RB James Cook, BUF (1 Viewer)

Cook looked good against a tough Jets D. Harris will get goal line work, but he didn't look all that good (still doing that stutter-step he did in New England that never worked). Murray's snaps were when they were driving with less than 1 minute to get into FG range aka he was there for pass pro/big body.

Bills offense looked bad, Allen turn overs killed them, and Jets D played great. A "floor" night for this offense IMO.

Murray looked good on his limited opportunities IMO. He could pass Harris if they trust him more on passing downs

Seems like a main theme of week 1 was the defenses were ahead of the offenses. Still a lot of rust needing to be shaken off around the league among the elite QBs: Allen, Hurts, Burrow, etc.

Cook is going to be a very consistent PPR RB2. Loved his snapshare and usage. The Jets D played great and they will cause a lot of floor offense this year, but Bills were just off just like several others. Arrow up here in my opinion - starting this week vs Vegas

The usage screams lead RB. He looked fast and a focal point of the offense. I will always have a soft spot in my heart for Murray. Surprised how many snaps he got and kinda surprised how few Harris got. After one game Id feel good about cook and upgrade his outlook. On a Debbie Downer note, he just looks small. Will be interesting to see how his usage looks moving forward.

I was especially pleased with the deep shot they took to him late in the game. The DB was on him like white on rice, but that they took the shot bodes well for the future. He's going to have some long TD receptions if they keep doing that.
Agree, if Josh would have floated it out a bit further to let him go get it he would have had a great fantasy day. He was a priority pick for me in all drafts due to his talent and draft spot. Def think hes is going to have a great year in that offense.

If he had floated it out about 1' further I wouldn't have been eliminated from the subscriber contest.

It does look like Harris will get goal line carries or at least some of them as he was inserted in the red zone in the 1st half. I'm sure he'll get his opportunities and break some long ones.

I'm optimistic for him as my RB2 in a full PPR league. The Jets are a top 5 Defense this year and he didn't do half bad. Hoping Josh gets a little more conservative and they hand off more/dunk and dink to him. LV this week too...

I imagine there will be a lot more checkdowns going forward. Cook was open underneath regularly while Josh was playing hero ball. I expect him to catch a lot of passes this season if they can reign Josh in.

ya, the Jets had him seeing things...I hate to say but he lost the game for them. He just needed to manage it but he kept forcing plays when he didn't have to. I was happy to see the targets (some downfield) and how much he was on the field. I think TDs will be the big question.

In Standard or half PPR I agree TD's will be the big question mark/concern. In full PPR 3-5 passes a game solves that for RB2 purposes.

While this was a long time ago when Murray was with the Vikings, I recall seeing a split stat which showed Murray was better on his first 5-7 touches of the game than he was on subsequent touches after this.

Not to derail the Cook thread, but I think Harris advocates are fighting the wrong battle. Harris has almost no chance to unseat Cook as the primary RB in Buffalo this year outside of injuries.

Harris’s real competition is whether he’s even the #2 RB/goal line RB. Murray has been fantastic all camp and preseason. He’s the oldest RB in the league, but has shown burst, power, and the ability to catch the ball.

With Harris being hurt all preseason until late this week, Murray performed excellent in all areas as the #2 guy this summer. It should not go unnoticed that Murray didn’t play at all despite not being injured this week. That could indicate that Buffalo is entirely satisfied with what they’ve seen out of Murray but needed to see what Harris is able to do still. It’s not even close to a foregone conclusion that Harris is the #2 and goal line guy IMO.

That's what I'm talking bout! Was blown up in the backfield on the first play of the 2nd, huge second effort to get forward.

Damien Harris gets the next play ffs. Weird.

Harris was in all the way to the goalie carry (got one) before Josh rolled out and hit D Knox for the TD.

What has happened that causes your response here?

Then subsequent posts lamenting having Cook in their lineups.

Im not watching this game so maybe you could fill me in here?

Lat Murray got all the red zone work and punched one in to start the game. Then rinse and repeat (stopped on the goal line though) for Damien Harris after that. Cook finally seemed to get some work in the 2nd quarter.

Murray was in for the entire 2nd drive including taking in the short TD.

Harris has had some run as well, but hasn’t looked nearly as good as both Cook and Murray. It’s still clearly Cook as the #1. And IMO, Murray continues to look better than Harris and will end up with more work than Harris assuming no injuries.

Cook looks good...29 rushing yards and 3-31 in receptions...if you are caught up in the past looking for ball-cows he might not be for you but if you lean more towards building with WRs he is a great fit.

It seems to work with Etienne so I'm in.

He looked pretty good but i do doubt his ability to crack the top 10 given the buffalo O

Which I am totally fine with since I did not expect being top 10 and I would hope most wouldn't...100% fine with him being steady and having a season where he is a solid #2 RB with blow-up potential.

Hell never score TDs but he's a solid rb2
Let’s calm down a bit here…he was in some red zone packages, he was targeted on a route last week that should’ve been a TD. He’ll certainly score tds but the bills seem to like Murray / Harris to get some shots so far but they haven’t been great. Who knows how things will evolve…hes starting from a really good spot…
