is in the dog house it seems I think I go Hubbard myself.
